2 cylinder Suby
Tony, You can find out a bunch of info on the 360's in the "Historic" Subaru Forum. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=32 Do a search and see if you can dig up some info. The reality is if you have a newer Suzuki, I'd think you could find a newer Suzuki replacement motor easier. The Subaru 360 motors have not been produced since 1971 and parts are not easily available, at least in the US. I'd think a used Suzuki motor would be newer and a direct fit replacement. My .02 Glenn

Brat tranny swap
I was not sure so I browsed the brochure section. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/Literature/brochures/brochures-80-89.html It showed only 4sp up until 1987. I'd bet they never came with a 5sp?

Fuel Pump: Best place?
Have you taken a good look at your Fuel Pump Control Unit? That is what sends the power to the pump. A quick and easy fix relative to wiring up and mounting a new fuel pump? It should be the black or blue box hooked up to your hood release lever on the firewall. I'd check the wires headed out of that box and see if it quit sending a signal to the pump? $3-5 at your local Junkyard.

Suggestions on hatch (Now in my garage!!!!!)
I always had to jack my Hatch on a suspension part (A arm or rear trailing arm). Everywhere else was just too rusty. Last thing you what to do is put the jack through the metal into the car. Don't jack it on the recomemded jacking points on the rocker panels. They just won't hold up anymore. I think this will be easier than your thinking...

Paint scheme for brat?
I second the truck bedliner idea.

R200 Nissan rear. I think this is the way for me
Way cheaper too! You may have to pull an axle if you wanna "unweld" it for the city.

Brat tranny swap
I believe all the 4sp trannys would have had a one piece drive line. The 5sp trannys have a two piece drive line.

Suggestions on hatch (Now in my garage!!!!!)
How about using a come-a-long and slowly pulling it up on the trailer? or you could bring a fresh battery and just drive it on the Starter Motor! Filling up any tires that will hold air would be a plus! Don't forget to check the spare? That may help. Do you have a set of wheels you could borrow?

EA81 engine year?
Your right, the leading 0 needs to be in a different spot to make it fit well. 340k would fit 34k would not. It could be this engine is not an original? It's history is not known. If my math is right this motor would have been produced in June of 1982?

BRAT in AZ $150 with many original Accessories ATTN: GET THIS FAST!
Looks like a score to me!

Rear recovery point?
You could even bolt this plate on? An interior and exterior plate would work? The real problem will be avoiding body damage when you attach a cable or strap to the recovery point?

Lincoln locker
I've been running with the axle IN since last summer, and I have not noticed much binding at all. All I notice is I leave a lot of rubber on the concrete where ever I drive. (However my tires are much different than yours and I weigh less too...) I think you could "do" an axle in 15 minutes including putting the tools away? It will make a world of difference in your Subies ability to climb!

maybe a new project?
I found my rust under the basic floor mat area? Look under the car and see if you see metal........or carpet? ....I found carpet... The frame rails are strong on those cars. The rust in those pictures won't effect the structural integrity of the chassis.
