My Loyale is getting on my nerves!!!
Sweet82 replied to Bucky92's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Try a little battery terminal grease and call me in the morning. Secure the terminal on tight and you'll be good to go another 100k or so.... -
No, this is not some Hollywood fashion thread, I got a second (tamer) set of shoes for Summer. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=11732&limit=recent Gives the Buggy a whole different look. I still have the Real Aggressive ones for Ugly Stuff but, I wanted something I could take on paved roads and not erase. I also wanted something I could take over 20 mph safely. (with the ATV tires 25 mph will knock your fillings out.) These will also allow me to keep what's left of my gearing for climbing... What do you think? I've been looking at aggressive 14" tires with a height of around 25-26". The idea is to find a tire that I can run on an unlifted Subie or the Buggy. There is not a lot out there in a 14" size in that range. The problem is no one is manufacturing the small trucks that require them anymore. What I'm finding is the only real sizes available are, 205/75/14 , good aggressive tires in this size but they are relatively TALL for our gears! These will be in the 26" to 27" range. 205/70/14, snow tires are about the only thing available in this size as this is a car tire size. These will measure out in the 25.5 range. The tread depth is not real deep on this size of tire. 195/75/14 , small truck size and a little more selection in aggressive tires. These will also measure out in the 25.5 range and the tread depth is greater. The width is narrower than a 205/70. The only thing I found that I like is the WildCat A/S at Les Schwab for $61 in a 195/75/14. http://www.lesschwab.com/tires/light_truck/wildcat_as.asp Anyone else looked into this? Sand Rail - time to go from VW to Subaru
Sweet82 replied to second skin rep's topic in Subaru Transplants
Welcome to the board. I think you'll enjoy either motor. The only problems I see is the addition of a radiator to your Rail. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester -

Mad Max's old alternator did the same wild swings as your "new" one did. I replaced the alternator and everything was happy again too. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester -
Welcome to the board! I'd bet you can't buy a 13" tire that doesn't fit. You have to get a fairly large tire under there to start having clearance problems. I don't think any 13's are that big. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

Is It Safe....

I put a Cherry Bomb glass pack on my Trooper a couple weeks ago. It took less than 15 minutes! I can touch the pack when the vehicle is hot! The pipe will fry my hand. Why not spend the $20 and put on a new, proper sized glass pack rather than a burn out used one? You can't buy a tank of gas for $20. Guess its too late now? -
***Link to ramp test pic*** http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=11586&cat=500&ppuser=584 We don't have much suspension travel:-\ I think my shortened wheel base (80") is the reason for my score, I also think the coil over shocks are hurting me. I'm going to try unbolting the additional coil shocks and lower the PSI in the tires and see what the numbers are?

Just a flesh wound I'm not sure I'd fix it, I'd just keep on driving it! Maybe jump on the hood so you can see better:grin: -
I was able to get 548 with "Summer". I did get a 585 a while back but not last night. I'll have to mess with it a bit and see just how far I can push it (with out rolling in my driveway) Took some picks, I'll have to post them in a bit... Congrats on the emissions! What car are we talking about? -
I installed the factory security system in my 01 Forester and it was "Plug and Play". First I had to install the "factory installed" keyless entry module for the locks. Didn't take 10 minutes and there were no settings that needed to be addressed? I reused the nuts/bolts that were already there. I believe it bolted to an existing mount for something (Forester). The only other things I had to do was program my remotes. I found the instructions really good and easy to follow. The only settings I can think of would be the sensitivity settings if it turns out to be too sensative once it's installed?

With my 1982, I was turning 3000 at 55mph:burnout: but I think the 82's were geared lower than most. -
The pics are cool. They sure make a sad statement about our vehicles ability to articulate:-\

Wind Noise
Sweet82 replied to excal's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
I didn't have a wind noise problem until my car went to the body shop (for a crumpled door). It has been back, to the body shop, 5 times to try and get it right. Wind noise was just one of the problems and it's still not fixed! GURRR! -
Won't fiberglass move and flex enough to work when "under the changing pressures and deforming of the body under cornering"? I'd think fiberglass is the answer. If your roof moves more than fiberglass will handle, I'd think the roof would be / is unsafe?

We need to post some Subie Scores and find out where everyone is? Would it make a difference front vs. rear?
