Auto have you check the vacume modulator on trans is not ruptured the diafram any white smoke ? also have you replaced the diss cap ? have seen many rotors arc to the shaft of diss thru the center of rotor striat down the center look for burns on bottom of rotor. This whould get worse hotter it gets and longer it runs and more load its under. Just a thought

ej swap spfi question
Have run the spi stand alone but never on ej motor this whould be crazy hard to get the right signals outa the ej motor if you could find a way to boltup a diss to ej but then plug wires coil ect I'm shure it would work good and get decent mpg. But apples to oranges better to find a ej harness to put into your car

I am looking for more power down low below 1000 RPM
The stock turbo 2.2 cams kill the delta cams 10 to one. Anyway have heard about a offset pin to hold cam gears to alow for addvance of cam gear might help. I also like the above idea of 1.8 heads valves are same size but ports are smaller this may help bottom end. Also converting to 98 and up roller valve train may help bottom end. Or like I said a small sniff of Nos hooked to wot switch a dry 15-20 shot will kick it in the pants but not break anything and it can be timed out

97 Outback girl needs help!
ivans imports replied to Eva's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXHave done so many of this engine latly i can tell exactly how good bottom end is by listening on cold startup any more than half to 3/4 of a seconed for oil light to go out bottom end is getting tierd also any knocking Other than piston slap on startup is bad. Am talking about in the very 1rst 1 second of startup is when the motor will talk to you After 1rst start must wait till compeatly cold to try again. Anyway I fix this problem all day every day. But if still runing ok I whould redo headgaskets and good to go. Or look for good 2.2 engine from wreakers

99 Legacy Center Differential. pulling hair out. not much left.
As of late have been fixing the 97 and up awd unit by installing the 97 and older awd tailshaft/ rear trans assembly into newer trans units the older awd is way stronger and is direct fitt. had two outbacks in 2 days both smeared awd units fixed both with older awd units and fixed and way better awd., It takes one newer trans and one older trans to do this but worth doing

ej205 pistons into ea82t?
So if you compare the above gasket with oem subaru you will find the subaru one has extra steel wraps on the lower coolat pasage along the fire ring is just two small bitts of wraped steel but makes all the difference in keeping the comp outa the coolant sestem and keeping the fire ring round. This was a weak spot and subaru knew it so they beefed up the gasket

Problems with 92 Legacy
ivans imports replied to ilvbugs's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI a'm never changing sensers other than O2s subaru sensers fail very rarely but they have all sorts of wire harness problems but very few senser problems. 95 % of the time is a broken wire or power feed problem. Ex had a 01 outback Tps code over and over the customer had put 3 sensers in car still tps code changed engine wire harness problem gone and never came back was a broken wire somwere in engine harnes. It had passed all contanuity tests and muti meter tests anyway is good idea to check out wireing before blaming sensers

99 Legacy Center Differential. pulling hair out. not much left.
I have fixed the center diff before is very hard and has to be pressed togther to get snap ring in also has about 60 peices to it that are stacked in very specific way any discks damaged will no go back togther. Best bet is new trans also i find that when i reinstall them putting in 4.5 L of gear oil helps them to last came with 3.8 but is not enuff to keep center diff in oil all the time so extra 3/4 of a L keeps the level up enuff to help center diff stay cool and last

I am looking for more power down low below 1000 RPM
boo on the delta cams put in a set in 2.2 and lost alot of bottom end good 3000and up but 1000-3000 dog was very dissapointed with them. Give it a sniff of NOS like a 15 hp shot jsut to get it outa the hole or mabee find a way to slightly addvance timing
