There arent many things that go wrong with a tranny thats cheap. Hopefully this is just a bad inhibitor switch. Sounds like the switch is borderline or needs adjustment, along with the linkage. nipper

your hoping for the best, but its something else. With a sudden no warning failure, i would suspect either the Torque converter, or the front pump went out. Without either your not going anywhere. Anything else would have given you warning signs. Drop the pan and see what if any horrible things are in it. nipper

10% gasahol isnt going to do a thing, especially in NY, as its been here since the 1980's. So thats not a valid reason. Your supposed to get 20/27, so 23 is a little low. Now that 23 is at the old test method of 55 mph. Thats note #1. #2 is tire pressure and brand make a differnce. The higher mileage rated tire, the harder the rubber, the less rolling resistance. Your right foot is huge reason for gas mileage, you may need to retrain it. A scantool or a mechanical vac gauge will help with that. We have also changed to winter blend fuel (nov 1) and if you have had cold weather, your mielage will be lower. nipper

Do you hear the fuel injectors clicking (how do you know you have plenty of fuel). Crank sensor is spark, cam is fuel timing. Double check your timing belt marks. Check the cam and crank sensors for proper heartbeats in one full turn of the crankshaft. Check compression. Check the engine temp sensor. nipper

The newer car was a different animal. Thgis one may be as simple as getting a brand new ignition key made from the Vin number then a new cylinder. nipper

IF you have OE wires, yes you should look at that possability. Something else to try, swap wires from 2-4 to 1-3 and see if the miss moves

It shuts off #1 cylinder. Your over thinking what im saying. Its a physical hairline crack in the coil tower. Another test. With the engine running, wet the coil, wires, with a mist of water. This is best done in the evening. Look for blue sparks. nipper

Your best solution is just another set of valve cover gaskets. nipper

Would be interesting to see what happens to #4 Could be as simple as a cracked coil tower. nipper

Just try tightening the bolts first. nipper

ME ME ME ME please Just one nipper

Lets try basics. With the engine running, remove one spark plug at a time. Does the miss go away? this will tell us if its a single cylinder issue or a floating issue. nipper
