'78 brat wheel drum frozen tight.
Yeah howdy! There are no holes in the face of it. The backing plate hides the back of the drum so no puller will fit there. The brat didn't move for 6 or 7 yrs and that wheel sunk into the dirt. One extreme way is to unbolt all the brake mounting nuts and beat the whole assembly off. I had intended to take it to my mechanic but it won't roll. I will look into the old forums, glad you are still around.

'78 brat wheel drum frozen tight.
Hi folks. I am long time gone from the forum but I really am going to try and get the brat rolling. Driver side rear drum is frozen tight. I tried the obvious things but no go. The square drive shoe adjuster is frozen tight. The wheel lugs and axle nut is off, and pb blasted the bolts and axle. I don't do face book but wondered if most people go that way now adays. Also Hi Moosens long time no see.

End of an era for me. But I’ll be back.
Kinda like watching your kids grow up and move out. A little bit lonely, a bit cathartic. When i first got on the forum there was alot of gen one rigs. Now it is pretty sparce. I hope to get my 78 brat going again. It is running though. Good luck paul Peace out

Fuel tank clogged
I just fired up my 78 brat. It hadn't started for 10 years. I drained the tank ( gen ones have a drain bolt), blew the line from the pump back to the tank. I could get it to run on temporary gas supply but the pump wouldn't pick up the gas. So i undid the fuel line to the pump, took a rag to seal the gas tank off and used my compressor with a blow gun to pressurize the tank. Worked great. You should put the fuel line end in a can cause it will blow everywhere.

'78 brat pulled from hibernation
I haven't started the brat for 10 years. It has a low mile import 1600 motor with weber. So i drained the tank with the handy drain plug, also pulled the fuel line at the pump and blew it out. Put 2 gallons in and primed the carb. No go. So i pulled the line out from the pump and used a large syringe stuck into the end of fuel line as a temp gas source, worked great. I can get about a minute run time from that syringe. Pump still wasn't picking up, so i used compressed air and a rag to seal it and pumped the gas tank up. Worked like a charm. It was last registered in 2003 and been a yard ornament in my driveway for 15 years. It clicked over like i ran it yesterday. But it is all coming back to me... oh yeah.. stripped axle, cv grease burning on the exhaust, way loose shifter, shifter boot loose at the tunnel, no heater, forgot the cab was that small...there's more. It is worth it though. It has a 3 in lift,14" on steel wheels, low roll bar, camper shell, tow ball, custom front bumper. I've forgotten most of what i knew about these beasts so will be hitting you all up now and then.

Tool stuck in CV axle roll pin
Find a drift pin the appropriate diameter, and long enough to drive it out. That would work on 80's axles, not sure on yours.

1979 Brat Dual Carb EA81 Swap
Really nice job! I just read through your thread. Hope it lights a fire under me. I have a 78 in the driveway needs to reincarnate. I would like to put the dual range tranny in it. I have the fat case, a good running ea71 and a 2nd gen brat for the tranny. I haven't been on usmb for a long time. Again, thanks for posting all this. Great job.
