Hello
Welcome to the Ultimate Subaru Madhouse Board! Always like to see a new Roo. Especially one with a lift, or some other custom work.

EA82 Power Lock / Window Question
How about, when you lock the car, do it from outside the car with the key. You will never lock your keys in that way.. get out, close the door.. lock the drivers door with the key.. it locks all the other ones automatically.. seems like quite a bit less work to me

Need some help on a tranny swap
ok.. tonight I pulled a 5 speed 4wd tranny out of an EA82T wagon. I got it out, but it did not go as well as it could have. I have to pull another one tomorrow or friday, then install one either the same or following day. I know what has to be disconnected.. the problem I am having is that the lowering of the trans to the ground was.... rocky at best. Finding the right balance was impossible.. ended up using the jack and a couple of ropes secured to various places on the car to lower it down.. even that did not go so well.. I have a 3 ton floor jack with a 21 inch lift, but a rather small cup. Does anyone with experience have any suggestions that might make this next pull less ... frightening? And even more worrisome, does any one have suggestions on getting the damn thing back in to the car by myself with only my floorjack and some ropes? Also.. I am doing this singlehandedly...(well, I have both of my hands, but no others to help)

boost controll install?
There is a boost control of sorts. its called a fuel cutoff.. after so many seconds of boost exceding 9-10psi, your fuel system shuts down for a second. On the 85-86 models, theres a hose/solenoid combo that you can unplug to disable the fuel cutoff, but not on 87+

boost controll install?
On an 87, theres no solenoid to disconnect. the MBC goes in line on the hose coming off the wastegate.

Balancing Subaru and life... (SHE SAID YES!!)
Its tough, and depends a lot on your other half.. mine really actively dislikes my car habit, so that makes it even harder.. just do the best you can

boost controll install?
what year is your car? what solenoid are you referring to? Is it safe to assume you are refering to an EA82T? or is it something else?

Clicking Axle: Worry Or Not?
They will click for a long time before they break. New is better than the average reman.. However I have heard very good things about www.cvaxles.com You got a couple of years out of a used axle.. thats not bad.. I got 8 months out of a nice fresh reman I just had to replace. Next time they offer to toal your car like that, let them.. then take the cash and buy it back for $25 bucks and fix it.. you will still have cash in your pocket

ea82 auto motor vs. stick (swap)
You will have to take the flywheel from the 87 and pput it on the 91 motor.. will probably have to use the 87 intake manifold as well, as the plugs for the wiring harness are probably different.(all of this assuming both are SPFI cars.)

Gear Oil for 4WD Dual Range?
i just checked my Owners manual(1988) and it says to use 80W90 if you experience subzeo temps, 90 otherwise.. But given your location, you probably get cold enough to justify the 80W90.

Fuel cutoff bypass for hot wire MPFI
Skip's been working on something for a while.. However, i run mine at 11-12 psi and have yet to have any problem with fuel cut.. I just got my intercooler last night, so boost may go a little higher.

EA82T compression ratio options?
The owners manual says "87 octane or greater".. but I wouldn't run 87 in mine.. it only get 93
-
EA82T compression ratio options?
Why not use the 8.5:1 Carb stuff?.. Jst looked again at your post.. you have an 89 FSM.. that wouldn't have carb stuff in it BTW.. even in stock form.. no turbo car I have ever owned runs worth a damn on 87.

Gear Oil for 4WD Dual Range?
My 88 owners manual says 80W90 - straight 90 depending on climate conditions.. I'll get the exact ranges in just a little while.

Is anyone playing with SPFI on the EA81's
What he said, except that if the setup you have (wiring harness, ECU) are from an 87+, you will need an 87 + distributor

New vs. old: An interesting observation
calebz replied to viceversa's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIts all about location. Take a 20 minute drive around Seattle or Denver and you will probably rethink that statement. SUbarus just aren't popular or don't last in some parts of the country.. hell its even hard to find legacy parts in most of the yards around here.. Subarus have just never been big sellers around dallas apparently..OTOH when I lived in WA, at athe last house we had there, there were probably 10 people within 5 blocks that had EA81 and EA82 soobs that were in great shape.. hell, I had 3-4 myself!
