  1. All the Outback "skid plates" I've seen were mearly splash guards. I'd get another one but wouldnt put much faith in it as a skid plate; should help keep your engine bay clean though. Also helps facilitate a nice bow wave if you ever have to ford some deep water.
  2. Awsome man! What did you end up doing for an adapter plate?
  3. That was so cool; I could literaly see the bumper carving out a ledge and then your tire packing it down. I simply put my right tires on it and came down!
  4. Yes; I've had a 2WD GL wagon and a 2WD Legacy wagon. Look in the rear end... no diff; no 4WD or AWD. It will also have badges if it's 4WD or AWD.
  5. Exactly; which is really unsafe when you are winching or yanking someone out!
  6. Those hooks suck and some places don't alow them. Thye break and bend easily. D rings or screw clevis.
  7. "frame rails" are not modified at all. I PM'd you more info.
  8. It will smash; exhaust pipe isnt for sliding on rocks under the weight of your vehicle. Cherry bombs arent super strong either; I've dented the crap out of them.
  9. Chux: legal tow points 1stGLwgn: I dig that a lot; expensive though!
  10. Because they are engineerd by a certified engineer. Pretty sure you guys can do that kind of stuff; as long as you get it engineer certified right? Just weld the thing up and don't tell anyone
  11. Time for some real bumpers on that tan EA81; chewed up those stock ones good
  12. I had a nice deck in my old Buick. Took some strap metal and screwed it in. Stupid thieves didnt figure it out; but they still screwed up a bunch of stuff trying to get it My KIA has a cheap deck. Detachable face and I take it with me out of the vehicle. Doubt many ppl are looking for phat loot in a KIA Rio anyway :-p Jeep guy did this one: Razor blades JB welded to the back of your deck
  13. SPFI Conversion Document http://www.mnchopshop.org/images/usmb/spfi_conversion_manual.pdf
  14. It's been brought to my attention that the link above is wrong. I can't edit the post for some reason. Here is the correct link: http://www.mnchopshop.org/images/usmb/spfi_conversion_manual.pdf
  15. You aren't going to convince Jeep duders that Subarus are any good offroad with pics on the interweb.... it's a Jeep thing; they dont want to understand. Pics on the web look wussy 90% of the time despite how crazy the situation was IRL. They will look at it and just say 'i could do that in a stock jeep'. I've showed lots of Jeep duders you can have fun in an old Subaru offroad by being out on the trails with them. By going on trails that several Jeep dudes wussed out on because they didnt want to get any dents or scratches. You gotta get out on the trails and show them that sure, you COULD do it in a stock Jeep... but ya didnt!
  16. Gotta say; thats retarded and unsafe.
  17. That is some amazing landscape there. Thank you for sharing your pics. Must have been pretty headie being there.
  18. Nope; like I said. Half tank of gas, few spare parts (nothing huge; heaviest thing would be an axle and alternator), and a full set of tools. Can't attest to the accuracy of the scales. I didnt ask about them; just hopped out, looked at the digital read out, and hopped back in.
  19. with or with out ? superswampers custom bumpers lift kit
  20. I fell asleep at the wheel and smacked a curb with my '81 Buick Regal (read: domestic) and spent $500 getting it repaired.
  21. Try that one on the far right next time
  22. My wagon weighed 3500+ lbs with a half tank of gas, some spare parts, and my junkyard tools. I weighted it on a truck scale.
  23. Ask AA what that 'receiver' is rated too; he's the one who built it.
