Sand Rail - time to go from VW to Subaru
Welcome to the board. I think you'll enjoy either motor. The only problems I see is the addition of a radiator to your Rail. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

INDASH VOLTAGE guage GOING WHACKO
Mad Max's old alternator did the same wild swings as your "new" one did. I replaced the alternator and everything was happy again too. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

13" Tires
Welcome to the board! I'd bet you can't buy a 13" tire that doesn't fit. You have to get a fairly large tire under there to start having clearance problems. I don't think any 13's are that big. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

Is It Safe....
I put a Cherry Bomb glass pack on my Trooper a couple weeks ago. It took less than 15 minutes! I can touch the pack when the vehicle is hot! The pipe will fry my hand. Why not spend the $20 and put on a new, proper sized glass pack rather than a burn out used one? You can't buy a tank of gas for $20. Guess its too late now?

rti calculator..FIXED...
***Link to ramp test pic*** http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=11586&cat=500&ppuser=584 We don't have much suspension travel:-\ I think my shortened wheel base (80") is the reason for my score, I also think the coil over shocks are hurting me. I'm going to try unbolting the additional coil shocks and lower the PSI in the tires and see what the numbers are?

RX crash carnage revealed

I was able to get 548 with "Summer". I did get a 585 a while back but not last night. I'll have to mess with it a bit and see just how far I can push it (with out rolling in my driveway) Took some picks, I'll have to post them in a bit... Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer--Summer with a 548 84 GL Mad Max--Untested 01 Forester--Has trouble going over tall bumps.

installing motion detector in alarm system
Sweet82 replied to whiteoutback's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI installed the factory security system in my 01 Forester and it was "Plug and Play". First I had to install the "factory installed" keyless entry module for the locks. Didn't take 10 minutes and there were no settings that needed to be addressed? I reused the nuts/bolts that were already there. I believe it bolted to an existing mount for something (Forester). The only other things I had to do was program my remotes. I found the instructions really good and easy to follow. The only settings I can think of would be the sensitivity settings if it turns out to be too sensative once it's installed?

Need to know speed at certain RPM
With my 1982, I was turning 3000 at 55mph:burnout: but I think the 82's were geared lower than most.

TAHUYA! pics and video of a perfect day to wheel!

Wind Noise
Sweet82 replied to excal's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI didn't have a wind noise problem until my car went to the body shop (for a crumpled door). It has been back, to the body shop, 5 times to try and get it right. Wind noise was just one of the problems and it's still not fixed! GURRR!

First time owner 2002 outback, headlight problem
Sweet82 replied to terribletom's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXHaving all the same problems....and patiently waiting for someone to solve this mystery...... Could a pin/blade on the headlight be bent a bit for a better connection?

moonroof horrors
Won't fiberglass move and flex enough to work when "under the changing pressures and deforming of the body under cornering"? I'd think fiberglass is the answer. If your roof moves more than fiberglass will handle, I'd think the roof would be / is unsafe?

We need to post some Subie Scores and find out where everyone is? Would it make a difference front vs. rear?

$70 ticket for passenger in BRAT jump seats
As long as the vehicle met the US DOT requirements when it was imported your good. If the seats were added to the later Brats after it was imported, that would be a potential problem. But this Brat is a 1981, it should be good no matter what.

Meet Bluey
That car is in such good shape!!! That is so cool to see such a great condition Subie. Great Pics, I like the last picture the best. Looks as though it should be in a Subaru brochure.

Subaru engined Trike.
It's fairly obvious that whoever made that, wanted the Subaru left on! It would have been so easy to get rid of it and yet it is painted and highlighed! Someone wanted to make a Subie Statement! I think they did a good job!
