Oh! yes cover the ALTERNATOR! i learned the hard way, i was working on my car outside in the rain, as soon as i start it, the alternator was dead, right before it rained, i just tested the voltage got 14.4, after it rained, and the entire engine bay was soaked(i didn't start it till morning) i start it, and i only got 12.1v out of the battery. and then decreased more and more, but got me to the auto parts store, and back to replace it.

Yup, mine was bad, i cnat find my before pictures, but the rust was in the well where the door is, and right at the bottom corner, and there rear, is was VERY well rusted, RIGHT through, not sandable. And i need new front fenders, now PS: the reason why i spent so much, was because i plan on keeping the car for a LONG time, and there is NO rust anywhere on the undercariiage, or anything, just detachables, make spots of rust(doors, fender, etc)

Im stumped!

To be honest, i don't know exactly what we are looking at :-p What is that ? what does it do? -
You know what, i just figured something out, my speedo bounces between 10km at speeds from 0-70km if it is getting a signal thinking im deaccelerating and accelerating, it might be tricking the TCU, and it doesn't think im taking off, and gets mixed up. Ill test it by unplugging the speedo cable from the back, and see if it works then. That way it will only reliy on the 2 internal speed sensors in the tranmission.

i decided not to care. Me and my dad will pull off the rear casing. Anything i need to look at in particular? Doesn't seem hard at all anyway. Then i can go to subaru and they can look at the rear case, and do whatever he said to do, then i come back, and install it and im Good to Go. Or if you think thats a bad idea. Ill go straight to subaru and pay them $100 and they will correctly shim the clutch, and thats it. AND its NOT a tcu issue, and it is 100% confirmed ok.

Too much oil?
ericem replied to mtbe's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
and u looked at both sides of the dipstick?? Mine on one side is more wet, then the other side. -
Hey, im kind of lazy to do the oil change a few times, and its still very very cold outside and its snowing like crazy. And it looks VERY VERY bad seeing a subaru barely make it up a hill with snow, and seeing a honda civic pass The whole way up the hill NO AWD, did even attempt, but if it was warm outside, it would work then, or if i was driving the car for over 30mins. Anyone got any suggestions on tranny fix stuff? Something they tried? Thanks.
