  1. Clayton, Miles is right about it being a blind boss. GG, IIRC MS (too many initials!!!) uses MAP and doesn't need MAF. Either way, I am pretty sure that it compensates. And he is probably using the SAAB APC's knock sensor, which explains not needing the Sube one. i think that MS can utilize a knock sensor, but no real need unless it is "&EDIS" or similar. I think that the APC system is superior to system that just retards spark. oddcomp can let you know if I am full of s... er, wrong answers.
  2. Another possibility is trouble in secondary-voltage Land, as in bad plug wires or plugs. Bad wires caused no end of gremlins for me recently, and it doesn't take much wiggling around before a marginal wire goes bad.
  3. ...and there is PLENTY of nowhere in Montana, and some more getting there.
  4. Hey Clayton... If you come across an APC in your neck of the woods I'll pay you to pull it for me. More simple to have a Pro-person (or is it "more Pro to have a ..." ???) do it than for me to do it right now. And I may need one soon.
  5. Well, I did this trip just last month. Except it was in the reverse direction. And it started in Seattle-area. And continued to Connecticut. And back. In the snow. Towing a Subaru instead of driving one. It should be a pleasant fun trip. Take your time and enjoy it! Pat
  6. Gary, my wife's 87 twagon/3at has plastic tanks/aluminum core. Pretty sure my 90 twagon is the same (too lazy to check ). According to my radiator guy, there is very little difference in Subaru radiators... most of the differences are in the bottom mounting pegs and top mounting holes.
  7. Why would you want full coverage on a $550 car??? Premiums would eat up its value in no time. My agent/friend says that unless the car is over $5000 or so, full coverage makes no financial sense. $0.02 worth...
  8. IIRC, there was also an issue regarding the fuel return line... either the carb didn't have one or it was inadequate for the flow/pressure of the EFI systems.
  9. A little patience is in order. Today is a Sunday in the USA, and also a big sports day here (championship match for our version of football). You should get more response later tonight or tomorrow. I don't have any really good advice for you, except I would suggest pulling the engine and transmissions as a unit, and installing them the same way. I am assuming same type of each in both cars. I know nothing about lifts, but it may be slightly easier while engine/trans removed.
  10. Pardon my ignorance, but what is an "SS Subaru"?
  11. This is the best place in the world to get Subaru help... at least for under $200 per hour!
  12. During the many hours available during the last 2 weeks to contemplate my navel, I was also thinking midengine... ... taking a wagon, lengthening it with a rear section, installing an ea82t (now *I* wasn't thinking big enough!) in the back-seat region, and an AWD tranny behind it. The front shafts service the normal rear wheels, and the rear output nearly-direct-connects to a diff, servicing a set of wheels just behind the others. Tandem rear axles! (Thus the reason for the added section.) Maybe rework SW into Brat-like rear end, and then you have a really weird truck. (What, nurse? Time for my lithium? OK...)
  13. 3rd person to suggest checking timing belts. Check to see if the distrib rotor is turning like calebz suggests.
  14. In a recent (December) thread, someone local mentioned that they had "piles" of the crank sprockets, so perhaps they have piles of the cam sprockets, too. Want me to find the reference and ask ther person? BTW, preeeety. I would still prefer variable sprocketry, but this is definitely a step in the right direction.
  15. Yes, the wheels did have a long and winding road. I am glad they finally got to you. I will add my personal thanks to McBrat for being the waypoint, and for Snowstormer to take them up to you. Thanks to all of you folk! A Dog, those wheels traveled right by you... twice.
  16. Waldo is... Safe at home! This isn't over yet. I still have lots of "guess what this means" and "make you think" stuff. To start with, anyone want to guess high and low temps? and where they were? How about total miles?
  17. Waldo is... Homeward Bound! In the Rose City, dropping off frua-frua to Mr. Styles to replace is mushroom farm. Next stop, XSNRG's if he is home, as I have 300-400 lbs of 4eat to offload. A little excitemant... after passing the stomping grounds (killing fields?) of Diane Downs, and entering the home of the Ducks, my McD's repast was interrupted by noticing a tire that was decidely not right. Turns out a dolly tire had a slow leak, and had started to throw tread and break belts. Thanks to my Dbl Cheesburger and fries, I did not die a horrible death on the freeway tonight. That will come from my creaking arteries... I'm off!!! XSNRG, if you read this, give me a call to refresh my directions... I REALLY do not want to have to schlepp this tranny back down to Olympia later!
  18. Waldo has added many new state stamps to the side of the Waldo Exploder. Yesterday,he almost visited Dollywood, picked up a red wagon for his 15 year old and her dolly, and headed north past the birthplaces of "give em hell Harry" and a member of The James Gang (NOT Joe Walsh). Stopped in astate known for its corn and soybeans, and leaving to pass through another state known for the same. Next stop, the Mile High City. (some transient thought about a club for Mile High residents...)
  19. ShawnW, McBrat was a few minutes ahead of you on the t-bar. should be coming. I am about to leave his house... ETA late tonight 11p-12a, or early am tomorrow. Would prefer tonight... please give me a call as to how late you would receive me. (360) 265-2479 Caboobaroo... looks like you will be visited Saturday either AM (I hope) or early afternoon. Let me know if this won't work. I am pulling a long trailer, so don't know where I would park... maybe a touch and go, though a shower would be really nice. Will, got your trailer. Just readjusted load, will have to see how it pulls. (Did ok before, but tongue loading was soooo high that the trailer jack dragged (badly) on gas station drive ramps.) I want to go home... Getting close!
  20. I can provide you with b00stingsx contact info if you want it. Just those two folks. Take your time with the square-up part... make sure that tranny works ok. I think its price may have dropped considerably.
  21. Odd, don't make me drag you out of your cardboard box and haul your sorry derierre to middle-America!!! I've been busy... workin' HARD... workin' nights... and weekends... workin' HARD! If I had my druthers, I would click my heels together and chant... Pizza and whatnot at 3am??? I'm up for it!
