possibly stupid question
yeah if you had a diesel it'd be different. the injectors may be dirty if they sat unused for a while..

the toyota frame has the axles he wants for the samurai frame. I think.- hehehe

all that toyota needs is a lawn chair and a steering wheel and you've got a summer buggy!- ran across an interesting pic...
totally.. my wagon was taller than I am (5'5") even before I lifted it.. now I can barely reach the tailgate when it's open- EA81T oxygen sensor
i'll have to look at it again - I would definitely not want it to be like 2 feet after the turbo for instance...- ej fuel lines?
just get like 5 feet so you have extra.- EA82T and Trans
I'd suggest that unless you want to get into turbo tuning, that for more power you consider an EJ swap into a car with your transmission of choice. Much has been pioneered and troubleshot with such projects. You are in the middle of subaru heaven. There are many completed projects within a couple hours of you that you could easily view in person if you coordinate with the owner. I would suggest that you spend time reading the Retrofitting Forum posts regarding EJ swaps. There is a LOT to be read and grasped before you start on anything that has been discussed in this thread. Also -you're 18, as I see, and inexperienced as of yet - no offense, but don't get into something over your head. Unless you get really lucky with your parts cars, you're looking at a grand or two to accomplish any of these projects, and let's just say that when i was 18, I didn't exactly have money falling out of my (). I still don't and I have learned to at least double the forecasted time for any major project, just for safety. BTW a turbo car will cost you more in the end as they are much more finicky and higher maintenance. Good luck! Andy- 5 lug swap/ with lift, problems
my wagon's front tires look fine.... I used new GR2s for 92 Legacy .. I'm a little fuzzy on the year but they're the GR2s that have the highest spring perch position.. My control arms are the same length as everyone else's! it's got to be the struts.- 3EAT vacuum doohickey ????
where's the other end supposed to go? j/k thanks!- 3EAT vacuum doohickey ????
so I was regrounding the engine bay of the EA81T coupe with 3EAT trans and I found a vacuum hose that went to nowhere... it comes off of the top center of the trans, right above the governor and the hose is about a foot and a half long with a couple of formed bends, roughly 1/4" inner diameter.. I couldn't find it explicitly mentioned in my 84 FSM nor in a search here.. anybody smarter than I am?? thanks! Asny- New 87 RX...sorta ->
the motor or trans mounts might be shot. Pitch stopper too.- fuel gauge question
thanks guys. I didn't want to have to go dash shopping- EA81T oxygen sensor
thanks guys. If they are the same O2 sensors between EA81T and EA82T, as I was about to wonder, then that says a lot to me.- lookie here
holy !#@$ Jerry! looking good!- Think this custom mustache will do? ::UPDATE::
right. that piece looks good but you need to brace it so that it puts less stress on the stock un-reinforced parts. nice work!- fuel gauge question
I have an 86 analog dash that will shortly be swapped into my wagon. the needle on the fuel gauge is different than the other three gauges - it "floats" wherever it's positioned instead of sitting at "empty" or zero like the other three gauges. Is this standard for a fuel gauge or is it likely that the fuel gauge is bad? Thanks! Andy- EA81T oxygen sensor
I could, but parts for EA81Ts are much more rare, so I'm much more careful with it...- EA81T oxygen sensor
totally... I couldn't pass that one up! it was right after I'd gotten the car, too. Not yet installed.- bugger!
did you drop the steering column? 2 bolts... take off the plastic surround with a vent or two and the power mirror switch...- Front diff interchangeability: The true answer
not in North America!- EA81T oxygen sensor
Thanks for the inputs, guys. I actually have an intercooler for it. I plan to free up the exhaust - I already have a 2.5" exhaust, no muffler, and now a WRX downpipe to install later.. and I've mentioned that I might make a header for it. I will also chop the airbox out after I take it through emissions soon. I don't want to up the boost because I am aware that you have to "pay to play" and I frankly don't want to pay. It'll be nice enough to drive after I put a 5-speed in it and get the turbo freed up! When my 86 wagon was still turboed, I had a 2.5" open exhaust with catless downpipe/divorced wastegate, and chopped airbox, and it was fast enough for me.. never headered that engine but I wanted to badly!- EA81T oxygen sensor
I just picked up a WRX downpipe that is destined for my EA81T coupe. The WRX downpipe has the O2 sensor somewhat downstream of the turbo. The EA81T coupe's stock location for the O2 sensor is in the crossover pipe right under the turbo. After my wagon's reliably running, I'm yanking the engine to the coupe and doing some maintenance. This will include an upgrade to an EA82T watercooled turbo and changing the O2 sensor... and I might get crazy and weld up a header at Brian's. ???? Does it matter (to the EA81T ECU) whether the O2 sensor is before or after the turbo? I'd just as soon have it in an easier-to-maintain location... which would also let me skip installing a bung if I make a header. thanks!- EA 81 rear seat modification??
oops, sorry, didn't notice that you were talking EA81. I'm going to split the bottom of my 86 wagon's seat for the same thing. - new rig build.......56k beware
