When it comes to real off-roading, how many vehicles are really what they appear to be anyway? By the time your done with modifications, with an off-roader, who's to say what it is? Modify away, I think it's funny! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

We should probably respect the Donor members more than the charter members. Donors put there money where their keyboard is! Says the person with no DONOR by the name Congrats!! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

Looking for anyone who is potentially headed from or thru Reno Nevada headed East I-80 towards Salt Lake City, Utah. I'm looking for someone who can transport rims from there to here. Happy to help with gas. Thanks, Glenn

This is what came out my exhaust:confused: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=9699&sort=1&cat=500&page=1 I'm not sure if it's something a rodent stashed in my muffler or if its the remains of my nuked emission reed valve? This is from Mad Max, 84 GL. Max had not been started in several months. Max is running poorly/rich since it nuked the emission valve thingy. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=7862&sort=1&cat=500&page=2 This exhaust crap it blew out looks like fiber glass or toasted grass? Did I just cook a family of mice or did I nuke something on the car.

Going where no brat has gone before.. lol

I Rhino'ed Summer and love it! I'd avoid the spray on undercoating, besides being heavy, they seem to take years to dry and if you brush up against it your going to get tar on your clothes even after it's dry. Spray on bedliners don't weigh as much and actually dry. Many-a rock crawler are Rhino'ed, for the same reasons your talking about. round headlights on hatch?
Sweet82 replied to monstaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The round headlights came on the DL models. Here is a link to the brochure section. http://usmb.net/gallery/album72 Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester -
First off, these are not American Machines? Second, I'd make sure it's really your fuel pump and not your fuel pump control unit? If the fuel pump control unit goes out, your fuel pump will not run. If it really is the fuel pump and your having difficulty finding a compatable replacement, why not try a Junk Yard or Auto recycling place? Just a thought? My bet is you'll be fine on your drive. I'd give the car a quick "once over" before you set out, but 400 miles is not that far. My biggest concern would be the tires. Welcome to the board, Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester -
Do a quick search for winches or harbor freight and you'll find some info and experience with these. I have one. Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

Humm.... I wonder how tough getting one would be and then duplicating it? If nobody makes them, would anyone care if it was duplicated... I wish I had a machine shop!

I'll cast one vote "no way in hell" My advice would be three words Weld it ! (I guess it's really two words and an exclamation point) Either way my advice is the same. (or is it Ither way) Whatever? I'm leaving now!

I have way too many cars but... What are you looking to get out of it? You may have buyers here? Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

I had some mysterious heating problems last fall. Seemed to occur mostly on hills or the flat after a hill. I'm now convinced it was a bubble in my cooling system. Improper filling of the cooling system can generate strange temp behavior. Not sure this is your problem but, since you've been messing with the system, I'd make sure your coolant is correctly filled. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

Great pics. I have never seen an engine done out on the street. The closest I've come to that is at a condo carport, where I did a quick swap before anyone had time to complain. I think you'll continue to find this board Rocks! Welcome to it. Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

The longer the better as far as straps go. If your pulling you or someone else out, You may also be pulling them home...? 15' on the freeway is a real short distance! The factory tow points are usless! Don't trust them even in snow. (that's how I pulled my loops out)

Quickly is a relative term...I'd think your looking at 15-20 minutes best case. Quick disconnect pins also go by the name of nails. If your going to weld your diff, you should reinforce your diff hanger at the same time. Both 3 wheeling and 4 wheeling will be hard on an unreinforced diff hanger. Three wheeling will cause you to drift towards the missing axle side during climbs. Four wheeling with a welded diff can give you unexpected results on snowy streets. Practical is also a relative term?...I'd say it would depend on how much you enjoy doing axle swaps. If you do remove an axle, I'd tell you to mark them with nail polish or junkyard marker so when you reinstall you'll know exactly where your splines need to be. They can look correct but still be in the wrong position. If you remember to take your corners gradually and don't mind your tires "barking" you can drive with a fully welded diff. Probably not the best thing for the car. The three wheel option is probably the better way to go... My .02 Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--Welded! 84 GL Mad Max--not welded. 01 Forester--Limited.

Anyone w/a passing light......
Sweet82 replied to Baysurfin's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
1982's had them, at least the GL's did. My 82 GL Hatch came with the cyclopse light. I think 83 was when they took them out not 82. -
Front diff interchangeability: The true answer

With a welded diff on an EA series....Would you really notice the added benefit? -
I like it...gives it sort of an industrial look. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=6003&sort=1&cat=500&page=3 Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
