  1. Im planning on being up there Labor Day monday and the following Tuesday. Maybe an overnight wheeling trip or something. I can come up sunday night after work and lend a hand. -Brian
  2. You shouldnt have a problem doing it in Dirt or gravel. Believe me... even the crappy AT's can do it. -Brian
  3. Oh... well, the NV crew will get to see me before the bay area IM planning on comming up after Labor Day to do some wheeling. This thread is for a bay area meet... thinking about Fairfield or Napa Valley. There's a really nice lake off of hwy 101 that would be perfect. -Brian
  4. first of all DO NOT ENGAGE 4WD ON DRY PAVEMENT!!! Do it in the dirt, mud, ice or snow. You want to make sure each wheel has at least 10% slip. If you do not, you will bind the transmission and may cause some problems later down the road. In order to test it, find some dirt. Peel out in FWD. Then hit the button. Peel out in 4WD. You should tell a difference. -Brian
  5. Cool. Do you spend alot of time in the bay area? I just got moved into my new place, time will start opening up soon. In a couple weeks I will be getting Sun-Mon off.... so a Sunday meet sounds like its in the works. -Brian
  6. You'll have no fun with 2WD and an Automatic. If you want to get into sube's, find a 5spd Dual Range 4WD I'd say $1500-$2000 as well. -Brian
  7. Ive only done brakes on old subies, so I dont know if RWD american cars are any easier. Since RWD cars do not have front CV's, i could see how it would be a little easier to replace things like pads and rotors. But doing any work on a subie is simple... a qualified mechanic shouldnt be complaining about it. -Brian
  8. Forget everything you learned from the ford... the subaru is much different. Search e-bay for a Factory Service Manual for your year... read it, learn it, live it! -Brian
  9. There's no WE... Your the one who did it -Brian
  10. Depends on how you look at things. But he said its the best price, and Im pretty sure there are cheaper lifts out there for EA81 and EA82s. The AA has something for everyone tho... so, looks like it'd be a good idea if you have a EJ series. -Brian
  11. You can email a pic to me and I will be happy to host it. As a matter of fact, I could lend you an album on my gallery and you can host as many pix of your projects you want. PM me for more info. -Brian
  12. Yeah I drove from Redding California to Albany Oregon in RWD mode after losing a CV. Ive done it in my old Brat too. Never experienced any ill effects, you should be fine for a week or two. I drove my Brat in RWD for a couple months I believe. -Brian
  13. Get rid of the stock fans. Glad to hear the car is running. Cant wait to see it with all the body work done. -Brian
  14. I know how you got the original 2" but what did you do to add another 2"? The Forester is lookin great! Much better with swampers on it. -Brian
  15. Lol, is this erics brat he's selling? I used carfax once and paid $10 for it i think. Then emailed them to try to get my $$ back (their policy said if i wasnt satisfied... and i wasnt). Never got my $$ back so I wish i woulda just asked here 1st. -Brian
  16. Have you called to leave him a message? I think his number is listed on a new thread in the marketplace. I remember seeing him posting a '84 wagon for sale. Has his Phone# and contact instructions. -Brian
  17. That looks great with those tires. Cut the fenders and slap on some nice wide fender flares and you could make a pretty sweet mud dragster outa that. -Brian
  18. Remember how I fixed Daves fans when we where wheeling Jumbo Grade? Cut the plug from your donor car, that plugs into the fan. You will need to figure out which is ground and which is hot (positive). Wire the hot to the + on the coil. Any time your ignition is turned on, the fan will turn on. I wouldnt use it long-term, but it will keep your brat from overheating. If you switch to manual gauges then there is no wiring, therefore nothing to go wrong. Its definatly a more reliable way of going. -Brian
  19. Does it have a CWA sticker on the backside of the screen? Check the other post for a description. I gave a laptop to Oddcomp at the WCSS, not sure if its the one you found or not. -Brian
  20. If its a IBM Thinkpad, 486sx with a expanding keyboard and a missing rear panel than its Oddcomps. I gave it to him, not sure how it'd make it into your car, but just thinking. -Brian
