Help me! Im stumped
TheSubaruJunkie replied to coolked's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Brats came with EA81's unless the EA82 was put in there afterwards. The clunk is most likely a CV joint. -Brian -
EA82 Fan Delete
TheSubaruJunkie replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Are they subie fans or did you buy some aftermarket ones? Ive noticed aftermarket fans run upwards of $80-$90. -Brian -
I dont want to put the clutch fan back on the ea82Twhen im done. Has anyone successfully replaced their clutch fan with an electric fan? I already have one electric on the radiator, but i'd like to get another. I can see the stock fan is going to be too thick but im not sure how the EA81 fans are and if theyd fit or not. -Brian

Here are some pictures of the process... http://corkysrocks.net/Conversion%204%20to%205.htm -Brian

From what I understand, the rear of the conversion is simple. After you remove the castle nut, and caliper, the hub should slide off the splines like any older subaru. Then you remove the backing plate and whatnot. Shouldnt take any effort at all. -Brian

Thats awesome. Free subaru's are always the best subarus! Welcome to the board. -Brian

If you use the images from your web host onto the USMB's forums, you wont be using up any more USMB bandwidth if you had posted just links instead. It is only when you host an image on USMB's servers and then post it in a thread that it uses alot of bandwidth. With that being said, the mod looks great. My CD Player plays MP3's burned onto a CD, but I was shopping for a iPod setup when I shopped for my new stereo. -Brian -

My front strut extensions were marked for left/right and had arrows pointing to the front of the car so you knew which way they went in. But its not a AA lift. -Brian -
Is Justy really Swift?
TheSubaruJunkie replied to cricket's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Dont really see a reason why not. I know of people who have turbo'd a justy, and I know of someone who is planning to supercharge theirs. Ive been thinking more and more about getting one. They're all over craigslist but I havent found the one I want. Which would be a 5spd 4WD MPFI model. -Brian -

disconnecting 4wd
TheSubaruJunkie replied to 95 super subbie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Cut the button out for 4WD. They'll know your not using 4WD cause you'll be spinning out everywhere. If you want to have even MORE fun... then remove the front cvs joints and run with it in 4WD making it a true RWD car. Also, weld the rear diff before you do so you have RWD and POSI.... then KILLLLLLL ESCORTS!! -Brian -

Possbilty a CV joint. Do you feel any vibration or clunk in the car anywhere? -Brian -
Any peeps with AA lifts get alignments yet?
TheSubaruJunkie replied to kingbobdole's topic in Off Road
I think they're talking about camber problems. Our subarus dont have adjustable camber, and unless AA's lift incorporates an adjustment for the camber I doubt an alignment shop will be able to help... Now if your car is pulling to the left then thats something an alignment shop can fix. -Brian -

is this an ea81 or ea82 lift? Did AA fix their horrible camber problems? -Brian -
need some input???? " Fixed"!!!!!
TheSubaruJunkie replied to N8NQU's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Start with the timing. I believe you'll want it near 12 degrees if your car is naturally aspirated. if its not that then check with your pcv system. -brian -
i take it he didnt call? -Brian

TheSubaruJunkie replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
I plan on running stock boost on the stock VF7 with my Saab 900 IC. I was thinking of upgrading to a larger intercooler for better cooling, but for now what I have will have to work. -Brian
