  1. Go buy a cheap mechanical temp guage and see if it's really over heating or not. If it really is I'd buy a new radiator. If it isn't I'd properly mount that new guage in the cabin and drive it like I stole it.
  2. Don't waste my tax dollars please. Go to a junkyard or steel yard and spend $15 of your own dollars, thanks.
  3. how is the EJ18 more powerfull and more reliable than the EJ22 ?
  4. Clean it? I can still see red dirt from Gilbert; he aint cleaning it! Wipe off the stereo and call it good
  5. You'll spend as much getting it rodded and brazed as you will buying a new $100 radiator
  6. My EA82 does this all the time. If it sits for more than a day she smokes. I think it's mostly water but I know on mine there's a bit of oil too. Possibly just water for yours. Smell is the best indicator and you say it's pretty odorless which indicates water.
  7. Tim; more than welcome. Might be a bit of a drive. What days work well for you? Austin? Tcat? Chux? What days work. So far we have two votes for SAT, OCT 8.
  8. I think with your fiddeling around you've introduced a vacume leak somewhere. Have you converted your PCV system to the Loyale style PCV system? Easy way to tell is if you have all 5/8th hose on your PCV system or if the drivers side has two smaller hoses and the rest of the PCV system has 5/8th hose.
  9. He's refering to the turbo model. Tougher swap from what I gather; all the EJ22T engines I've seen were hydrolic clutch. Clearance for exhuast manifold + upipe + turbo on that passanger side of the engine bay and at the main crossmember might be an issue. Will the drive train hold upto it? I think that really depends on how hard you beat on it
  10. Voltage regulator not regulating it at 14 volts. Alternators increase voltage with RPMs; thats how they work. The regulator keeps them at a safe level so you dont fry out your 12vdc circuts.
  11. MMmmmm.... love that Subaru smell; dripping fluids onto the cat. I'm more worried about the bubbles in my oil; and even then its more of a 'hmmmm, neat.... bubbles on my dip stick'.
  12. Did you try what was suggested earlier. Running a feed back loop on the heater hoses and bypassing the heater core. Then seeing if it still overheats. Just run the hose from the inlet to outlet pipes on the engine. Heatercore might still be plugged up somewhat.
  13. Can we assume you have changed to a new OEM PCV valve?
  14. With the extremely limited amount of info. My guess is Mass Air Flow sensor.
  15. Get your valves and valve seats done also while you are at it. No need for fancy step grinds; just get them to seat properly again and get the pits out of the faces.
  16. doubtfull; there's a lot of junk already pulling amps through it. don't think the fan will bump it over 15a... or is that fuse 20a ?
  17. Wire it into the ignition switch circut so it only came on when the ignition switch is in the Run position. Pretty sure there's a post about it somewhere. I never botherd to do that and just have it on a maunal switch that I turn on/off myself.
  18. Let there be no mistake that absolutly no kits offerd are a COMPLETE bolt in and drive away kit. Not just the AA kit; all kits. People whine and complain about prices of all the kits I've seen. They would blow a gasket from the price of an all inclusive, bolt on, lift kit.
  19. HAH awsome; Samauri to the rescue! 57 vehicles this year?! What a great turn out. Can't wait for next year!
  20. It's almost too easy Take the ground wire, and ground it to some bare metal or the negative terminal on battery. Then stick the positive wire on the positive terminal on the battery. It will fire right up. I've had to do that lots of times in a pinch or testing. Be sure not to leave it on or you will drain your battery.
  21. Could I buy a copy of all the Rubicon footage for this cause? I'd be willing to pay more than $20 for it. Just let me know how much you would want; if it's possible. You know I'm always up for offroading for a good cause
  22. I wired mine up with a relay and switch in the cabin. The relay went out on me and doubled the amount of wires for such a simple circut. Now I just have it wired directly to the battery and switch. Used a 15a switch and its holding up just fine. I carry a spare switch with me just incase. Only time I need the fan is when the car isnt moving. Even then it takes a while for the temp to creep up. Usually only need it when I'm at stop lights or grid lock traffic.
