  1. I've got a turbo muffler without any cats running 2 1/4 piping from the Y. It's got a rumble to it. Also, make sure the pipe is past the bumper. Otherwise, it'l resonate really badly around 3k rpms.
  2. Yeah, I'm checking them. None, so far. Hafta put a WTB in there. Craigslist.com didn't have too much in the way of subaru stuff.
  3. Me suby, that is. Was flyin down the highway, went for 3rd, ground then.....bang! What was that? Long story short, I'm stuck in second gear. I will guess I lost a shifting fork. Anyways, NOW what? Yank it out and have it rebuilt for a tune of $1200? Or drive roughly 600 miles round trip and hopefully find a junkyard tranny? Since here and Tucson have NOTHING. Guess I shoulda had it overhauled when I replaced the engine. Not fair, I just got the carby retuned to the changed weather too.
  4. Cool! Looks like fun! Didn't have my speakers hooked up, but it looked good. Boy, do I miss snow.
  5. Wow! I've seen pics of it but, no vids. That thing looked like it was ready to launch off the dyno when he hit the nitrus!
  6. Forester_Ranger: Dude, those are cool! Me like! I'll take the lifted WRX brat with a pair of dana 60 axles, please. Then I'll whoop those guys on top truck challenge and the ultimate adventure. {edit} ok, that's twice I've started a new page. {/edit}
  7. Don't know, don't wanna know, don't care to try. Yes, scary that this is being discussed.
  8. If it's like my sister's old 89 SPFI wagon, then yeah, coolant temp sensor. Stubborn as a mule when cold, happy as a lark when warm.
  9. The poor little roo. Blast those Subaru killing hondas!
  10. Still need to move the front and rear axels closer to the bumpers. Then a lift with 30x9.50s, true transfer case, e-lockers front an rear, etc etc etc......ok, I'll shut up now.........
  11. Yeah, don't use the pinch welds. They are WEAK. Corse, mine are useless ,not from jacking it up, but from landing the undercarrage on the ground while getting stuck.
  12. Hummm funny, my Suby is doing exacly the same thing. Again. (Must stop jumping, Must stop jumping, Must stop jumping....) Yes, if your axel nut is tight, I will say wheel bearings. And yes, they will get quieter turning right. I don't know why, they just do. Mine, I can feel a vibration in the steering wheel, not alot, but it's there; and a sharp vibration on the floor.
  13. Coolness...Roof vids rule! BTW, another tip to going faster without adding HP is weight reduction!
  14. Hehe...sounds like one of my sister's Suby. That thing is so slow granny could out walk it! Course, it died and got towed home today cause it refuses to start. This one's gonna be a tricky one to fix. I can see it now. Oh twell...off to brainstorming...............
  15. Ahhhh there's no pic like a suby in a rally pic! Beautiful pics! Makes me wanna try and contact a guy that has a blue 87 turbowagon for like, 800 bucks. Problem is: A) it's like playin phone tag when U wanna talk to him and it's been sitting there for roughly 5 years!
  16. I got 209,000 miles out of my EA82 before it gave up. It was smoking like there was no tomarrow and slow as malases. But it got me to and from work, till I lost the gear on the cam that drives the ditsy. Ground it quite nicly.
  17. Have Colorado Component Rebuilders build you a new EA81. I had a ea82 built to spec: higher comp pistons, decked heads, and reground cams. They build to Subaru specs and are very friendly and knowlegable. With the Weber carby and the proper exhaust it will give your Brat a much needed performance boost.
  18. YES! Upgrade to the Weber. Your Suby will thank you a million times over. It's easy to work on and will give lots of reliable miles. The hitachi works great when it feels like it. My two sisters each have a 87 gl wagon with the hitachi. One is happy as a lark. The other has been overhauled twice and it's still not right.
  19. My brother and I lifted my EA82 out. It was heavy, but not bad. Once it was out of the engine bay, I could lift it by myself; not for long, but I could move it around the garage when needed. CCR told me it's about 150 lbs.
  20. Sounds like the idle mixture is right on. Idle speed screw directly pushes on the throttle linkage. Idle mixture goes into the front passenger corner on the carb body. Below (I think) the ditsy vac. advance port on the carb.
  21. does it make any differance if U move the mixture screw? hummm gonna hafto do a few dounuts and think on this one...........
  22. Isn't there seperate circuits between the idle, primary and secondary? With the idle mixture screw all the way in, your running max lean which would explain the reason of the hand over carb mouth smoothing out the idle. Have you tried this site: http://homepage.powerup.com.au/~camncath/retrofitting_the_weber_dgav_32.htm
