YET again! Thank you thank you! It will be a good week or two before I get to this. Carb first. but it looks for the most part straight forward. I am sure I will have questions when I do it.

I noticed today that the right front of my car was making a weird clicking noise when i was turning. specifically uphill and to the right it made a lot of noise. Could this be related to my CV boot being torn/ in bad shape?

Alright guys I will be getting a new carb and stuff tonight it looks like. should get here next week. Hoping to basically just be able to bolt it on in one day. One thing I am concerned about/don't know how to do it, is the water valves and pcv stuff (basically what do I need to plug?) I read Loyale 2.7's thread on it, but basically got confused because there are so many edits to it that say this is the way, no this is the way. So can someone clear it up for me?

Okay so as I have posted recently, my car has been randomly dying and then i have to sit there and try to restart it for a good 10-30 min. When I am doing this, it will catch and rev up then die again. Usually a couple times. (my only thought on this is that the carb and jetting are way off for the high elevation i live at) That is why I am going to be doing a weber carb swap in the next month most likely. Buttttttt I noticed a lot of black around the end of my muffler and black specks behind the muffler on the snow like they shot out. Then today someone told me my valve seals are probably bad and I am blowing oil. They told me to do a compression test, and get the stock numbers for what the compression should be. and they said that this could be a huge factor for why I get bad gas mileage. So Ultimate Subaru, give me the low down. What am I looking at? What do I do? What do I need? How much will it cost? Can I replace the seals myself? Oh and today I drove up to the mountain, higher elevation then where I live (i live at like 6,500 ft, and the resort is at almost 8,000 i believe.) and the car would not start to come back down. Put new oil, windshield fluid, in. Adjusted hill holder. Detailed the inside. Put air in tires. General maintenance.
