  1. pinging? what kind of gas are you using?
  2. Also here on the "drift brat". I hear that converting to rwd on the stock 4wd gearbox is bad though. this car is called "rust in the wind" its running nissan rearend (350z i think) and 13b mazda motor
  3. my 86 gl wag does well at highway speeds. check your alignment. my 91 loyale sucks on the freeway because i lifted it and have beat it, it needs new suspension and alignment. there will be a difference between your 86 and 99 no matter what you do but you can install a rear swaybar off a turbo car. hope this helps RV
  4. i would also enjoy a pair of cornerlights. i plan to paint them orange so they dont have to be perfect. thanx, RV
  5. i did a brake job on my sis in law, there wasnt even metal backing from the pads left. she didnt understand why the car wouldnt stop. afterall, itd stopped squeaking months ago:D check your brakes people. Juan, glad youre ok RV
  6. i had a hole in one of my covers that let crap in, but not out. as a result i got to learn how to do t-belts. on christmas morning. before a six hour drive. in my climate (pnw) i havent seen significant icing of anything under the hood except for when i didnt have enough antifreeze in my water. (oops) moral: no covers. stuff spins off instead of accumulating. RV
  7. rumblee has some vent wisors on his turbo wagon. he said they were on there when he bought the car. hard to think someone ordered em from japan, could be wrong tho. this sounds like a job for: trial and error man! RV however, covering the rear windows will take some engineering, the ones in Robs link/pic were on a touring wag as well (if that matters)
  8. i used 6X140 wheels off a 91 mitsubishi montero and the offset is perfect. i can tuck all four. the are 15" and dont stick out like a lot of chevy/yota wheels that ive seen. bear in mind not all yota wheels will stick out. RV
  9. Paul, im sure those are the ones i need. you need fenders? pm me im pretty sure i can come up w some. thanx man, RV
  10. i need the ones that look like hex nuts on the top. how much???!!! thanx a ton, RV
  11. still patiently waiting for the centercaps for my magnesium ea81 12 spokes. thanx man. RV
  12. sounds like a synchro is going out. most of my soobs have had that problem. 2nd gear here too RV
  13. i know you dont need to hear it, but if its cheaper or at least easier to find why not go ej? you know you can carb those right? my 86 wagon is heading in that direction. SJR's wheeler still has all the ea wiring and a ej w/ no computer= easy (or easier anyway). sorry to you on this, just a suggestion. good luck, hope it works out RV
  14. a gc8 is a gen1 impreza. it may be exclusive to the 2 door variety. wikipedia is very helpful. RV
  15. solder is always fun. also, swapping the face to one of the "trip computer" faces from the 80s is cool too RV
  16. ok, bone head question here so sorry if its offensive: you guys did plug the coil back in right? ive forgotten to once or twice. usually after a beer i figure it out RV
  17. resealed an oil pump and replaced the one on my "new" ea82 in the loyale. also seafoamed both cars. they both run better now, specially the carbed wagon. RV
  18. thanx gary, i was under the impression that i didnt have to use a helicoil if i drilled it out and used a tap. i suppose ill google it, i was just hpoing i could find some some ea82 exhaust stud specific tappage info. RV
  19. so both of my ea82 wags have a stripped exhaust stud on one side. what size tap do i need and what size bit to drill out the hole? PS no, i didnt strip them, one came with the motor i put in my loyale(thanx again, scott). and the other was partially stripped on my 86 but it has a little thread in the end of the hole. thanx folks, RV
  20. so i guess what we've found out is that these thing vary. alot. i just lucked out and have two that are similar. RV
  21. to clear up any confusion my light(s) do come on above the E. and to weather or not it actually has 2.4 gallons i dont know, thats just what the owners manual said. RV
  22. in the owners manual for my 86 wag and my 91 loyale wag it says you have 2.4 gallons left when the light comes on. my light (both of them) come on around 1/8 of a tank (2.4ish gallons). it sounds like either you dont have a light(unlikely but possible) or its malfunctioning. HTH RV
  23. 86. end o story. and for those interested not all loyales had wind deflectors stock. RV
  24. Subruise replied to okie bill's topic in Shop Talk
