  1. I don't know that you can get in there to repair it. Used on would be the easiest.
  2. Yes, the same. Just make sure you have the same ABS Sensor location and you will be all good.
  3. If it does it again, you can do the manual release of the shifter and put it in Neutral and see if that fixes the problem.
  4. Auto or Manual Trans If its a manual make sure the clutch is pressed all the way down.
  5. A friend picked up a 01 Legacy at a pretty good price. It's leaking oil on the HG so he's going to replace them. He asked if there was a better Improved HG. I said I'd stay with Subaru HG's. Anyone know any different? Any other hints for a quality HG job on a 01 2.5? Thanks Larry
  6. Pull the bulbs, if you don't seen any problems, put a new fuse in and see if the shift lock works. If it does then start putting the bulbs back in one at a time and step on the brake as you do each one. That will isolate the problem.
  7. I'm the same, as soon as you recycle it, you will need it. But sooner or later they hit the recycle center. I've posted them cheap $5 + shipping and they still don't move and it's not worth the time to box and ship them. Recycle center when you can part with them.
  8. Did you swap everything over from your 96? If so you should be good. I have several of the small botttom brackets if you need one. You have the larger 14mm bolts or the 12mm bolts? Larry
  9. The brackets will all swap over. Sometimes the Ps Pump bracket is different as far as the pump dia, but it bolts to the engine just fine. As long as you have the brackets that fit the PS Pump and AC you are good to go. Larry
  10. What do you mean by will not work? Does it shift into gear, any gear? Have you checked the shift cable on the passenger side of the car? Most transmission shops do a free analysis, at least in the US. If you disconnect the main plug on the trans it will place it in the limp mode and it should go in 3rd gear. Is the AT Temp light flashing 16 times, when you start the car? If so, the trans computer has a code stored. Check the codes.
  11. No they are not interchangable unless you repalce the bracket that holds it.
  12. The bracket it screws to bolts to the engine with 3 12 mm bolts. Do you have the old or new style tensioner? You can replace the new with the old one. I have the parts if you need them. Larry Colorado Springs.
  13. Sounds like headgaskets. Let it cool, Jack the front as high as you can or put it on a hill. Fill the radiator and overflow bottle. Start the car and burp the coolant by squeezing the upper radiator hose until the bubbles stop coming out and then put the radiator cap back on. Now if you blow coolant out of the overflow bottle you most likely have a HG leaking. You can check it with a chemical tester as well. NAPA has them if you want to do it yourself.
  14. Yes, it's the Bearing. I have two good hubs 35K on them froma 99 Legacy. PM me if you want them. Larry
  15. It's an AWD Car, if you flat tow it you will trash the transmission. Be safe not sorry, get it towed with a flat bed tow truck. The FWD fuse put's the transmission in FWD with the car running. It won't solve the brake issue.
  16. I've used 6 or so GripForce clutch kits. Been happy with each one.
  17. Most likely the motor is just going out. Pull it, sometimes there is junk in there that may be part of the problem. Just a connector and 3 screws. There is no temperature control. Check to make sure there is voltage at the fan when the switch is on and it's cold/not working. Could be a bad switch or the resistor pack which controls the speed. Are you checking it on High?
  18. I have a like new tank if you want it. Shipped from CO. Larry
  19. I've used the Harbor freight ones for years, never had a problem. I do oil the threads to keep the nut from gauling. Larry
  20. I've been searching the yards for one for the 98 Outback that I have and have not seen another one like it. Starting to think it's an aftermarket even though it looks stock. UPAP and pull the complete unit.
  21. Yep, I got everything including the bracket. Now I just need to find a good 2.2 to drop in. Thanks, Larry
