  1. Well my head gasket started to leak a few months ago and I decided to get a Lexus GX470. My Subie sits Maybe I will sell the wheels and put on my backup steelies. Fun while it lasted.
  2. I am interested in buying it. PM me info, go from there. I've been on the hunt for a while. Bought a Spectra but turned out not to be the one advertised (via Amazon) so returned it. I also need a water pump if anyone has one.
  3. Yeah I purchased a pricey 2 row metal radiator, waited 5 weeks for it to arrive, and it was a plastic 1 row that was sent to me (amazon spectra radiator). returned and gave up on that for now since my current radiator is actually working fine, just wanted to upgrade. the 2" lift actually helped keep engine cool.
  4. So after 4 months of a 2" lift, the cheap axle I had on passenger side (put in 18 months ago) gave out on me. Put a spare cheap axle on almost 2 months ago... still hear clicking etc but boot not torn and its working. I ned to look at it again and see if something else is causing the noise. But this got me into looking again for the obsolete oem axles for the GL/Loyale. I asked raxles.com and they said they had them in stock. I was willing to pay extra for high quality which they are known for. But he made a mistake and did not have the right axles So is everyone just dealing with the crap after-market axles? Anyone have oem quality front axles for these cars? I don't want to worry about this every 4-6 months but seems its the reality of owning these cars. Anyone ever do custom front-ends? Other than that, my Loyale is running very strong and no issues. Was thinking of selling it for something bigger but I really prefer to keep it as long as possible. Thanks, sull
  5. Same thing just happened to me. Freaked out as I went out for errands and decided to test the 4WD since its been a while and it did not engage and no light. Got home, looked under the hood and found a disconnected vacuum hose. Works fine once re-connected. Phew!
  6. My parking brake has been acting up over the past few months and finally completely broke today. Just starting to look into the issue now. Front right is slightly engaged as I hear occasional noise and brake dust.
  7. Wow, interesting side-topic (legality of DIY auto work). I used to have a nice driveway ornament (Jaguar XJ-S) for a few years before selling it. It was a beautiful car so that helps. Before that I had an 88 4-Runner I took off the road and sat for many years. Never thought about these limitations you guys are speaking of. Hating the thought of it. I might be moving to a 6 acre farm with old barns on property which I have always wanted for a place to do car work and other hobbies. Hope that works out. Maybe their is a future business opportunity.... "Open Coop Garages" or something along those lines. Co-working spaces for backyard mechanics ;-)
  8. Something like this would look good on my loyale.
  9. What about adapting existing guards from other trucks? Anyone have input on which ones are good to work with and customize? I was thinking of doing a very simple black bar that would only wrap around the front of the bumper and nothing else to it. Add a few lights in the center.
  10. I love this thread! Never noticed those before. Not bad.
  11. I have never done this myself and am only considering it for my current subie (prefer not to) but plan to eventually get another subie that I will be more rough with and hit some real offroad trails like I used to do with my Toyota 4Runners. Pictures are good and plenty but maybe a thread on tools and techniques would be interesting here (does it already exist?) too? Videos would be great (I have seen some on Youtube for Jeeps mainly).
  12. It's not so much the platform you need to worry about, it's how you strategize and publicize the project. Gather and compile and create MUCH content (including ongoing video/blog updates) to be used to support the campaign. Ask for twice as much as you think you need now. Most important thing is to be successful in completing the project with the help of crowdfunders, not getting 20% done and hitting a financial wall. You could ask for more money in a second campaign and that is reasonable for certain projects (i.e. software development) but my opinion is to try to nail down full amount in initial campaign. How much do you think it will take x2? Now if you get a sponsor or two, then you can get creative with perks back to funders... like adding their names as decals to windows or maybe a high quality calendar of the car that they helped create... spoob like that. Give back to supporters best you can. Off the cuff thoughts.....
  13. Thanks. A bit of both. Rims have a 48mm offset + the adaptor/spacer. I added tail light guards today... a bit hastily, but they look pretty good.
  14. Being my original thread about doing these Crosstrek XV wheels on my Loyale, I should post a picture of the real thing This is with the 2" BOSS lift and 5x100 adaptors. I havent trimmed yet (slight front rubbing on full turn). Considering different struts. I have a pair of front Forester struts that I grabbed cheap a while back. Or maybe the late 80s Honda Accord setup. Rides nice as is so prob not priority but i'll start looking into my options with having adaptor plates and the lift.
  15. Thanks for the tail light guards, They look great, installing this week. Still hunting for a good front grill guard.
  16. I bet that has a sweet rumble. Any chance you got this from a Vermont owner? Could have been the one I had which also had the rear wing, side strips, bad exhaust system needing full replacement and other similarities ;-)
  17. Love this car! Very clean. I had a white one like this VERY briefly. I just put a Yakima Megawarrior on mine. What you got going on for the exhaust?
  18. Great find! Also like the red striping. Look forward to seeing your car transform.
  19. Not sure yet. Only been on hghway for about 10 miles. Been doing a lot of around town driving.
  20. I got the used Yakima MegaWarrior. Here is what it looks like: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/153342-lifting-the-loyale-next-week/?p=1285403
  21. Black lugs and megawarrior up and on. Too big?
  22. Honestly performance is very good (5spd). Actually better than before but I had balding warped tires on her before this upgrade. geolandars feel like butter. I'm sure their is a slight hit since these are big rims but hard to notice since the car is always on the slow side anyway lol.
