Once it is calibrated i find it dead on unless you are using non factory size tires. nipper -

Blu has cancer
nipper replied to nipper's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
UpdateL Took off the stripe today (and broke a freaking trim peice in the porcess). Blu has super minimal cancer under the strips. So little that mabe a tablespoon of body puter and treatment will fix it. in this case the bubbling made it look far wors then it actually is. Now i need that dumb trim peice. nipper -
You may have just answered the question. A weak altenator will throw off everything. you may not be actually be seeing the real temp, but a higher temp due to a lower voltage output (meaning not a thing wrong with the cooling system). What is the alt output at idle with everything off, fans on, and at 1800 RPM with everything on? nipper
-
What heat range plugs are you running? Are all the emissions controls functioning? What is the output of the altenator? Put a meat themrometer in the radiator coolant after the T-stat has opened and let us know the temp of the coolant. Are the fans running at the proper speed? What happens when you tun the AC on?
-
Key to avoiding air is simple (ramps arent needed but it helps). Always have the car running when you add coolant. Pour in the coolant SLOWLY. STop when full, wait for the thermostat to open, then SLOWLY add more. Put the cap back on, close the bleeder, drive around the block, let car cool off. Repeat if needed. And always watch the temp gauge when doing this. People get air in the system cause they rush this part (any car can get air, some more prone then others). nipper

We had one use it in another board. It lasted a month. headgaskets are the most complicated gasket in the car with the hardest job. On one side is 15,000-20,000 psi, on the other side is 10-80 psi oil, 14psi coolant, and 28in hg. Throw in temps of zero degrees or lower, water temp of 200 degrees, and 4-5000 degrees F, it is not something that a jar can fix. Also since he has to take his car apart now, i am curious to see if it is even fixable since this stuff is an epoxy resin. Fix the car the right way. nipper

No PR is bad PR as long as they spell your name right. Damn Typo. i got Blus name wrong. i'm glad he doesnt have an internet connection

They REALLY are not petable. i went through there one year by motorcycle and got chased by a Bull (Buffalo). They can MOVE! Aparently he didnt like the sound the starter made. Yes they are not the cuddly type. We came upon a heard on the road (literally) in a fog bank in one of the back roads in the park. Blu had to tip toe around them as they napped, even he understood just one could do serious damage to him. nipper

I had four apples in the car to hand feed them. They really are gentle creatures, known as "moochers". They have to look inside the car to make sure there is no food. That is all he (she?) wanted to do. He held his ground untill i moved the car. I did feed the others. He (i have video) also found Blu tasty, as he kept licking Blu. I'm thinking it was from the road salt. Yes she did say something like that. I also have video of us in a heard (literally) of Buffalo. For obvious reasons I did not get out of the car for pics of that, as they were huge and had babies. nipper

That other antenna is something in the background. Blu only has the pwr antenna and a CB. nipper

Maybe we need a trip report subset? Blu makes new friends, Custer State Park, Black Hills, South Dakota Mom in a "Don't you DARE open this window" moment Full Set Why i love a subaru? I would NEVER take any other with 255,000 miles plus on it, with my 80 year old mother, on a 3895 nine day trip to see her great grandchildren in any other car with that miles. nipper

there are many cars that will have the fans run after it shuts off. If this is all it takes to set you off i suggest you examine your life So why wont you check to see if the radiator is in good condition? Personally i think there is nothig wrong with this car. The enngine temp sensor reads at the engine, not at the radiators. If you want try running the car without the t-stat as a test, but i really dont see anything wrong here myslef. nipper
