  1. Yes; I think it's Singletrack who runs cotter pins instead of spring pins.
  2. It's a percentage; not a flat number.
  3. Looks good; love the siped inner lugs and the sidewalls. Time to get dirty.
  4. Clean injectors? No oil leaks? This is not the Subaru way!
  5. If you ran it offroad it wouldnt matter at all really. Any bind up in the drive train would slip free due to the loose terrain. Lots of offroad vehicles run different gear ratios between front and rear diffs.
  6. I'm completly enlightend; it is a locking diff.
  7. I emailed the guy about this kit last time this thread came around My main question at the time was if the 6" lift kit was an all inclusive kit; and yes it was. mmmm... pics.... http://www.funonwheels.net/hirisesubaru/pages/generalgallery.htm
  8. Yep on one of those left hand side pop-panels I put in my switch for my fan. Made for such a clean install.
  9. There's NO import performance machine shop in N.carolina? Might have to find a reputable shop that knows what you want and send them your block. Expensive but done right it would be worth it.
  10. With the GL you have a lot of options but not all. GL10 you'll have some more. The XT and XT6s I've sat in had TONS of buttons and switches. One of the blocked off buttons you have in there is for air struts that arent equiped to raise/lower the vehicle.
  11. 1) Mechanic Stethiscope; every shade tree weekend warrior should have one. $5 at your local automotive parts/tool store. Use it to pinpoint all kinds of noises. 2) There is an airpump in your front left fender. It's an electric pump with a small resivour tank. Thats what pumps up your air struts via the switch in your cabin. Usually what fails are the rubber air bags themselves at the struts. They are quite expensive to replace with new ones and used ones almost always end up the same as the ones you replace. Most people switch to gas charged struts that came on models without pnuemantic suspension. A few people have stuck with the air struts; hopefully they can help you out in more detail.
  12. I would be consulting with a proshop that's built engines with oil squirters. They will know where to put them and how much pressure they bleed off.
  13. Check all your castle nuts Prolly about tiem to check all the nuts and bolts touched for your 4WD conversion. I know after I did my 4WD conversion I had a few left I found that needed to be tightend up.
  14. I'm glad he made the smart choice and changed his mind. People breaking the law in the name of offroad is why we are loosing access to trail systems that are decades old. It's our duty to offroad responsibly or anti-access groups will just keep lobbying local legislature and congress to continue eroding away offroading. They are fueld by images of people driving in illegal places like rivers, creeks, wetlands, ponds, boat launches, etc. It's very very hard to convince people of power that you are not out to simply destroy the enironment at the expense of your offroad hobby when they just saw a whole presentation from the oposition of people destroying wetlands and trout streams. I've been there, in front of a panel of state represenatives at our state capital, trying to convince them that we advocate responsible and sustainable offroading. The previouse speaker had a whole laptop + projection screen slide show presentation showing 'mudder trucks' in wet lands and atvs crossing trout streams. Help us help you; offroad legaly and responsibly. Join and support local clubs that advocate and activly support legal, sustainable, offroad.
  15. Flexing on rocks; thats what I'm talking about Jibs I think you can find a bigger one though
  16. Did real well right upto that flat tire. Funny seeing that big truck go through then a little wagon follow behind. MMmmmm.... body damage
  17. Engine design; just like why H4s sound different from I4s from I6s from V8s. They will even sound different from one another in the same catagory. Sure you can change the sound by the exhaust system; but thats not what made the sound what it was originally. The engine gives you its signature sound and the exhaust system changes it from there. It's all speculation and opinion anyways; were all talking about different engines, exhaust systems, and pure opinion on what it 'sounds' like. I don't think anyone here is right or wrong :-p
  18. ten dubya thirty castrol gtx.... DRIVE HARD !_!
  19. Great idea See if you can locate some minimum maintanace roads. They can be fun; just make sure you know if they are open or not. Most have seasonal and conditional closings due to flooding.
  20. He's talking about Honda bikes with a straight 4 in them and V-twin Harleys. You put open pipes, like a Harley, on a Honda and it will NOT sound like a Harley. You put Honda style pipes on a Harley and it will NOT sound like a Honda. Point is the sound comes from the engine; not from the exhaust system. Take the pipes off and set them on the ground.... they dont make any noise. Yes, the exhaust can alter the sound but the signature sound engines have is created from the engine. The design of the engine yeilds that signature sound; not the pipes bolted on to the engine which mearly masks the sound.
  21. Nice try but you aint gonna break a Subaru THAT easy Check fusible links; infact just replace them. Replace the fuse for horn/radio also. I've had fuses with hairline cracks I couldnt see but were still broke.
  22. I have a Cobra mounted to my glove box. Screwed the bracket to the glove box. Headunit mounts to bracket. Wish it was closer because there is no autoscanner for channels; I kinda have to lean over and turn the dial. Rather annoying when on the freeway but on the trails we just pick a channel and stick with it so its a nonissue there.
