could be time for a new engine. If there are no leaks, It's using oil. Keep it filled and you will be fine. Normal leaks that can be corrected: - Cam or Crank shaft front seal - Oil Pump Seal and rear plate - Breather plate on the back of the block - Valve cover Gaskets - Oil fill tube - Cam Cover on the Rear Right. Used engines are a good bet if you find one that was hit hard but otherwise looks in good condition.

These fail pretty often. It is driven by a motor at the bottom of the door at the aft side. Lots of times the cables come out of the track. Once that happens, you pretty much have to replace the complete unit. I've worked the cable back into the track but it doesn't last to long. If you can get it into the aft lock position, you can just undo it every time. Units are $25 at the local pull and pay. There is a manual retract option, the allen wrench is in the center counsel. Get out the owners manual.

I picked up a 98 Legacy Outback. It was hit in the drivers front. I replaced the radiator, got it running but now it will not shut off. If I turn the key off, it keeps on running. I have to disconnect the negative battery cable to get it to shutoff. When I hook the battery back up it like the ignition is already on even though the key is not on. It does have the Subaru Security system. I take it a relay is stuck on. Where's the relay? Thanks, Larry

Check the drive shafts and differentials. I've had a couple of Subaru's where the axle popped out of the Diff a 1/2" or so and it feels just like the clutch is slipping. Look at both end of the half shafts and give them a good tug. If you don't see anything, put the brake on and let the clutch out, if one axle is turning, that's the problem.
