  1. Your basic tune-up is like magic on those little engines. Don't forget the distributor cap, plugs and wires while your messing with it. You'll be back up to 70 in no time!:-\ Good luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  2. Seems to me if you already have drilled through your body and bolted it. The only other thing you could do is put a bolt plate inside the car and secure the bolts to the plate. It should stop any movement at that point.

Be nice to that Soobie! I use to "bank bust" back in high school but I found out the hard way too many times, that it was real hard on vehicles. Glenn
  4. I put one on the Hatch just cause it looked cool! I don't think the car is capable of moving fast enough to actually deflect enough air to clean the dust off the rear window though? I didn't put my deflector back on when I built Summer..... Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer--not currently using rear deflector? 84 GL Mad Max--has defector but incapable of generating the speed necessary. 01 Forester--has fin to hide big dent from when the sky fell.
  5. With three Subies you have already passed the "90 day probation period" requirements. Many members fail to aquire the required number of Subies within the time required for full membership. Welcome to the board. Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  6. Pssst...I can think of one more but I can't remember his name?
  7. A fun toy in the city but... I'd be careful with it if you go 4wding, you can easily loose control of your brakes/pedal. My Hill Holder broke/came unadjusted long ago and I prefer it that way. Off-road it can be tricky to deal with. My .02 Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--NO HH! 84 GL Mad Max--Unsure on it's status 01 Forester--Never had one ; )
  8. My kids think it's cool when the Summer is warming up. It will blow smoke rings every few seconds in the cold air. Is this a bad sign? Thanks, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer (Summer) formerly 82 GL Hatch. 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  9. Let me know if I-80 & Salt Lake City fit in your plans? That would be in Utah. Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  10. I think everyone has bent their bar to some degree. I think it's a normal part of using/abusing the vehicle. I reinforced my bar by adding a metal strip along the bottom side making the bar shaped like an upside down "T" if looked at from tire to tire. Pics in my photogallery. Good luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  11. Might try an on-line junkyard for the glass. I have chased many Forester items from ebay to the source then made purchases of the parts I actually needed from the yard--Cheap! Forest Ranger has lifted his Forester http://usmb.net/gallery/albuo97 Welcome to the board Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  12. Three and they all run fine :D:D Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  13. A crawl ratio is somewhat misleading when you apply tires. I have always been of the opinion that a new ratio must be calculated that accounts for tire size. Something like a Creep Ratio. In other words a ratio that matches engine rotation to not only wheel rotation but distance traveled. Just a thought? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer with a lousey crawl ratio compounded by a even worse creep ratio. 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  14. Clean the terminals and put some of that battery terimnal goo on it before you finish messing with it. I'm still betting it's the battery/connectors. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL 01 Forester
  15. I'd still suspect the battery. Cold weather seems to kill them unexpectedly. Have you tried Jump-Starting it? ---Oh ya, Welcome to the board!---
  16. What he said! I have experienced similar problems in similar temps. Check your coolant level.
  17. Even though I cleaned the plugs it wouldn't start...... Over the weekend I finally replaced the plugs... and it fired right up. Thanks Glenn, 82 SubaurHummer--now happy! 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester--dented not sturred!
  18. I refuse to reply until you have a clear topic posted!
  19. The stock tires measure out to about 22.5" by my tape. Why can't we get a 235/13?
  20. There are wiring diagrams out there on the board. The lamp is listed as a "Center Lamp" on the actual switch that turns it on. 1982 was the last year it was offered. The purpose was for an aid to the bright lights or high beams. They have the thing wired to only come on when the high beams are on and only if the center lamp switch is turned on. As soon as you flip off the brights, the center lamp door closes and the light goes off. You can install the cyclops light on any early to mid 80's car by swapping the center section of the grill with an 82. Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer--used to have a center lamp. 84 GL--no center lamp yet...? 01 Forester--hummm....
  21. Welcome to the board. There is probably more information on this board than Subaru has at headquarters. Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  22. Tell him Hi from Sweet82 in SLC. I wish him well and hope every things as good as it can be Find out what's going on with his little ones? Where are they and who is looking after them while he's laid up? Glenn,
  23. Do we know what the problem was? Ya I know what the screen said but what happend?
  24. I get my "pins" at the hardware store:rolleyes: They are sold by the pound....
  25. Remember clear lights facing rearward are illegal in most states... You don't want to make yourself a magnet for attracting law enforcement.
