power steering rack unstoppable leak.
George1943 replied to sirtokesalot's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYou may have a crack on the hose behind the o-ring. That happened to me on an AC hose. If that's the problem, then you'll need a new hose or maybe the end could be changed.

1986 Justy 4WD -- Engine ID Help?
From what I can see, it looks like either an EA71 or EA81 4 cylinder.

The splines in one of my front hubs was stripped out when that happened to me a few years ago.

'82 Brat w/EA81 Dies After Weber Swap. Fuel Pump Issue?
Is your aternator/charging system working? I had an earlier Brat that died when the alternator died. When cranking, the fuel pump worked, but once it started the pump quit. Replaced the alternator and all was good again. Sounds like that may be your problem.

1983 Subaru GL 4wd - Clutch replacement issues
I agree with silverhelme. I'm thinking the grinding noise you heard with the old clutch was the axle slipping in one of the front hubs. Maybe you didn't need a new clutch after all. Try putting it in gear ( two wheel drive ) and with the clutch pedal out, have someone look at the front axles to see if one of them is just spinning in the hub. If it's not moving anyway, you could just get out and check for yourself if you don't have someone to check for you.

EJ fuel injected or Weber and Escort distributor
Thanks for the response. Good to know. That is my 'plan B', IF I ever get around to making the swap.

EJ fuel injected or Weber and Escort distributor
Does anyone know the approximate HP difference between a '95 fuel injected EJ22 and one that has been converted to a Weber and an Escort distributor?

hitachi swap issues
I switched to a Weber and haven't regretted it for a second. Lots of other people have done that too. The only vacuum hoses that I use that I can think of are 1 to the AC control, 1 off of the carb to the distributor vacuum advance , and 1 to the power brake booster. All the others are capped off. I still use the PCV valve but I think some people cap that off too. Hope this helps.

Sway bar end link bushings
These stabilizer bushings are available at Rock Auto, Oreilly's, and probably other places as well.

84 brat EA81 a/c low side port?
The high side is the line that goes to the condenser in front of the radiator. The low is the one that comes from inside the car. The low side hose is bigger than the high side hose. The sight glass eye is on the high side.

New member Ea-81 hydro lifters
In the 'Shop Talk' section, search for 'Adjust hydraulic valve lifter'. There's a write up on how to adjust them.

'83 BRAT, Shorted battery when replacing ignition coil, now it won't start.
Sounds like you need to clean your battery posts. Also, I agree with DaveT, always disconnect the negative first and if both are disconnected, connect the negative last. I learned that lesson by experience.

EA82 whats this 1/4" little green oring for (maybe from power steering) ?
A little green o-ring? My first thought was a castrating band used on goats, sheep, etc. (Look it up on youtube) Although that one looks like it's been laying out in the sun and deteriorating for some time.

No Power to Fans
Easy. Just look in the same forum where you posted your question. On Sept. 25, Eric Anderson has a link to a 1982 Subaru FSM. He spent a lot of time scanning it and posted it for all to share. I, for one, really appreciate the trouble he went to to do that for us. . .

1st Gen Wishlist
I don't have any of the parts that you need but I have some info that you may not be aware of. I used the door handle from a '80 sedan on the tailgate of my '81 Brat. Perfect fit. I'm telling you this so you won't be tempted to pay a premium price for a handle thinking that only a tailgate handle will work on a tailgate.

No power to the ignition??
I've had a problem like that before and the battery posts just needed cleaning. Simple, easy fix. Worth a try.
-
EA71 head gasket??
My first thought is your intake manifold gasket(s) is leaking water into the intake part of the manifold.

Ignition Coil ground???
Are you sure there's not a condenser on that wire?

No fire on cylinders 2 and 4
When you had the engine apart changing the head gaskets, etc., did you stuff a rag or something in the intake ports to keep unwanted things out while the engine was apart? If so, maybe you forgot to take it out of that head when you put it all back together. I've heard of that happening to other people before, but never to me (I wish).

Factory A/C
Here is a picture of my AC belt arrangement. It's on a 1982 Brat DL. I would assume yours to be the same.

Big valves or little valves?
Thank you john in KY for those measurements. I agree with jono, not enough difference to get too excited about.

Big valves or little valves?
Thanks to all for your responses. Does anyone know the actual measurements of the small and large valves?
