Haha It Runs!!!
SuperRallyRoo replied to SuperRallyRoo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I already said its FASTER now then it was when it was turbo! Its got the 5spd d/r, accell super coil, new plugs, wires, new alt, new oil just lots of new * and less miles then the turbo engine had. I would never think of going BACK to turbo. I may ej22 it though! I'm working on a super charger idea. -
Ok after 1 year and 2 months of tinkering engine swaps and problems my now unturboed wagon runs like a champ. Idles at 700rpm, goes quicker then it did when it was turbo! I was having major fuel pump issues and I got that all figured out, I have no return line anymore and the pump will stop when its at pressure. It doesn't make any weird noises anymore and all it does is go mmmm click mmmm click every few seconds. Now to see if it will pass emissions haha I'm gonna take it to the emissions dude to make sure it will pass. I'm sure it will the exhaust smells like a hair dryer being blown in your face.

I so knew you were gonna post that haha. I wonder if I could use the volvo? sense its already yellow, 2wd and n/a. MAN that car would rule I could race with it forever lol.

You get a cheapo car paint it yellow and black and smash into the other cars or something on a figure 8 track.

I had the same idea... I saw it done with an xt the last time I was there. It was a fwd model. I don't think they would let you run a 4x4 subaru?

Need Throttle cable!!!
SuperRallyRoo replied to carfreak85's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I am pretty sure its ALL THE SAME I took used the same cable from when I had the turbo engine and it worked for the hitachi and I messed that up when I went to weber and then back to hitachi so just go get a ea81 n/a cable from pap. -
I need to know because my fuel pump for my unturboed wagon just crapped out on me because its hardwired to an accessory lead. I think it can't stand the constant power when its at idle. So I need to know if I where to hook it up to the turbo plug at the back of the car if it would even work or not? I do not have the ecu hooked up. I'm hoping its controlled by the disty advance somehow but i'm not sure. I also need to know how the ea81 n/a is controlled if its the same way or not? Any help would be great! Please help me!:-\ I forgot to mention I did swap out the fuel pump when I did the swap with a n/a fuel pump.

The wagon runs again, I need to figure out how to get the water temp gauge to work and also I need a oil pressure gauge. Does anyone know how I would wire up a oil pressure gauge on a ea81? I assume I would have to buy a electronic oil pressure gauge but i'm not sure. Also, where is the water temp sensor on the ea81s? Any help would be great, thanks!

Trying NOT to cry over smashed XT.

Women once hit me at a when i was stopped at a light my friend was in the car, he complained of neck pain I said i'm ok, well the next day my neck hurt REALLY BAD. I got nothing for it, my friend got 500$ because the fire department came and all that stuff and checked him out. She hit us going over 40mph. (didn't do anything to our car) Gotta love the volvos with the 50mph bumpers. -
1981 gl hatch. Bought it for 800 needed lots of work, (still does) Fixed alot of stuff like vice grips holding exhaust on. Webered it, been out on one mini hatch patrol outing, don't know if that means i'm a part of it or not? The hatch has 27" kumhos but I usually roll around on the 13" wagon wheels when i'm on the street. Done lots of stereo mods It has a 1500watt amp with mtx 10" subs Pioneer 3 ways in back and 2 ways up front. Its a fun multi colored beast! Black hood maroon body beige fender blue rear hatch. Heres a pic. This is a better pic i think.

We had a 1996 Vw Vr6 passat wagon for 2 years with the 5spd manual, it was a pile of garbage. We didn't trust the dealers at all they lied out there rump roast. They put the steering wheel on wrong when they fixed the ignition switch recall and told us "Oh well maybe u didn't notice that b4 and our specialists say your alignment is off!" The brakes in the back cost like 900$ to replace and a oil plug popped out of one of the heads and lost all the oil... So we had the clutch replaced while we where at it that was a 1800$ job for a $2.00 #*$&ing oil plug! The ABS warning light would always come on and go off and would have no abs and then abs a few days later. Before the ignition system was fixed the lights would randomly go off cause the key would fall into the off position. The interior was NICE and it was very very quick for a big wagon. Faster then a wrx wagon... Had various engine mods which made it not pass emissions for the dude who bought it from us for 8000$ All I can say is despite all its quirks I do REALLY miss that car. It got about 18mpg in the city and 25 on the highway. (drove hard) Good luck... Oh and the handling!!! It had 17" rims with low profile tires and that thing handled like a small italian sports car. Tons of grip except in the snow. ALSO! What the last guy just said about the volvo V70. I worked for volvo those are the NICEST cars out there... Wow I'm not sure if the new volvo V70R is out yet I think it is. But they have the titanium edition volvo V70 that is just Sweet! The R's have 300hp going to an AWD system and the handling is awesome.

What causes that Subaru ticking?
SuperRallyRoo replied to Subafly's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Put in a quart of castrol dexron 3 ATF. My hatch won't run good without it. TIcking magically goes away as it lubricates and cleans the engine. I'm serious... -
My 1980 outback! (wagon makeover)
SuperRallyRoo replied to Ratty2Austin's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Glad it turned out ok... My hand is like a claw j.k. Maybe we can talk later. -
Yes my ea81 hatch did not use to diesel over with the old hitachi... But now that I got my weber on there it does it at times. I usually have it in gear when it happens so I just let off the clutch and kill it. Can't do that on an automatic though.
