  1. Or you'll never get it down! (clicky the picky)
  2. you could make a set of "hybrid" A/C lines that meet the stock evaporator at the firewall and merge with the EJ compressor on the EJ22. Wiring up the compressor might be interesting but would certainly be less work than the engine wiring itself. I think most people use the stock crossmembers in their EA cars; you may have to slot the holes for the motor mounts and perhaps grind off a couple of alignment "nipples" on the bottoms of the motor mounts.
  3. Nice find! Hope you got it for the price you wanted The rear end clunk may be the top bushing in the rear differential mount. Fix that rust on the rear end YESTERDAY. Fer serious. That will be swiss cheese next spring if you don't. Keep your eyes open for a dead GL10 wagon with spiff interior! Good luck!
  4. I give it a thumbs up!
  5. There are a lot of old subarus in your area. You'd be lucky to get $500 for it with the problems it has. The plus side is that most of them would be inexpensive to fix.
  6. Thanks, I've got my name on a 2.5RS transmission at Spaldings. 98 Impreza 2.5RS ________TY752V2DAA from my list.
  7. Thanks Josh. Every transmission in that list I typed is a 4.11 ratio.. I could always match the diff if I put in a different ratio but I'd prefer to keep it original. Changing the electrical components wouldn't be hard either.... cheers!
  8. Hello, I have a 2001 Legacy Outback Wagon which has a bad 5-speed transmission. I have the following list of possibly compatible transmissions and their part numbers and originating cars.. I'm concerned about whether the wiring harnesses will interchange. If anyone can help me narrow this list down it would help me immensely I also have pictures of the wiring harness on the bad transmission which is after the list. Thanks! 5MT Transmission (Push Clutch) 93 Impreza _____________TY752VX3AA 94 Impreza _____________TY752VX3CA 98 Impreza 2.5RS ________TY752V2DAA 99-01 Impreza 2.5RS _____TY754VCAAB 02-03 Impreza 2.5RS _____TY754VFBBA 04 Impreza RS ___________TY754VC4CA 97-98 Forester __________TY753VJ1AA 99 Forester _____________TY755VC1AA 00-01 Forester __________TY755VC1BA 02 Forester _____________TY755VC2AA 03 Forester ____________ TY755VC3AA 04 Forester (NA) ________ TY755VC4AA 94 Legacy OB ___________TY752VAAAA 95-96 Legacy OB ________TY752VABBA 97 Legacy GT __________ TY752VACBA 97 Legacy OB ___________TY752VACCA 98 Legacy GT ___________TY752V2DAA 98 Legacy OB __________ TY752V2DCA 99 Legacy GT ___________TY754VCAAB 99 Legacy OB ___________TY754VCACB 00 Legacy OB ___________TY754VCACA 00 Legacy GT __________ TY754VCADA 01-02 Legacy GT ________TY754VCBDA 03-04 Legacy L _________ TY754VCDAA 03-04 Legacy GT ________TY754VCDDA 03-04 Legacy OB / Baja ___TY754VCDCA 05 Legacy / Baja _________TY757VCACA 05 Legacy OB ___________ TY757VWAAB
  9. Wow. Glad you're OK. any idea what happened? Any history of loose or worn injector components? That looks like a gasoline fire....
  10. double offset joint or something. The rear axles' ends are both DOJs and can be completely disassembled; the front axles' inner ends are DOJs and the fronts' outer ends are CVJs - Constant Velocity Joints - and are pressed together. You can take them apart with a hammer and cold chisel but you can't put them back together. Do you have How To Keep Your Subaru Alive? It's got some such details.. http://www.worldwidecm.com/HTKYSA.pdf
  11. are they magnetic? (is this question dumb enough for this thread? )
  12. I never heard anything in the news either... glad you're OK though. I got front calipers from an XT6 and the caliper mounting brackets from what I believe was a 2.5RS but I didn't pull them myself and it was a while ago. The calipers required a tiny bit of grinding but fit properly. This allowed me to retain the front E-brake with a 5-lug conversion. What that REALLY means it that it allowed me to put off moving the E-brake to the rear so XT6 font caliper brackets should accept 2.5RS front calipers and might require a little grinding. I don't know if any other EJ calipers will do the same.. I assumed that someone had found a way to make it work and posted about it, and I was right but it's been like 3 years since I searched for it.
  13. Couldn't you max. inflate the old tires and slightly underinflate the new one until broken in?
  14. good call; you may be able to relieve the caliper piston pressure a little by cracking the bleeder screw open.
  15. I'm going to have to give you a point for that one..
  16. Anybody have an account? Please and thanks? 4s3bh675516624090 2001 Legacy Outback
  17. Well, you have room in your garage to do it yourself but it would take a lot longer. Might not cost significantly less but DIY would spread out the cost...
  18. Someone else might have the goods for $100 or less; go thru GD's writeup and post an ad in the Wanted section... good luck!
  19. Some GLs have adjustable front struts which work the same as Uberoo described. Don't drive on them this way permanently or it will wear out your tires. Some GLs also have adjustable rear struts which can be cranked up permanently without damaging the tires; I believe it requires a spring compressor though. They will have 3 "steps" in the bottom perches.
  20. It's about damn time.
  21. I'd wrap some emery cloth around it and chafe it off uniformly instead of using a file.
  22. If all of the alternators were bought from the same shop, they might all have the same thing wrong with them. Have you taken the alternator(s) to an automotive electrical shop to bench test them?
  23. Does anyone have an already-blown EA81 digidash to send Connie to plug in? Galen? Rob?
  24. I know a dare when I hear one. Double down and pick her up from work in a borrowed or test-driven WRX.
