I think thats normal my legacy does that every morning when its cold for about 20 seconds then its fine. Idles perfectly the rest of the day when warm at 500-650rpms

My 83 wagon does the same things described and then some. Sometimes its just normal but others it creeks grinds clicks jerks and wobbles. Can't track it down I know the axle nut is tighter then heck. Maybe the wheel bearings is the problem? Its starting to do it on both front wheels now. It sounds like my whole front end is going to fall off!

Ok SOO... I counted all the "I'll be theres" and the "can I meet up with the caravan somewhere cause i'm too far away from southcenters" lol. We got. Me (der.) Sparkster. 84 scoobaroo but he sounds like he wants to leave earlier now. Ratty2Austin confused about what hes bringing. Turbone wanting to leave earlier or meet us up at tacoma mall? Baccaruda wanting to maybe meet us somewhere? All Talk wanting to meet us somewhere? Subaru 420 can meet us at southcenter Zefy wondering if his 79 can go fast enough to meet us at southcenter in time for the caravan. Maybe next week we can all swap cell #s or something and be able to meet up with people along the way. Seems like a kinda small caravan right now but I know of a few more people coming. Or maybe we could scrap this and join the eariler caravan instead. :-\

Hrm everyone seems to want to leave earlier? I will be taking friday sat sunday and monday off so I guess we can leave whenever if I am whats making everyone meet at 12. Meeting at 7:30am would be fine with me as well, beat alot of traffic... I did go out and buy a remaned alternator from action auto for 150$ but its got a lifetime warranty so thats good. But it also might screw plans up for people who won't be checking this post again and show up at 12 and wonder where the heck everyone is.

If you just look at it you will figure out how to do it. I just did this today the battery was killing my alternators I notice it runs with lower idle smoother idle and doesn't jump around as much. I need to wire up a volts gauge so I can see whats happening from now on. Theres basically a couple bolts holding on a cover that goes over the alt belt (and ac belt if there.) Then theres the bolt that holds the left part of it on with a little weird nut with prongs to grip the alt. On the left you have to loosen the tensoner by unscrewing it a bit then unbolt the bolt thats perpindicular to the radiator. All you need is 10 and 12mm sockets, or wrenchs. Take the belt off undo the 2 wire harnesses going to the alt. Pull it off, put in new one do the reverse. Hope this helps.

Sooo... Money is gonna be SOOO tight for me to drag one of my delapitated cars down to hood river... With the legacy's frying an alternator and having just replaced it and having to replace the battery and replacing the muffler! Totally running out of money 150$ for a rebuilt alt 300 from the stealership and 75$ from the auto recking. It would be 13.00 if it was at pap!!! Guess I might just have to go in the wagon

Thats PIMP!!! side note... Corky do you happen to have any ej22 alternators lying around that I could buy? I need one and all pap legacys have missing alts/ engines. I think my battery keeps killing my alternators it was out of water...

I want a better sound, maybe better gas milage little bit more hp. What should I get? I don't want it to be overly loud... I'm thinking a glass pack would be super loud on this car, any ideas? My muffler does need replacing, its all rusted out and ghetto looking.

Ive had it up to 7k in 2nd gear and it just slowed down till i shifted and went again. That was by total accident though... I try to keep it under 6000:cool:

But I would be loosing back pressure and the computer is setup to run the injectors with certian back pressure isn't it? Any imput from people like Corky, Subiegal, Qman?

If I knew of an exhaust mod that didn't reduce gas milage and make the car puff out horrible emissions... I would do it. But I think no muffler would reduce hp and gas milage and probably make it run worse. I do want it to sound better and be louder though.

Just got back from the legacys first rally cross... It did all right it was an extremely bumpy hilly bottom outting course. So I wasn't pushing it because I knew I was going to have more fun on the rally stage on the way home hehe. On the way to the event I hit 90mph on a staight and into a corner. I wasn't expecting this car to grip so well on gravel with pretty much bald 14" tires. Came home, tore out my ac compressor because it doesn't work, woo hoo weight reduction stage 1 haha.

Doesn't look like anyone knows about them Its on a black pug turbo. The tires look to be matching. Set of 4 as of 7/25/04 at about noonish. The car was in very nice shape too it was at the back line by the fence. I put 3 of the wheels in the trunk and 1 is still on the drivers side front. Too make it look like an incomplete set... So check the trunk!!!

OH! and if u think it failed emission bad that time!!!!! You should see the fail sheet for my wagon with that carb on. Thats why I said GET A WEBER it will fix all the problems and also I said I'm sure it won't pass emissions... At least I was 100% honest about it dude. Seriously though if u get a weber it will pass.
