  1. I fit under dining tables... right next to shiney engines!!! Passes: Nobody bit on "watershed"... 63sumpinsumpin. Coming over from Cheyenne to Laramie I was up to 8609(?). No wonder I feel light headed... or is that sleep deprivation? Subway sandwich was a sweet onion grilled teriyaki chicken... a footer, so I could have some later. Stop... See... Enjoy!!! Butte! I also saw a large sculpture of a jackelope... took a picture... I even stopped to do so. Thanks all. I have plenty of practice sleeping in cars... and on floors. Don't need nuttin fancy. But now it is time for lasagna, then zzzzzs
  2. Hi folks. Thanks for all of your concerns and well wishes. Things are getting sorted out... the 4wd dieing was a real pain, and shows that even new, $20k cars can have troubles. That, and I was really wishing for a 4wd lever that I could just pull. I lost all of the wiring on the tow dolly... they routed some of it inside the fender well, so when Snow was kicked up on it it just iced over and eventually broke under the weight. Same for the wiring exposed along the axle. Thank goodness for wallyworld. The passes were pretty nasty, and was especially unpleasant when the 4wd didn't work. Things should be better now... ice storms notwithstanding. The high points have all been the people along the way. Pat out in Moxee, Monstaru and Baccaruda in Spokane, Caboobaroo here. And, amazingly, several auto service people like the Speedy Lube guy in Bozeman and the Ford Service guy in Douglas, WY, who had 3 days of work scheduled before me, but took the time to do some general diagnostics and call around for a shop that wasn't swamped. And, not to sound too cheesy, you folks.
  3. Also, if anyone knows what the * or # combo is to tell the local provider that you are in their area (so that Waldo can recieve calls on the road), Waldo would really like to know.
  4. Waldo is a weary wayfarer. Profound thanks to spokidoki folks for keeping me alive. Waldo learned a lesson: When it comes to safety issues, don't rely on lube shop techs. "36psi all around in the tires" HA! 17psi in left rear, all others wonky. After 4th Of July, had some fireworks as Waldo's two vehicles tried to express their independence, each trying to take the lead while going downhill. 6 seconds of excitement, just 4 seconds short of a Brown Alert. Potatoes were enjoyed for 90 minutes, then off to the 4th largest state in the USA. Waldo was spotted at buying a subway sandwich by a town where the river runs through it... or at least near it. What type of sandwhich?Approached a town with a name unfortunately similar to a part of the anatomy... and no, it has nothing to do with the French-named mountains. Some of the signs announcing the city were intersting: "Stop, see, enjoy..." Passed a major watershed on the trip. Waldo was also seen at the World Museum of Mining. Guess what the highest point on Waldo's adventure has been so far? Waldo has been up since spoki, with a couple catnaps... he is going to dig out a tranny, repack, and zzzzzz Waldo will check in later.
  5. Before Waldo stuff: I am currently at Caboobaroo's in Laramie... just got in. 36 hours from spokane to Cheyenne. Lost 4wd... real trouble between Ceour d'alene and missoula, and again around Casper. Nearly lost it into the ditches a couple times. Lost the trailer light wiring due to snow/ice. Had to go to wally world and get some magnetic tow lights. After leaving Bozeman, I smelled hot ATF... turned around and found a Speedy Lube to check it out. No leaks, no low level, color smell reasonable... they recommended doing nothing. Honest place... I later decided that the smell came from my cargo; either the TC right next to my heater vent, or one of the trannies behind my head. Anyway, the coupe and dolly are sitting in lock-up at Cheyenne Ford, a 4wd control box is on order for morning delivery/install. Hopefully, the control box will fix it; its the only part that they didn't test as *not* bad.
  6. Today I met some more fine people. There of course is Pat of Moxee... interesting guy to talk with and several interesting cars and projects... including a car with a VERY expensive paint job. And monstaru, here in the eastern edge of WA. He and his family are kind enough to put me up for the night, feed me, and let me bathe... good thing for everybody concerned. Barracuda dropped by, and the 3 of us talked for far longer than my schedule would permit. Some things are more important than schedules, and I will just have to make it up later. I enjoyed every minute of it. In a couple hours I will be off again, heading to Caboobaru's. A very long leg, I will have to leave early so that I can take my time.
  7. Waldo has had a fun day. As some of you may have noticed, Waldo does not type well at 6am. Waldo passed the two largest wooden dome structures in the USA (world? ). He also passed by (but not too close!!!) the place where plutonium was made for the Manhatten project. He thought about taking pictures, but the thought of spending 20-life with a cellmate named Bubba was unappealing... Waldo now has a 32 year old following him wherever he goes. In fact, Waldo and the 32-yr old got hitched. Waldo wears a lot of shorts. Waldo got hitched in shorts, and boy is snow COLD when laying down in it. He then drove 100 miles along a 2-lane "shortcut" that was unplowed and slushy. A tow dolly makes a great toboggan!!! Right wheel hits slush that the left one doesn't, and off to the side we go!!!! Waldo also forgot that he was going to go to the big city and get some fodd and maybe a little GAS. Shortcut was through limbo: No food and definitely no gas. So, get to the town named after a literary character that loved his mother, run out of gas in purgatory, or lose it off of the side of the road. Note to Waldo: Shortcuts and trailers don't mix. Food, 10 zs, definitely a shower, and Waldo is off again. Oh... how high did Waldo get today? And how many miles did he go?
  8. Waldo is on the move! He was seen digging out of his driveway, and heading south. He will soon be passing over a bridge who's predecessor was immortalized by a cameraman who shot the bridge's demise on B&W film. IWaldoRC, the car seen in the footage is the camermans! He will then be heading north/northeast past a city whose name is also a color similar to the color of Bucky92's hair. The city's "claim to fame" is having the largest (at the time of build) mall this side of MN. It also has a large casino nearby that is owned by a local tribe. Later, if I was "all talk" I would look for a package outside my gate that is just grist for my mill. For my next stop, to load a car in the dark and cold it takes this slang word for grit and determination.
  9. This reminds me of a joke, about a guy who gets a flat tire outside of the a prison for the criminally insane... "I might be crazy, but I'm not stupid!" Well, I am not usually both at the same time. TTFN! Pat
  10. I almost went to bed without mentioning/thanking the members that I met today. There's edrach... well, really, MRS edrach, seeing as how ed was watching our local professional sports team choke yet again. At least when my daughter and I went last week the Seahawks won. Anyway, if edrach is nearly as nice as his wife then he is a great guy. And mudrat79, who was not having a good couple of days... made my problems with a cranky trailer seem minor. Mudrat, hopefully you made it home and to sleep without incident. Swisscheese is sending some free brake parts off to Ohio. Thanks for posting where Waldo was! Dropped down to qman's, who helped me to repack the truck to make room for an engine and a pacel of wheels. In the process of rearranging things, he "cured" by cranky trailer problems. ...and Mrs. qman (qwoman???) and Billy. Then, turbone shows up and we shoot the breeze for far longer than I should have but much shorter than I wanted to. Gotta go back after the trip when I have more time. And several times during the day there was always moosen, helping however he could. Thanks for re-scheduling the pickup for the morning... I I never was much good dialing and driving. I think I got everybody, and apologize if I forgot someone. Manana (<-- there is a tilde there)! Pat
  11. Ok, I am back where I started. Note to self: Next time ( ) preload everything. Today was just a dress-rehearsal... yeah, that's the ticket! Tomorrow, once more into the breach! Pat
  12. Waldo is about to catch some zzzz back where he started 250 miles ago. But thanks to qman for excorsizing Waldo's gremlin... much happier towing now!!!!
  13. Maybe Godspeed, but the Devil's travails. I am at home now. Today obviously did not got as planned. Nothing serious (as it turns out), but time consuming and worrying. Tomorrow is a new start. Sorry Bucky92 for not seeing your post yesterday... I was attendig to stufff ahat I should have dealt with much earlier. Thank you for your thoughts. Pat
  14. Well my guess is... I'm calling it a night and heading home. Been chasing gremlins and freight all day. Bright and early tomorrow I will start again. Waldo
  15. Waldo is leaving the town where the USS Missouri was moored for many years until being moved to Hawaii.
  16. Jason, I just talked to John. I am heading out the door now (almost 5 hrs behind sched!), and will meet up with him soon.
  17. Start-out Update: I am still at home 10am PST, trying to dig myself out and take care of last minute things. Snowing... Pat Pardee (360) 377-4582
  18. Ummm... I'm not sure that I have heard about this stop (might just be my swisscheese memory. Tell me about it... I will check in again after a few zzzz, around 8am-9am. *edit I found your PM. Only a 40 mile each way diversion, shouldn't be a problem except for coordinating the pickup... I'll have to figure day and time of transit after some sleep... or you can try based on me leaving Laramie early morning on (Saturday???)
  19. It doesn't look like I got it yet. *edit DUH! I have too few brain cells to connect real names with screen names... I did get your email and responded. end edit*
  20. Do you want me to wave as I drive by you? Sat morn can be kind of tough for people... it looks like it won't be a picnic for me, either. Everybody is worried about "the S-word".
  21. Mudrat called me and was talking about coming down in the afternoon after doing stuff Seattle-area. Sounds like for him it would be better if I met up with him in seattle area.
  22. I am still shooting for an early departure, which means morning. If I get a couple hours sleep after my shift, I would like to leave here around 8am, be at Qman's around 9am. Not a real problem stretching that arrival to 10 or 11am, but anything more might cause me some trouble making the first stop-over. I still have to stop at edrach's and swisscheese's (IIRC), and connect with mudrat, probably in seattle area.
  23. Probably just do that same making the negative mold as the positive part: Mold release, maybe some gel coat, deck cloth, roving or matt, build the thickness a little. I was also thinking of putting I some stiffener bosses for a removable stiffener... removable so that you can remove the mold from the original and/or the new piece. (I haven't done this yet, but been planning to try it.)
  24. Definitely same for EA82. I know there were others i wanted...
  25. Newton's First Law of Motion: "Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it." A pulley moving at a uniform rate of motion (angular or otherwise) neither absorbs or releases energy. The pulley could weigh 1 gram or a ton, and the dyno will show the same power produced by the engine. The difference comes when the rate of motion changes (i.e. accleration or deceleration), in which case their will be an exchange of energy between the pulley and the engine; an engine with the lighter pulley will feel more responsive. But it will not result in differences in steady-speed dyno numbers. Regarding the intercooler, I didn't see any pressure figures for the intake system. This could show (especially as a differential to the turbo outlet pressure) whether the IC was too restrictive.
