i've had mine up a ramp that a guy with a modified samuri had build, he had it at a grand opening of a new offroad shop up the street from where i work. they had a show and shine and well i went up the ramp and they said i got up farther then some stock jeeps. i have a picture but its on my cell phone i will try and get it posted. they weren't doing any contest because they didn't know how to do the scoring.

after this trip i had a lot mud caked in everywhere when i finally cleaned it took 10 bucks worth of quarters and i never got it all.here is a picture of what my car looked like after another mudhole incident.

thats the way i like my subie to look, nicely covered in a whole lotta mud. perferrably with big chunks of mud hanging too.

well its nothing special, in fact its kinda of backyard mechanic type. me and some guys at work just brainstormed it together with what we had lying around.first we put the tires on used 235/75-15 on white spoke rims for a toyota-hubs drilled to 6 lugs, then we cut the fender wells so they wouldn't rub. of course the struts are adjusted all the way up, too. we used some mounting brackets from a firestone airbag kit( for load management on 3/4-1 ton trucks) for the rear struts. the front top strut mounts we're drilled out for i think `1/2" grade 8 bolts and shock bushing from rancho shocks make up the spacers, then the strut towers mounting holes we're elongated so i could get the alignment abck as close as i can to stock. but thats since been beat out of alignment from wheeling. so basically the 29" buckshots, adjusted struts, spacers and brackets, i figure i got around 5" of lift after this i had i think 11.5" of clearance at the lowest point in the front. but, now i need to get new struts and springs and i think i could get to 13" of clearance in the front if not more. yes i have gone through front axles i'm on my 3rd pair i think but i took the inner boots loose at the axle shaft moved them closer to the joint and zip tied them so the boots wouldn't tear and they have been lasting longer. hope thats enough detail and not to much. i did all this back in late december, i thought about and was looking to buy a lift but wanted more clearance if possible, the guys at work with lifted jeeps and trucks are all jealous of my ground clearance. now i need more power or gears or both. oh and someday i will perfect this lift and build something more permanent but so far everthing is holding up nicely

what a great reason to go out and do some wheeling, having fun and helping other people at the same time. cool pics guys, wish i was there looks like alot of fun. kinda of aways to drive for me though.

yes i do have some, i do know of a video that i haven't been able to get my hands of as yet, too. this pic was taken on a hill called the waterfall i'm actually on the middle climb to this there is an easy run on the left of me the hard rock face climb to my right. there was no way i could make the hard climb but i was thinking about it, everyone wanted me to do the easy one and i said nope i'm going to try this one. also did one called the can opener that was a good climb that i did make and everyone was surprised i did it. well heres a couple of pics.

back to the mud thing. i love mud i can't wait until the rainy season to go out and find a good mud hole to go and play in, my kids love it too they are always looking out for a good mudhole when they are riding around with someone else. me personally i leave it on until the rain washes it off or it falls off, hell there is still mud on it from the last mudhole i found in the woods a month ago.

I don't want to copy The Austin, but...
chazmataz replied to samo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i say do it. its a sweet looking ride, i would be inclined to copy to some extent with my own touch. it definently needs to have the swampers on it. i think that a subie with swampers looks a whole lot meaner, thats what going on mine when i wear out the buckshots. -
i don't have a comercial lift, i have a custom do it yourself suspenions lift of about 5" with 29" tires and i don't have any trouble at 70-75 mph, hell i think i may have been at 80. if you don't do at least 70 mph in wash. you get ran over so i have been at this speed for miles.

yes it will, if you have a tach you will know if your in low because it will rev up fast when driving then it would normally, if you don't have a tach you should be able to hear the engine rev faster and higher sooner then normal when you are in 2wd.
-
yes there is, mine doesn't lite up anymore when in low since my shifter boot came loose from the console but i can stick my finger in through the boot on the left side and touch a tang that must be on the end of the switch and it will go on. so, that could be bent or your switch could be bad.

Forester with 4" lift and 29" Super Swampers
chazmataz replied to Forester_Ranger's topic in Off Road
dude, thats a sweet looking ride. glad to see a newer rig with a lift on it, i have been wanting to get an outback and do something like that to it. i do have a question, i thought that it has been stated in an earlier thread that a phantom lsd won't work in the ea82 transmission. if i'm wrong then thats my next modification on my list. -
well it all started last december when i went wheeling with some guys from work, struts cranked up and the tallest 13" snow tires i could get. i was hooked. with help from the guys at work and some parts, i got it lifted (suspension only ) converted to 6 lugs and cut the fender wells for clearance and away i went. i've been wheeling at goat mtn., squaw mtn., wildcat mtn. and browns camp ohv park (all in oregon). so far.

i have a pair of kc daylighters too, but i have yet to install them. did you have to do anything with your electrical system in order to run them? are you limited to how long you can run them at one time too?

ea82 4x4 camber correction
chazmataz replied to Humble Nuto 53's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
well, i really hate to say so but you might have to get an alignment that is done on a alignment rack, they can tell you if something is bent too that you can't see with your eyes. if they can't do anything as far as adjusting it so your alignment is right don't pay for an alignment until they can, they shouldn't charge you anyway unless they can. -

have you had your car on an alignment rack to see what your numbers are??? its possible that something could be bent, too.
