Get the codes read first. your computer connector is the lower left hand side of the dash under a little cover. This sounds like it may be a simple sensor dying, like a crank position sensor. Do not remove the battery cable or anything before you get the codes read. How many miles on this car? When was the last time the timing belt was changed? Sometimes water vapor is just water vapor. nipper

Do you have a CEL on? I can't remeber the last time someone had to replace a complete exhaust system. this is somethig you can do yourself. The pipes can almost last the life of the car, so shop around. Keep away from midas etc. Get yourself a price for OE pipes, IF they are really needed, or walker pipes. Dont use a tube bending shop as those pipes are cheap metal. If you want to keep the car for any length of time, by the proper pipes, but first, answer the first four questions. nipper

Check the engine RPM, the oil level (change it if it hasnt been changed in a while), Alt output before you start chainging parts. Next get a cheap mechainical oil pressure gauge for testing purposes. Make sure it can clearly read the lower range. After that we can start looking at more hideous things. How is the gas mileage?

The only issue has been the car being a bit of a dog off the line till about 10-15 mph then it takes off. Blu is the same way so i dont see that as a big deal. nipper

On the outback boars alot of people are surprised by how good the CVT is and how it gets better mileage then the EPA ratings. I test drove the CVT and liked it alot. There was one person who drove the 6sp and didnt like the gate (most likely had to get used to it). nipper

I would be surprised if this is a HG, as running hot is usually an aftermarket T stat issue or a tired radiator cap. Lets cross our fingers.

Well I am still going to try to fix my seat heaters, but with moms health crisses, my timing is way off. I dont have a garage And blu needs: Fix cancer Road trip (take mom to see her great grandchildren in South Dakota. Mom is 80 and never has seen her Great grandkids) Finish wiring the sports lights Seat heaters. I dont dare do anything to take blu apart untill Mom sees the Dr on the 8th, to make sure is all OK. you should have been able to disconnect all the connectors and yank the gauge cluster There is one small connector in the back for the spedo which you can reach without seeing it, the others are fairly obvious. nipper

Option C - they never noticed the torque bind. Well it is an 800.00-900.00 repair or there abouts to rebuild the AWD unit. You may also need a transmission mount (dont be surprised it is possible and reasonable given the cars age) I am assuimng you dont have an owners manual for the car. Look at www.cars101.com to get familiar with the maint for the car. I dont know where the FWD light is on an imp , but its there. nipper

Take a flashlight to the dash, up close. You should see a FWD indicator at the base of one of the gauges, where the other idiot lights are. You have it. Does your tranny oil light flash on startup? the fuse just completes a low power circuit to tell the Duty C solenoid to stay open and deactivate the RWD. I have a feeling someone did this trick long ago, and now the clutch pack itself has fused together. This solenoid is not meant to stay energized everytime you run the car. It can last this way a month or ten years, its just the luck of the draw. This is why the bulb is most likely missing. I dont like the tires not matching, but somone had the smarts to replace two tires and split them up one per axle to keep the revolutions per mile the same (as you saw). Tires can vary even within the same batch. I have a feeling someone had a flat and replaced two tires. The only thing worse then a high mileage car is a low mileage one. Cars are made to be driven, and they dont like sitting around. People think they are getting a great deal, but they usually have a lot of maint to catch up on. Normally if you had a good duty C i would say lets try one other thing, change the tranny fluid. Buy a case of fluid and do a drain-refill-drive around block-repeat thing 4 times. A failed Duty C solenoid code is never a flase positive. If the code says it failed, it failed. Unknown history i dont know what to tell you. usual solutions are replace the solenoid and cross your fingers, rebuild the AWD unit, or replace the transmission with a known good one. Can you find out how long the tranny has been binding, that would help alot. nipper

yes, along with the roof stripes (Blu is a Limited). I just looked at Blu to see how the stripes are applied, and that slight color shift is actually the vinyl stripe. Now i need a cheap heatgun. nipper

I have the wheel rust which i am going to fix this fall, hence why i got the stripe. Decal is above the door trim, paint is below it. I just looked at my decals to find out. Its most likely cheaper to buy them then to have them made. nipper

1st YOU test another 2010 and see if it is normal. It may feel like 2-3 seconds but i have a feeling it is not. Some new GMs' do this to save wear on the transmission, they have a slight delay before they start moving. Have you tried sport or manual mode to see if it does the same thing. And you need to find a better service department. nipper

There should be a FWD light that comes on on the dash. I have a suspicoun that this bulb is missing form the dash to hide the fact the car (at one time) had torque bind. Did the TB go away with the fuse in the holder, as this is important. Cheap way to check the tires. Park the car. With caulk or tape or something mark all tires where they meet the road with a line. With a freind watching, drive the car forward 5 full tire rotations straight. All the marks should end up back at the same place if the tires are the same size. nipper
