  1. You'll never find anyone who can make them for a reasonable price... I've tried forever. I had custom rims made for less than adapters.
  2. Some of the external components will differ in shape and placement. The Air Suction Valve has moved and changed shape since 1982. This may cause you to have to re-route some of it's hoses from the left to the right. Whatever carb you use, you'll need to get that computer and associated parts out of the donor car. The 1982 Carter Weber carb will have a fuel pump control unit that you'll need to keep with the carb.
  3. Has anyone actually called Marsh Custom Wheels and asked what a custom 4X140 wheel would cost? It looks as though these guys would be capable of building such a creature? Ordering a few sets makes quite a few rims for a custom production run.
  4. Have you checked to make sure you have any oil?
  5. Having cut a car in half vertically and horizontally, I can tell you... It shouldn't take much time. I cut the front off my car to remove the engine & tranny. A grinder will do it much faster than a Sawzall. There will probably be some points that a Grinder won't get to though. There can't be much cost in making a trailer out of that car? so...why not give it a shot?
  6. Try applying more heat to the outside of the bend, rather than the inside? Stretch the plastic rather than shrink it? I'm making this up as I type.... But it seems logical!

Justys started in 1987... so which is it? an 87 Justy or an 84 Hatch? My bet is you have a Hatch. This would be a easier starting point, if that's the case?
  8. You may be able to find a whole new "black" bumper at a Junkyard for not much money and quit trying to restore the grey one? Short of that, it would be Armor all for me. Painting would be my last resort.
  9. I'm stupid, I'll ask... What a NOX filter?
  10. I don't know much about your year but... I assume you have a rear fuel filter near the pump and one up front on the firewall? When it kills is the front fuel filter empty? Are your fuel filters dirty--in need of replacement? Will it stay running (longer than 6 seconds) with Starting Fluid? It sounds gas related to me...
  11. I'd be a little careful about driving it.... When Mad Max's alternator went away, it was putting out 18+ volts:eek: Get it tested! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  12. I was kinda waitin for someone to get hurt... They all should have been hurt doin something stupid like that!
  13. What were they smoking? Never mind, silly question! I bet they had the munchies while they were making that:lol:
  14. That's just plain Sweet! They don't make-um like that anymore. I wouldn't paint it or re-upholster it. I'd buff the original paint and use seat covers. I'd keep it as original as possible, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  15. I recognize that dealership... Is that Nate Wade Subaru in SLC? They always have cool cars there. A couple years ago they had a Gen 2 sedan on display. Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  16. I'm not a big Gen 1 fan but that's a sweet ride! It truely looks like we're back in 1978 (again :-\) Fantastic job on the restoration!
  17. That might be the "Mavrick Monster" I have been hearing about on the radio? Great shot!
  18. 630 watts proudly shining forward! 175 watts proudly shining backwards! http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=31&cat=500&ppuser=584 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=11586&cat=500&ppuser=584 I don't run all of these at one time out of respect for my poor alternator.
  19. What were you expecting? It's a primer paint job! That's just the look I wanted when I found this baby already painted!!! http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=7454&cat=500&ppuser=584 Boy was I lucky! I probably saved $8 in spray paint:grin: I prefer the black radar absorbing primer Leave it alone and drive it proudly!!!
  20. Where can I find the proper valve clearance adjustment setting for an EA81 solid lifter engine? I've searched, checked USRM, and I'm not finding any specifics on what my valves should be set to? Anyone have a manual? Thanks, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--needs valves checked 84 GL Mad Max--probably next on the list... 01 Forester--60k tune up should cover it.
  21. Try a little battery terminal grease and call me in the morning. Secure the terminal on tight and you'll be good to go another 100k or so....

No, this is not some Hollywood fashion thread, I got a second (tamer) set of shoes for Summer. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=11732&limit=recent Gives the Buggy a whole different look. I still have the Real Aggressive ones for Ugly Stuff but, I wanted something I could take on paved roads and not erase. I also wanted something I could take over 20 mph safely. (with the ATV tires 25 mph will knock your fillings out.) These will also allow me to keep what's left of my gearing for climbing... What do you think? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--Now with a choice of tires 84 GL Mad Max--Has his eyes on a certain set of tires... 01 Forester--Factory tires Oh ya, Thanks Edrach!....Pugs look great...
  23. I've been looking at aggressive 14" tires with a height of around 25-26". The idea is to find a tire that I can run on an unlifted Subie or the Buggy. There is not a lot out there in a 14" size in that range. The problem is no one is manufacturing the small trucks that require them anymore. What I'm finding is the only real sizes available are, 205/75/14 , good aggressive tires in this size but they are relatively TALL for our gears! These will be in the 26" to 27" range. 205/70/14, snow tires are about the only thing available in this size as this is a car tire size. These will measure out in the 25.5 range. The tread depth is not real deep on this size of tire. 195/75/14 , small truck size and a little more selection in aggressive tires. These will also measure out in the 25.5 range and the tread depth is greater. The width is narrower than a 205/70. The only thing I found that I like is the WildCat A/S at Les Schwab for $61 in a 195/75/14. http://www.lesschwab.com/tires/light_truck/wildcat_as.asp Anyone else looked into this?
