  1. Pay really close attention this time. Go to the offroad forum and click the thread "Frequently Asked Questions about how to upgrade, lift, shoe your Soob for wheeling. This will give you links, info, and website of people who make kits and accessories for your car. It really isn't rocket science. Now, maybe you can answer me a question. What are you going to be using your car for? Heavy duty trail rig? Daily driver? Weekend warrior?
  2. What 4" suspension kits are available? The standard 4" kit is a body lift. It is possible. They have been doing it for about 15+ yrs. The most you could probably get away with for suspension lift is about 2". Any more than that and you will have a steady diet of blown axles. You will find many posts/threads in the offroad forum as well as a Frequently Asked Questions thread that is stickied at the top of the forum. Hey Subarian, you seem like a pretty smart guy. Your posts are informative. If you aren't sure about something search our database it has alot of info.
  3. I'll have to chime in along with Zap. I have one. I have not used it. Tried to use it in my driveway once to check it out and to make sure it worked. Unfortunately, it wouldn't lift high enough to get my tire off the ground with my bumper. A winch weighs about the same, a come-a-long is easier to use and both are easier to store.
  4. Actually, to the Peugeot owner that still has metric wheels it is probably considered a good deal when you consider what replacement tires cost. The guy is obviously taking advantage of people(IMO).
  5. Those are just standard chrome acorn lug nuts. They will work for the stock Subaru's and will work for stell and the 14" alloys from Peugeot. They will not work on the 15" alloys though.
  6. Pretty clean. Why do people take pics with the headlights up? In the up position I think they look crappy. Yes, that is coming from the owner of an XT6.
  7. And it will look just as cheesy. I can accept any mod to a Subaru as long as a Subaru motor is still under the hood. My buddy Lumpycam did a V-6 swap and I have given him a hard time about it. It was built with mud racing in mind though. I believe that one was for advertising purposes. You'll note the absence of transfer case and drivelines. Only a rolling chassis and the name and phone number of the wrecking yard. BTW, just my opinion, others may and will vary.
  8. To answe the question first. The engine should be fine. To check for belt condition just remove the distributor cap. It has quit running so if the rotor doesn't turn the belt is broken or teeth have stripped off of it. The reality of the repair is that it isn't really that difficult to do. If you have a basic metric tool kit you coulfd do it. However, not everyone is mechanical so let your mechanic you know that it is about an hour or less for an experienced mechanic to do. Good luck! Why not try to convince me how they are protected without covers? Almost everyone who has done it has experienced premature tensioner failure.
  9. I've got the wiring adapter harness somewhere here.

  11. Yeah, I know, 50 lbs of rocks and 50lbs of feathers... You obviously have extensive experience with Subaru's that all the info that was shared with you is redundant. Never mind that I have built my own lifts and have some insight on the whole process to base my (genius) opinion on. (not sarcasm) Make your better mouse trap. I'm not saying it won't work or even be 16lbs lighter. BTW, the search button is located at the top of each page in the header. Find it, use it and maybe you can figure some of this out for yourself.
  12. Or at least watched a bit closer!
  13. If you have the answers then why are you asking the questions? If this is just a poser(your words) then why are you worried about 10-15 lbs. Yes, that's about the most you could possibly save in weight reduction. Besides, by mixing aluminum with steel bolts you will get a dissimilar metal corrosion. I would be far more worried about that then cracking on a street poser. If you ask the question you should be prepared to accept the answer. If you are not then do not ask the question. You have gotten responses from 3 lift kit manufacturers. Not to mention some who have built there own lifts and rigs.
  14. My lift is like no other, unfortunately. When I installed the rear axle I centered it in the wheelwell. I moved the front end forward 2 1/2". Mine is about a 4" body and 6" suspension in the rear and 10 " body lift in the front.
  15. See ongoing thread here, http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=43428
  16. 3 Impreza's, all run & drive '99RS '96 Brighton coupe '93 "L" sedan 3 Legacy wagons, all run & drive '92 "L" '92 Turbo '93 "L" 2 Brats, both run, only one drives(at the moment) '85 Beauty '86 Beast 1 '89 XT6, runs & drives 1 '86 GL10 sedan, runs and drives So, 10 run and 9 drive.
  17. It's been done. They are not designed for continued use(temporary spare!) A guy I know did it and they were crap. Always bending and were very narrow. Feel free to prove us wrong though. Also good luck finding someone who will mount them. The guy I know worked in a shop and mounted his own.
  18. That fits for Washington as well!! :-p Come north man. For cry from the mildness that is SD but you'll adapt and love it all the same. Besides, you'll need someone to wheel with when the Brat is done!!
  19. True Mick, but you took IFS/IRS one step further!!
  20. It will make for a good pick. Mine will be even taller when I get the new mods done. Avatar=support!!
  21. Properly prepared rigs don't need to put the hammer down. Nice work!
  22. Rooinater had some stuff on his site somewhere.
  23. I hope there is this much enthusiasm when we actually start the planning phases of WCSS8.
