  1. If you have a garage and a basic supply of tools you should be Ok. You'd be supprised just how few bolts there are... I'd do the back first because there's less involved and then you can get a feel for what's involved before moving forward. Where in Utah County are you? Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  2. Thanks for the rusty photo Now I feel better Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  3. I used to paint my wheels once or twice a year to keep them looking nice. First step was to sand any rust and rough up existing paint. Second was to treat rust areas with phosphoric acid. Third was a spot prime or sometimes just paint. Forth step paint. I used Kmart $1 a can gloss white. Get use to it... 4. I think you moved into Subaru Central. There's more older Subaru's up near you than anywhere else. All our old ones have rusted away...... Welcome to the board, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  5. The one I just replaced out of Mad Max was putting out 20-21 volts. Your asking to fry something with that many volts. The junkyard one I replaced it with puts out 14 volts. REPLACE your alternator! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  6. What tires are you running on that anyway?
  7. Anyone got an owners book handy... My 82 Hatch would only work the center lamp with LOW beams on. I always wanted the center lamp to work with the high beams
  8. The bottom set could be redrilled to a 140? However I think you'd have a hard time getting it right. Just a thought...
  9. A little elbow grease and some paint should keep air in them! Price is the bottom line.
  10. Clearance is good but.... How hard is it to turn those tires off-road?
  11. And I was thinking "Duct tape" Are the old ones a similar fix? (1984) Glenn 82 SubaruHummer-aluminum roof 84 GL-leaky sun roof 01 Forester-no sun roof
  12. Looks like a blast! Those rear tires are great. Did you run a different size in the front than the rear???
  13. What about using your Subaru suspension with some modifications?
  14. Mark, Good to hear from you... I think that's an Ebay ask seller a question issue. The pics are not clear enough to really see much of the motor. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL 01 Forester
  15. Been there done that! Don't feel bad...It's a common problem.
  16. I like it... The doors are exactly what I would have done. I prefer a cut door to a tube door. Glueing the front and back together is going to be tough. Do you have an over all length or wheel base your shooting for? Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL 01 Forester
  17. Welcome to the board, I'd bet you'll like your new Soob! Sounds like a great Montana-mobile. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL 01 Forester
  18. When you start your car, where it your foot? My foot is usually on the brake pedal. If Don cut my brake lines I'd probably notice it when my foot went clear to the floor? At that point I'd be pumping the brakes wondering why they don't feel solid? Instantly I'd remember that Don was following me around the day before... and I'd figure it out before I was speeding towards a real tall cliff. I doubt I'd leave the driveway w/o figuring it out...Sorry Don got to do better!
  19. Here's a pic of my bar. I added a strap of 1 1/4 steel along the bottom to form a inverted "T" shape. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=2383&sort=1&cat=500&page=2 Good Luck Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL 01 Forester
  20. Mudrat, Your welcome to use mine anytime... However, we'd have to either move the car to SLC or... the garage to PHX. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  21. Someone's got to know this... Try reposting the same basic question in the old school section? Oh, ya Welcome to the board Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
  22. It's just a flesh wound, she'll be running fine in no time...
  23. Someone a while ago suggested using the pin wrench that you use to change the cutting disks on your angle grinder? I tried it and it works. Now if you don't have an angle grinder... Be patient, turn slow Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--used pin wrenches, channel locks, screwdrivers to turn the brake pistons. 84 GL Mad Max 01 Forester
