I'll be easy to recognize, I'll be the one receiving a citation from local law enforcement representatives... Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

So...What's the scoop with the Army stuff? Is this yours?
  3. Rims got sold:-\ Got to start all over again... Thanks, Glenn
  4. First and formost, Welcome to the board! My recommendation would be to start with another Subie! Kinda joking and kinda not. A Subie will never be a perfect starting platform for a hard core rig. The older Subies adapt to light-medium duty 4wding way better than the newer ones. The main reason why is because the older Subs have a Dual Range tranny. The D/R tranny, while not perfect, is the key to getting a Subie around in the hills. Putting bigger tires on will give you a bit more clearance which is good but don't try climbing any hills! If I had a 92 Legacy, I'd put 14" Pugs and a slightly over sized tire and call it good. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  5. EA81 4sp DR tranny mounts? http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=10707&cat=500 Is this what a healthy tranny mount is suppose to look like? I'm wondering if there is suppose to be rubber on the top side of this? Thanks, Glenn
  6. Looking for transportation for some rims from Washington to SLC, UT area. Anyone headed this way? Happy to help with the ever increasing cost of gas....:-\ (but that's another thread) Thanks, Glenn
  7. I'm using a HF $39 (sale) #2000 winch. I have a snatch block to double my effective pulling power to #4000. It's cheap, small and effective. I don't intend on lifting my car, just encouraging it to move in a direction it didn't want to go... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=32&cat=500&ppuser=584 Having said all that, a Quality come-a-long is a great low weight, low cost solution to moving your car in a given direction...(Note: I have folded up several cheap #2000, come-a-longs trying to pull things)
  8. Have you tried switching that little red "P" switch off? It's usually on the steering column?
  9. No activity since 6/21/04? Sweetart...MSN and sweetart...@hotmail Yahoo! newlondonhottie . Some how with names like this, I'm thinking this person was really into things other than Subarus?

It's a good thing you were able to pull that Jeep down the hill safely in pic#25. Subaru helps out again!

I did, driving with no doors is cool. You'll loose anything that's on the floor?
  12. Didn't I put Serious Inquires Only? I was looking at this again yesterday and I was amazed it was still here? anyway, Bump! Any takers Emmissions has never been a problem, Never had A/C till lately, Window definately rolls down, I think you could safely say "I'm willing to part it out", Test driving it would tell all, there is a hood (not pictured) that you could lift up and look under, I have all the bumper parts and lights. I had envisioned using it in parades with legs rather than wheels. Then the rest of the time I thought it would look nice on the Deck against the house, just to make the neighbors wonder why or is that real? Still up for grabs!
  13. There is a good chance that if the Subaru's didn't have the dual range transmissions of the 80's we wouldn't be talking here in the first place. I think the reason people like the cars is the fact that they can go where other cars can't. The Dual Range tranny allowed Subarus to go places where all-wheel drive cars of the same generation have now faded into obscurity. My favorite feature was the D/R tranny, followed closely by the cyclopse light. Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  14. I never noticed that? I was thinking it just went into the front of the tranny. Now I unner-stan! I just may do that as I don't have the same linkage restrictions you folks have.
  15. That's how I remember it, which brings up the question in my mind... How does one make two levers do independent things off one linkage rod? By pushing the linkage one step forward, doesn't it click the tranny into 4wd and high range? One more step forward 4wd and low range? I don't understand how you would split this out.
  16. Does anyone have a tranny pic? I only remember one rod going into the tranny from the 4wd selector lever?
  17. Bump! No takers I find that hard to believe...
  18. It's been my experience that the people here are decent and knowledgable folks. I think the Jerks hang out on other boards.
  19. Tell us about your Subaru'z Are you old school, Historic, New Generation... Welcome to the board. Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  20. This is a seriously funny thread:lol: I don't usually laugh at at posts but this one has me rolling on the floor!!! (and I have no leg to stand on, I'm just still trying to think of which one of my automotive mishaps is the worst? soo many to choose from...) Ok here is one of my favorites... In High School my water pump started leaking through this round hole in the bottom of the water pump? It was slowly getting worse... Being resourceful and cheap, I got some JB Weld and solved the leaking hole problem! Needless to say the pump seized-up shortly thereafter and caused all kinds of problems. So I go to the Junkyard and pickup another never knowing the real purpose of the hole in the bottom of the water pump. My "new" lasted less than a year and starts leaking...so what do I do...? Boy that JB Weld is good stuff! Shortly there after the "new" water pump starts making noise and leaking everywhere. I finally ended up getting a water pump from a parts store, never knowing till years later what that little hole is for... Glenn, Automotive Idiot!
  21. As usual Ferret nailed it! Even though the fuses under the dash were as the should have been, there is a second set of fuses under the hood for the clock / stereo and other vital organs. So if you blow the clock radio fuse be sure and check both fuse banks. I hoped to make enough key words that someone else could do a search and find the answer to this in the future. I had a helper in the car to assist in the in-flight inspection & repair effort. No safety violations occured while I was driving. Glenn, 2001 Forester
  22. Yup! you heard it correct! One highly modified 1982 Subaru is there for the taking! ...and I mean highly modified... I was going to do more with it but time is against me. I'd like to see it go to a new home where it could be proudly displayed and appreciated. Maybe even make an occasional parade appearance? You could be a 1/4 owner of this classic vehicle and still own it outright? It takes up very little garage space and would look good nestled against the wall in the Shop or Garage? I have virtually all (or at least 1/4) the parts that are needed to finish the project. This would be great advertising for a Subaru Repair Shop? http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=584 Vehicle is free but you must "pick up". 23. This weekend I was hooking up the trailer to the Forester to go out riding and as soon as I get out on the road, I find I have no clock and worst of all, I have no Stereo power? I checked under the dash, thinking I blew a fuse, nope! Switched fuses around, just in case I had a bad fuse, still no power. I unpluged the trailer lights, even though they say they are on a different fuse, still no power. I was in a Jam, NO TUNES! ...and I had done everything I could do while driving, my only other option was to pull over and I didn't want to do that! So... anyone want to take a stab at how to fix this one? I finally figured it out the next day but I thought posting this may help someone else save some time. Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer--clock but no stereo 84 GL Mad Max--clock but no stereo 01 Forester--now with working clock and stereo
  24. I guess I don't get it? The factory setup works fine and it's not in the way?
  25. Your car looks like it has a split personality. One side likes to be clean and proper:) and the other...
