Great video, that little thing goes!

Have you checked your fuel pump control unit? I assume 87's had them. My FPCU went out and it was giving me fits trying to fix a fuel pump that wasn't broke. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--new FPCU 84 GL 01 Forester

Cast one more vote for pulling the battery cables and giving um a good cleaning.

So...2.75 miles per. That's some kind of record. Any "fuel dumps" involved with that kind of mileage?
-
Really? Getto huh? I don't see where your coming from on that one? How can you call that getto?

Hats off to Scott, It's innovation and trial and error that has brought these old Subarus to the point where they are now. I commend you on your sawzall abilities! Start the project! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL 01 Forester

I've done that on Summer. Works well compared to nothing. Who knows how it would compare to a front locker? Until someone welds one or invents one we may never know... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=6003&sort=1&cat=500&page=1 I have a couple pics on it. Humm... That would make two in Utah... I'd think about lifting it first. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

Those pics are great. They sure make some good lookin 4X4's Makes my Subie feel kinda punnie.

Has anyone done this in a Subaru before? Wondering if Subaru use is theoretical or proven?

Isn't that the one C.W. McCall sang about.... Should be just outside Telluride Colorado. I think you can see it from main street in Telluride. Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

axle change - my story
Sweet82 replied to wesley willis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
When I bought the Road Warrier I found a roll pin missing up front. Aparently it had been driven for sometime? without a pin in place? I haven't tracked down a 3/16" roll pin yet but I'm thinking on using a good solid nail like other board members are using... I'd think any pin is better than no pin? My .02 Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max--waiting nail or roll pin 01 Forester -
I'd like to hear more on this real limited slip method too... I welded my gears into a big glob and just do the axle install/removal method. Looking for more first hand experience with this method Tell us more... Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--welded 84 GL Mad Max--the road warrier--unwelded 01 Forester--limited slip

None of the older Subarus were known for their power. Newer Subies are a different story. The old ones reputation was built on dependability. Enjoy your new Subaru... Welcome to the board. Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

Did you know? Many old Subies don't need the oil changed It's a fact! Old Subies have a tendency to leak oil at a rate the allows you to always add clean oil and never have it in the car long enough to get dirty Keep an eye on the dipstick!!! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

None of my old Subies had power windows :-\ However, I agree with Bobby, I'd look for power. You may have some corroded connectors along the line somewhere? If you can trace the power you'll find the problem. Welcome to the board, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

I carry a Cheap compressor and hand tools in all my cars Nothing fancy for me! Seems like potentially a lot of money, weight and storage space for a convience. My .02 Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester

Turn corner..oil light flickers...
Sweet82 replied to Indrid cold's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
When I purchased Mad Max (84 GL) it was only 2 quarts low No oil light no leaks :-\ My old Toyota would get down 3 quarts before the light would begin to flicker on corners... I think maybe there's something to be learned here... CHECK YOUR OIL! -

I guarantee $200 would get it out of Jail. What's it worth to you$$$ I know if I offered the guy cash and had a trailer with me it would leave with me. I don't do older Subies. But I'd be happy to help someone who wants it. Oh ya.... At this time I think it would be appropriate to say... I have no storage space! -

I'd bet it's a title issue of some sort. They probably can't sell it because they don't have a title or a permit to sell vehicles...just parts? I'd bet for the right amount of money the car could be bailed out -

What yard is it? Do they have any other Subaru'z there? Up here they squished 4 at my favorite yard...down to 3 now They are getting hard to find... Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester -
If "Summer" sits for more than a few days, I get a blackish smoke out the tail pipe until it has idled for a while. Smells rich. If I rev it up I can get a fair amount of "dust" in the air. It all goes away when it's warmed up a bit. For what that's worth? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--Summer 84 GL--Mad Max 01 Forester--un-named...
