  1. Oh! yes cover the ALTERNATOR! i learned the hard way, i was working on my car outside in the rain, as soon as i start it, the alternator was dead, right before it rained, i just tested the voltage got 14.4, after it rained, and the entire engine bay was soaked(i didn't start it till morning) i start it, and i only got 12.1v out of the battery. and then decreased more and more, but got me to the auto parts store, and back to replace it.
  2. I rinse my engine very often with a garden hose, no issues at all, but when i used a power washer, water got trapped in the spark plug area, and made my engine run werid, and blew it out with a air compressor.
  3. Yup, mine was bad, i cnat find my before pictures, but the rust was in the well where the door is, and right at the bottom corner, and there rear, is was VERY well rusted, RIGHT through, not sandable. And i need new front fenders, now PS: the reason why i spent so much, was because i plan on keeping the car for a LONG time, and there is NO rust anywhere on the undercariiage, or anything, just detachables, make spots of rust(doors, fender, etc)
  4. To be honest, i don't know exactly what we are looking at :-p What is that ? what does it do?
  5. i did it :-p cost me $2000 to do the entire rear fender, with a OEM fender from subaru, spend $700 each side, and $600 for labour, LOTS of welding etc.
  6. Just get a PCV valve of here, very cheap! https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/oe_parts_cat.html
  7. Should be a 4 speed, with a 2.2, and ABS i think was a option in that year, or you needed the higher level model, let me find the website with all the specs.
  8. Maybe its a bad ground, or something is shorting out. And work done on the vehicle lately? electrical....
  9. Looks to be open, but if the both axles turn the same direction, i guess that rules out it is a LSD.
  10. You know what, i just figured something out, my speedo bounces between 10km at speeds from 0-70km if it is getting a signal thinking im deaccelerating and accelerating, it might be tricking the TCU, and it doesn't think im taking off, and gets mixed up. Ill test it by unplugging the speedo cable from the back, and see if it works then. That way it will only reliy on the 2 internal speed sensors in the tranmission.
  11. Would that same test appply with a automatic? Indicating the torque converter is bad ?
  12. Welcome to the forum, can u specify ur mileage? and engine size? but ill guess its a 2.5l right?
  13. should i try reseting my TCU for 48 hrs? According to my dealer a full reset takes 48 hrs.
  14. i decided not to care. Me and my dad will pull off the rear casing. Anything i need to look at in particular? Doesn't seem hard at all anyway. Then i can go to subaru and they can look at the rear case, and do whatever he said to do, then i come back, and install it and im Good to Go. Or if you think thats a bad idea. Ill go straight to subaru and pay them $100 and they will correctly shim the clutch, and thats it. AND its NOT a tcu issue, and it is 100% confirmed ok.
  15. lol, i need my AWD to be auto, because on asphalt i can easily get my front tires spinning with snow tires
  16. nope, subaru told me. And yes they were tested i believe, i haee something subaru gave me with a list of tests, ill scan it and post it here.
  17. ok..... No other suggestions, i really don't like the idea of going back :-\ These guys don't know what car they are looking at.
  18. and u looked at both sides of the dipstick?? Mine on one side is more wet, then the other side.
  19. Thanks, well i tried that, and it is DEFINITLY AWD the car, bind like crazy, and it IS AWD. Sensors were all checked, and subaru told me they are all running 100% like i said. And he said the fluid is getting trapped, and making the clutch slip. manual mode 1,2,3,D all act the exact same way.
  20. Hey, im kind of lazy to do the oil change a few times, and its still very very cold outside and its snowing like crazy. And it looks VERY VERY bad seeing a subaru barely make it up a hill with snow, and seeing a honda civic pass The whole way up the hill NO AWD, did even attempt, but if it was warm outside, it would work then, or if i was driving the car for over 30mins. Anyone got any suggestions on tranny fix stuff? Something they tried? Thanks.
