  1. Not quite rhino lining, but should outlast paint for sure.
  2. Well i pretty much was forced to do this. I was traveling with a spare car battery in the bed, and it tipped over and leaked. Then proceeded to eat straight through the paint to expose some shiney metal. So I neutralized the acid and preppared the area, and bought some Rustoleum Bed Liner. I picked up a Gallon of roll on liner, and a can of the spray stuff. I used steel wool to scuff the bed, and break down all the surface rust. Also used my angle grinder to take care of some nasty stuff. No primer or anything, just started laying it on. I used the spray can to get corners and stuff... then rolled on a good coat with the gallon. Suprisingly to myself, I only used like 1/4 of the gallon for the first coat. So I did another coat and let it sit and dry. A week later, I went and bought 2 more cans of aerosol cans and masked the truck for its final coats. I used the roll on bedliner for pretty much everything except above and around the rear window. After a good thick coat of rolled on liner, i used the aerosol cans to hit heavily in the corners, and around all the tie down spots. Then I emptied my roller pan in the bed of the brat, and used the bed as a roller pan. The final coat consisted of about 1/3 gallon spilled in the bed little at a time and rolled around with an average paint roller. I think it should last me alittle while. And sure does look alot better than the beatup half rusty bed i used to have. A few pix of before, during & after: thats all from the first coat pretty much. Here are the ones from the following week with the masking and final coats: I ended up leaving every panel on except one. I was originally thinking of doing the panels seperatly but then got lazy. After you start a laying a coat of this stuff.... your head gets alittle whoooooozy and you kinda forget things. So I have to just do that 1 panel and the tail-gate, and its done. Also re-paint my rollbar & Install that.
  3. A couple tires I wish they still made: Kumho Venture MTs & The Cooper Discoverer STT's. Both tires used to be available in a 205/75R14 size which was about 26.1" and worked perfectly on most mildly lifted subies (take a look at Greenleys ride for instance). When I bought my Kumho's I was told I got the last set TireRack.com had in stock and was not planning on ordering anymore. Then I heard Kumho pulled that size, but then re-released it and then pulled it again. Maybe do some homework and find a used set or a shop somewhere who might have old stock on hand. When I bought my Coopers (about 6 years now) I knew they were pulling that tire size soon. So i called around to all the local cooper tire dealers asking about that tire & size, and lucked out. I found a shop in West Sacramento that had 3 in the back they could not sell and gave me a killer deal on them along with ordering 1 more to make a complete set. Both tires worked extremely good off-road and shared the same dog-bone style tread pattern. The kumho's did feel stiffer and appear to be a better overall tire but both were still awesome off-road!
  4. You maybe able to purchase a 36mm socket from Napa or Autozone and then return it when you are done, provided you dont get it covered in grease and grime. I have one, but im kinda far away. To get you buy, you can limp that thing in 4WD all day everyday, at 60mph if you wanted to. To get to work and back, it wont do any harm at all.
  5. I dont think I saw anybody say it, but I use a Milk Crate. And its wide enough inside to fit my ammo case snugly. Which is what I keep all my spare nuts & bolts, and other odds-n-ends in. Then there is room left over for a pair of jumper cables, tire iron, and a bag of tools... carb cleaner... brake fluid. Often I punch holes through the floor of the wagon to run straps through, and the honeycomb in the milk crate gives you plenty of straping down options.
  6. 710 Rock Creek Dr Stevenson, WA 98648 (509) 427-3979
  7. Sounds like the VR on your alt is going bad, time for a new one. I give up on the prize though.
  8. Yeah thats why I never had lights up there. Always blinded me when I tried to drive.
  9. just one more reason to get some aux. lights to mount on there.
  10. Jeremy i know thanks Mike, that is very good to know, i am going to mark that on the map and we can head for a toll-free crossing. Dave, shaded forest definatly sounds better than desert.
  11. Here is a link of what I kinda had in mind: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Citrus+Heights,+CA+95610&daddr=Gardnerville,+NV+89460+to:Reno,+NV+to:Rim+Drive,+Crater+Lake,+OR+97604+(Crater+Lake+National+Park+Entrance)+to:Skamania+County+Fairgrounds+in+Stevenson,+WA&hl=en&geocode=%3B%3B%3BFd6OjgIdEl-4-CEiMAZtf81pyw%3BFYYwuQIdnPm7-CG7_eByXd0RhQ&mra=ls&sll=42.175343,-120.897616&sspn=12.663161,28.54248&ie=UTF8&ll=42.163403,-120.959473&spn=12.666395,28.54248&t=h&z=6 I only threw in crater lake so it would keep Google from forcing me to Take I5.
  12. No trails for this convoy... Dave, i havent talked to JB a whole lot on the exact route, but im not sure why we would want to head toward I5... would be out of the way wouldnt it? Im still in the process of punching in addresses and seeing what towns, routes, and whatnot. We still got the better half of a week to finalize everything.
  13. Our trip plans should put us near Bend oregon friday mid-afternoon. Not sure exactly what our route will be, but if anyone who lives along the way is planning to drive north and would like to follow along, they are more than welcome! I will have my laptop & GPS setup, and if we're lucky enough to find ourselfs at a Starbux friday morning (or any modern coffee shop for that matter) i will be able to reply here with our location & status. Would be nice to meet at a fueling station close to the freeway to help keep downtime to a minimum. We are a pack of EA81's so don't worry about not being able to keep up So far we got: TheSubaruJunkie (1983 GL10 Brat, EA81) NV Zeno (Bone stock 1983 GL Wagon) Jibs (Either one of his Brats, or a hatch...) Possibly Subieman??? (1996 Outback Wagon with A/C [LUCKY!!]) Did I miss anybody? Dalton... you there?
  14. I took care of noflood. Pete, jump in the chat i gotta speak with you.
  15. Not green for long, but its like 12:30am. Okay, you talked me into it. It'll be different shortly.
  16. Thanks Andy for helping bring this back to life again! I know there will be alot of happy USMB members tomorrow morning.
  17. You should look into getting a Brat targa stripe made for it when its done
  18. DUDE!!! Using that 3door is such a better idea than trying to convert a wagon. That thing looks badaas!
  19. The footage will be on digital8 film, until I port it to my PC via Firewire. Production and what to do with said footage can be agreed upon when all parties involved are face to face.
  20. You should goto Autozone and pick up a can of the Rustoleum spray on bedliner. And do a light/even coat on that thing. It will match the rack (hell, re-do the rack too cause that job I did is like 6 years old).
  21. Greenley is bringing a wiring harness up with him. I am bringing my camcorder. If there is any onsite electricity anywhere, it would be a good idea to host it there. That way I can record the entire thing without worrying about batteries.
