you know what 1600 lb's doesn't sound like much, i have heard of people towing over 3000lb's and the payload in the trunk is almost 800lb's so can nto see why the car would struggle towing 1600lb's. Just some suggestions, go to subaru's and get a subaru made hitch, not universal's(not a universal kind of guy :-p) and get use synthetic oil in the tranny, and differentials. Also, its a good investment to get a tranny oil cooler. Good luck.

I just slide it in neutral as well, some days, i can NOT feel the car idle, other days, you can feel it hard, but doesn't the torque converter have something to do with this? Does it dis, engadge or something when i stop? but then again, some days i can feel it idle in Park:-\ So maybe i should clean my MAF, with some Q-tips.

why? u really think that always solves a situation? If the tranny has been maintained well, and not drivin, like a maniac, and shifts smooth, and perfectly, why not get the 1 part of the transmission fixed, SURE he might find a used one, but what if it has another problem, there is no garrauntee the last person maintained it as well as he did. And people have been push there trannies to 300,000Miles, and still running fine. Just one suggestion, GET this tranny work, from a reputible Dealer ship, DO not go to a tranny shop.

correct, the auto's are all electronic, with a clutch, that either wears, or melts together, while the manual uses a viscous center diff i beleive its called which seems to be the most reliable. However, the auto seems to have a better AWD, guess because its less reliable:lol: But still VERY reliable, as long as you have 4 tires, with equal pressure, and change tranny fluid regularly, you should never have a problem with the autotragics, and torque bind, but still possible if drivesolenoid failure, and or worn clutch, from wear and tear. Don't seem to find any issues with the wheel bearings, mine lasted pretty long if you ask me, the front ones went, at around 255,000KM, then 1 rear one went, and one original is still going at 289,000KM. I did have torque bind, but ill bet if i did the tranny flush a LONG time ago, the clutches wouldn;t have melted, and given me torque bind(possibly my worn tires caused this issue). Engines, solid, dont need to go over that. Might have minor oil leaks, nothing major though. Overall these car's are very great, and safety wise(impact wise as well) they are great. The only thing i can think of with these cars that they need, is a Strut bar, however mine might have crack noises, because i have a wagon, so a sedan might not need stiffening, im not saying the car is a piece of nylon, its very solid, just when you get out of another vehicle in to this one, doesn;t seem AS solid, but overall they handle like a lotus, if you ask me(with a few mods of course ) Hope that gives u a idea of what you getting into with older legacy's, good luck with your choice.

Hey guys, well the knocking is getting louder and louder, and when it knocks, i throw it in neutral, and it goes away. The car is going to be the main car for a while, and im wondering, if there may be sudden failure? Doesn't seem to be slipping the torque converter, no performanc lost from what i can tell. But any thing i should look into, until i can bring in the car(still got 12,000KM of warrenty:lol:)

Ok, well i talked to my dad, and were going to see what we can do, my dads truck got into a accident, so we can't drop off the subaru at the tranny shop and let them look at it. Once my dad gets his truck, were going to see if the tranny shop can fix things CORRECTLY, including the AWD unit, if not, they better refund 80% of the 3000 or we will see them at small claims court.
