  1. Have you checked the tension on the fan belt that runs the alternator?
  2. Well John, I am giving you fair notice that if I have not received communication from you to arrange a repayment schedule within 30 days, I am hiring a collection agency. I have located one in Eugene and will be placing the order unless some advance is made. I believe I have been patient and diplomatic. I am sorry to have to go this route but you leave me no alternatives.
  3. I'll be the naysayer. I believe that if you're not going to trust a car, don't buy it. You'll always have nagging doubts. Would you spend tme with a "shady lady" if you believed she had some disease you didn't want? With that said, I have unshakable faith in all of the subbies in my care. I'd drive my 1983 Brat (it's 23 years old) anywhere without a concern. I should let Snowman drive it to Belize by way of Florida just to prove the point - don't get your hopes up, Kelly. Do the research, and get a warranty in writing if you're concerned.
  4. If you're having problems, either bring it to my house and we'll work on it there, or give me a call and I'll come lend a hand. PM me for my phone #.
  5. I'm not really sure what you're asking. It kind of sounds like you're looking for a suspension lift for a Legacy. If that's the case, check Zap's posts about the mod he did to his rig.
  6. Well John, it's been a full year and not a dime, not one red cent repaid. What's a guy to think?
  7. I proudly have the Kangaroo posted on my back window.

True, but not many can keep up with them regardless of what they have.
  9. This is one-stop shopping at its best.
  10. northguy replied to cd45's topic in Off Road
Not necessarily, but who said it had to move, or move quickly?
  11. Both of you, welcome aboard.

With a sawzall, you can go as big as you want. Or better yet, take all of the fenders off and the sky is the limit.
  13. PK Davis (ozified) makes a great kit. It's very easy to install.
  14. I've been around the block a couple of times in my 83 Brat and 89 xt6. Both good cruisers, but one is definitely faster than the other.
  15. standard gear oil and and additive.
  16. The new Legacies scored in the top 5 for impact safety. Makes me happy to know my wife is well protected.
  17. The first page of the old "How to keep your Volkswagon alive: the complete idiot's manual" says "Make peace with your rump roast for it bears you." I have always kept that in mind, especially when I have troubles with my cars. Understanding the problem is the first step to a solution. You have a good car. Keep it. A cooling system problem can be fitful, but you have some sage advice and it's a relatively inexpensive fix. You'll be happy with it again before long.
  18. If the rust isn't too bad, especially around the strut towers, buy it. That's a fair price.
  19. Take it to Richie Rich (Superior Import Repairs) in Portland. Great mechanic, and a great guy.
  20. Many many kudoes to Snowman who spent 2 days in my garage putting both the Brat and the XT6 back into running order. We (mostly Kelly) pulled the ea81 out of the Brat and resealed it, and swapped out the d/r 5 spd with the one that Torxxx (thanks again, Brad) dropped off here last Spring. Reinstalled the engine and the Brat is "road and off-road ready" once again. The only glitch is clutch adjustment. Has anyone experienced difficulty in getting the clutch adjusted so the throw out bearing isn't constantly engaged? I also found some cv axles for the XT6 (at long last) and Kelly and I put them in last night. It's back on the road. The Ford will be happily reunited with the snowplow this afternoon, and wait patiently for the next dusting. Thanks again, Kelly.
  21. John, I see that you've been on the board again, and still no response. No communication, no e-mail, no phone call, and still no money. You have claimed numerous times to be honest. You have said numerous times that I will get my money back. Words do not pay bills. Your words have paid me nothing but lip service. Step up to the plate and pay your debt.
  22. Have a custom driveshaft made out of the original. Make sure it is balanced. The 2 piece ea82 mod is difficult because there is only very flimsy metal (the bed of the Brat) to hold to, and any twist or torque through the driveshaft will carry onto the weld on the bed - potential for bad juju.
