do I have to use the ej ecu fuel pump relay, cuz i am going to finish wiring the fuel pump to the ON position, with a fuse and toggle switch. if I do that, do I have the tell the ecu that the fuel pump is on? i was also going to wire the power for the ecu from the ON postion from the ignition, is that an ok fix? I would like not to run the ej ecu fuel pump relay wires back to the pump and back up to the ecu, is the ej fuel pump relay part of the wire harness, or is it separate? Cmon Austin I know you want to answer all these questions. Thanks everyone, ~Josh~ -

I would but the darned'd thing about it is I dont know where the fuel pump relay is located in a 86 gl wagon, and apparently, neither does haynes. "make sure to mark and organize all lines BEFORE you separate the blah blah blah, because if you dont, we arent going to be able to tell you what to do." end quote from haynes manual. does anyone know where the fuel pump relay is, or if i even have one? -

no problem, bought a EA82T fuel pump from mudrat and trying to figure out why there is no power to the stock fuel pump wiring when i turn key to the ON position. Thinking ima ghetto rig it to a toggle switch from the ignition, and hide toggle switch so I can turn it off if I think car is gonna get broken into. -

but doesnt the 4 speed have better crawling gear ratios? I have an 86 gl that has the 5 speed D/R, I dont think that i would like the 4 speed, unless you want to make the ultimate subaru-rock-crawler. and what year car will this be going into? i think the 1st Gen. cars have narrower frame rails from what ive heard.

well the motor is in the car and the intake is done and exhaust is done, radiator is mounted, with 2 fans...hehe. radiator hoses are done. running into first problem, on an 86 gl wagon, where is the fuel pump relay located, and secondly, why doesnt the fuel pump turn on when i turn key to on position, yes the battery is in and motor will turn over(so i did make the adapter right lol). does the have to be fuel in the tank, i drained the tank, could the fuel level indicator be telling the fuel pump relay to not turn on the fuel pump? Im stuck on this so ima go tackle the wiring a bit. HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!! ~Josh~

carb pistons in ea82t for performance build
ballitch replied to Jeepman775's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
are the carbed pistons up to taking boost pressure, I thought that they were cast, not forged. -

Somebody broke into my RX

I am the same way man, the thought of someone that doesnt give a s**t about other peoples property or the law and breaks into cars and steals things while us law-abidding citizens get f**ked-bent-over-counter-style and have to deal with it, i guess thats why in saudi arabia the penalty for stealing is still losing your hand. -
How much power can EA82T stand?

flywheel lightening at home
ballitch replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
if you take away from the normal amount of rotating mass that your car has you will have to use more gas and slip the clutch more to get the car moving, but it will help your engine rev faster and you may even be able to attain higher speeds by reducing drivetrain drag, but arent subaru flywheels cast iron? wouldnt that be a bad thing to lighten a cast irn flywheel? i dont know. -
way to go gnuman, finally someone says the obvious and stops saying "dont buy the car, or figure the HG job into the price of the car." If you all dont know Subaru has a new HG out that has some sort of titanium filament that is not prone to leakage, alot of people just dont know or care enough to do research, and it is true, only the people with blown HG's post about it, and it may not happen to you, you can't cast away a whole series of engines and say that they are all bad. I say buy the car, get a 2 or 3 year warranty, if they wont get you one go somewhere else, where your money is more appreciated, remeber, your the consumer, oyu have the money and ALL of the power.

what would be hard is making a obd 1 motor run from a obd 2 wiring harness, that would be a PITA. the motor should fit, doesnt the EZ30 have the same bolt pattern as the EJ series motors? If so then it'll bolt right up. ~Josh~

hmmmm elk....i mean damn elk hit your damn car, good thing your fam is alright, gotta love bumpers and reinforced body/rollcage. you secret is safe, what do you think the park rangers do with the elk that someone calls in and says they hit, they ask you how long ago, and then where were you, and you tell them, and they say just leave it there for the "other wildlife" all while getting the jeep fired up and making sure no one else heard you, and voila, they have meat for a month.

okay are you putting subs or speakers in the trunk? If you are it is easy, run the power wire from battery around engine bay and into gromet behind glove box, then route it down into the track that is like 3 inches off the floorpan, after removing the plastic foot guards, run all the way to the back and your done, get at least 20 feet of 8 gauge, thats right at least 8 gauge for up to 500 watts of amp power, if your headlights dim, get a damn capacitor.
