for my front suspension i'm running outback struts, and impreza hubs and knuckles and brakes, with the XT-6 lower control arm, i wouldn't reccomend it for lifted rigs as tires bigger than 26 inches will rub.
  2. Umm, this should belong in the vendors forum drive by spamming

What am I chopped liver? or do DL's just not count?
  4. don't get me wrong, i'd much prefer the EJ, but stock seems to be more reliable when it comes to me
  5. Hadn't thought of that, now you have me thinking. I would rather keep this stock/reliable though
  6. Because 6 boards arn't enough
  7. I love my 88, its my rock, so i'm no noob to subies, besides i have an 84 hatch and a 96 OBS, but i'm thinking that i want a wicked wedge, and a guy at work has an 86 XT-Turbo for like 100 bucks because he's too lazy to fix a head gasket. Anything that is XT unique that i should look out for? I know the air ride sucks, what struts make it lower? this won't be the offroad beast, i need a street car. It'll probably get the 5 lug swap at the very least, just to confuse people. In other news anybody need a hatch or an OBs? i'll post in marketplace for that stuff.
  8. didn't see the video, i'm at work, but apparantly they are that sensitive, there is a recall on some mid 90's subies to have the front tow hooks cut off cause sometimes when they hit curbs they set the airbags off.
  9. You too, sorry
  10. will do, probably monday, busy all weekend with the show and all.
  11. 2 inch should be plenty big, and its not about the back pressure, its about exhaust flow velocity, you want to keep it between 240 and 260 feet per second for max power.
  12. It sounds like it just needs a tune up, check your plugs and wires, fuel filter and air filter, simple problems usually require a simple answer. After that you're gonna have to spend money, sure a bolt on exhaust will get you a bit, but without cams or an intake to support it its useless, so unless you just want a tune up you're looking at spending a couple grand to make any appreciable power increase. Try a tune up, if that doesn't work i'd try a compression check, and make sure that all your fluids, in the tranny, rear diff and oil are between the lines
  13. the EJ's are bullet proof, the autos some times have problems, but if you have a stick shift you don't have to worry about that, it may be a bit underpowered, but since you're not an 18 year old guy with something to prove that won't be a problem and will give you a bit more fuel econ then the 2.2
  14. TTT, just in case you're not here every day.
  15. make sure its good and cool first, you'll thank me later
  16. I'd put money on the backing plate/dust shield, that always gets me, and i used to do brakes for a living.
  17. I have a crummy video camera, i'll see about setting up a tripod and video taping it.
  18. Actually, i've been pretty bad to the board, since i got a new bike in january i think i've been on like 4 times, and that was coming down from about 5-10 posts a day. Maybe this'll make up for it, probably not though
  19. I've got a couple of harnesses to kick out for a few friend's EJ swaps, and since there not done yet, i figured i'd bring them along and use them as examples of how to do the harness yourself, so if you have a harness, bring it, and we'll sit down and cut it down to size together.
  20. Where in the "wood" are you, i'm in Brier, and could stop by today after work, shoot me a PM
  21. Thats a tasty impreza

The adapter just makes the EJ engine fit the EA tranny. The wiring is all on your own There are a few places on here if you search for a writeup on it, and there are a couple of guys here that will do the wiring for you. Also if you want to do it yourself, get the wiring "how to" from Kenedy engineering, its like 25 bucks but totally worth it, thats how i did my first one.
  23. If you popped the airbags, you're gonna need to replace the forward impact sensors, as those really shouldn't be used after an accident. I don't know subaru SRS but in the fords there is a sensor in the main computer, so i'd replace that one too. Unfortunately everything in the airbag system is pretty much a one time use item. And be sure to check for codes after you have everything hooked up to make sure that its kosher.
  24. I'm waiting on control arms, and i'll have the 88 EJ swapper from last year that pulled out that cute little Yota at WCSS7 And perhaps another secret project if it gets done in time, but thats not for offroading.
  25. I've got an EJ22 swap, i'm working on a second for a friend, have built 2 harnesess for other friends, and am in the process of making another harness, and working on my second personal ej swap, i'd say its worth it.
