  1. Ah Lumpycam; how come he never comes on here anymore? To busy welding up more sick rigs? That unhatched was really neat out there. Even though I couldnt see it I could tell it had mean gears somehow; so he had a 6" lift + tcase + 4.44 gear diffs. Was the suspension reworked for more extension; thus requiring the limiting straps to prevent pulling the DOJs apart? I kinda like the idea of EJ22 + 4EAT + tcase. Seemed to do very well with that setup. The 12" body lift was huge; couldnt even tell those were 35"s! I thought they were the same size as Lumpy's LOL. OK so thats why Qman's brat was driving on the trip home shots. Thats awsome his made it up there fine with all those extensive modificiations. Was he just running a hopped up EA81 then? I think ppl didnt notice Qmans so much because you made it look as easy as the bigger Tcase Subarus PLUS you got this Beasticon coming behind you that makes everyone say WTF IRL ?! Yeah the camera wasnt doing all those trails 100% justice. On some shots I could tell that the whole thing was pretty much uphill; ether steep or really steep and all of them had big rocks + sand! Having been out on the rocks a few times myself now I can really fill in the gaps where the camera tends to flatten everything out.
  2. They take stock jeeps on the rubicon all the time. Well equipt is the key there. A Forester with a 2" lift is not well equipt. Forester Ranger's got a well equipt Forester; I would check his out if you are going that route.
  3. Best Subaru movie thus far Zap. I've watched all of them several times now (rubicon + the other 5 subaru offroad videos) Definatly a hoot seeing Beasticon (aka: weeble wobble) go through most everything with ease. Qman's Brat was awsome; no tcase mod? Couldnt tell with that driving! Just worked that throttle and clutch to make everything look easy. I wont use duders first name in the brown Brat; does he have a handel on here? He's was pretty heavily modified too; did he have the tcase upgrade? Why did he have limiting straps; is there something special I didnt notice about the suspension? Did he drive there or trailer up too? Anyway I loved seeing those Subarus going big on the rocks; good thing ya had the welder! Looked like a seriouse PITA doing that stub in the diff Looks like such a fun place; not just the trails. The whole atmosphere seemed like a really special area to be. I can see why now there is so much hype around the Rubicon trails. Thanks ps: thx for the photos. that one beetle was so incredibly sick; straight out of a comic book and onto that dudes trailer! I still am not a big fan of mud though LOL Half those photos were of someone stuck! Ah well; mud is fun I just dont seek out the nearest mud pit. I enjoy some on the trails though
  4. From what I've read on here; it's a lot harder than an EA82 2WD to 4WD swap. There's a couple threads already on the subject that describe better than I can explain from memory. I did it on an EA82 platform and it was pretty straight forward. Only holes not drilled were the mustache bar mounts. However the EA81 platform is quite different
  5. Cool; hook up a link to them when you do. I love looking at perdy charts Thanks !_!
  6. Good times and great food. If ya weren't there ya should have been!
  7. Here's a simple answer: You arent making as much power, over stock, as you thought. Your motor is making more power than JWX's; just not as much as you had hoped for. 138 torque is sweet; don't sweat it Will Where did all your other dyno charts go? http://wjmrallyesport.com/dyno_charts/ is devoid of your old charts
  8. I don't care how deep it is. Check and find out if its LEGAL to do what you are asking about here. 1) do you have permission to be on that property. 2) are water crossings legal in your state? county? Here in MN its illegal to cross a stream, wetland, or river on your OWN property. This is because it pollutes and distrubs more than just your property; it flows according to the water shed to other peoples property or public property. Agree or disagree; its the law. Check with your local natrual resources departments on laws and regulations in your area.
  9. 1) No; Subaru is AWD. Jeeps have 4WD with real transfercases. 2) You will sit and spin. Open diffs front, rear, and center. Momentum will be what carries you through and AWD assisting. If you want to do 4wheel'n then buy something with 4 Wheel Drive. If you want a good daily driver and maybe go on some easy trails or minimum maintanace roads then AWD is fine.
  10. That's crazy deep. The hill you were dropping off is steep too; did you come up it also? Thats the one right near the mud pits right?
  11. Shoot some lube on all your pullies, especially timing belt pullies, and a little belt dressing. See if it stops; if not then look elsewhere. Also might have someone else start up the engine while you are under the hood. See if you can narrow it down.
  12. It's classified as type limited slip diff not as a type of locker though
  13. I think it's due to it having a large bore for a small engine. I've had equal length "headers" and equal lenght tubes coming off the heads. It still sounded mean; not like a Honda or any other 4cyl.
  14. Are you refering to an Audi Torsen diff? That's an LSD not a locker.
  15. I have one. No picture of it Apparently almost all EA82s over in europe came with the oil cooler; not just the turbo ones. Had a duder ship it over from there. There's an aftermarket company that makes one that fits. Can't remember who though; try a search as you might find it that way.
  16. Look'n good man. After that motor swap you should be ready to rage it on the trails. That new motor will help alot with moving those big meats. It will till be a dog; but once you get it in 4WD Lo it will go great. With those pugs; how is the clearance in the rear near your rear main subframe and swing arm hardware?
  17. I lift it up onto my floor jack that has the big cup; not my other floor jack with the tiny cup. Then I jack it up. This is where a friend comes in handy; leaning in from the front up top. They can hold onto the starter hole and steady it and lift it as you lift from below up ont the engine/engine crossmember. Also helps if that person can push forward on the engine. Lines up the dowels with the holes on the tranny easier. Without the weight of the tranny on the engine it wants to lean forward on the rubber engine mounts.
  18. It's possible to do it one day. Besure not to break or strip any bolts. Rust will slow you down; hopefully you have minimal rust to deal with. I'd definatly have someone on hand for the actual removal and installation parts where you need to drop and lift them. Even if you are big enough to do it yourself; saftey first monstaru; you don't need a hoist to do a tranny swap. Leave the engine in and just do the transmission. Most I've needed to drop a tranny was a bit of rope or chain; and that wasn't completly necessary.
  19. I tuck mine up into the drive shaft tunnel. Then exit right before the rear main subframe; so I dont have to go under it or over it.
  20. Primary suspect right there. Whenever something messes up on my Subaru I always start where I last touched it.
  21. Did it make this noise before he messed with it?
  22. I've orderd from them before. Prompt service and recieved what I orderd. No complaints thusfar.
  23. Sweet thx for the link to the pics. Next time you have to bring your own Hello Kitty hat!
