  1. Holy Crap!! Is that a magical XT6 flywheel? Mine weighed in a just over 18 pounds EA82 (4WD and all turbo) Weighs in around 24 pounds Hahah.. I suppose I should read the whole thread before posting
  2. Sounds like its time to learn to turn a wrench. The seals and timing belts (notice the plural usage as there are two) are simply part of regular maintenance. THose belts are only deigned to last 55k New motor? nah.. unless it is giving you problems, drive the piss out of it until it goes boom. The belts and seals are reasonably easy to replace. Doing the waterpump at the same time would be a smart thing as well. All told, belts, seals and water pump will run you maybe $150 for parts. With the right tools and decent manual, anyone with halfway stable motor control and the ability to follow directions can do it in a weekend. Then, if you leave the belt convers off, with the experience you gain, you will have it done in less than two hours next time:D
  3. Sounds like you have it under control. I have done two of these on EA82s and both times, it was just a matter of getting the right shims in the right places.
  4. Thanks for showing up. You are one of the ones I was looking for It could still materialize.. I do this every year in hopes that more people show interest in the area.
  5. Visual comparison with my 87.5 NA XT motor tells me that the wiring harness more closely resembles the wiring in my 87 wagon than the wiring on the 88 manifold I have here.
  6. None of thoe sensors in your pics are the correct one. Number 3 is the closest though. When staning in front of the car, look at #3, then move your gaze a bit to the left. As you get closer to the turbo, you will see one sensor mounted in the block (knock sensor) and another mounted to the intake manifold in the same general area. That is the CTS. PS. the sensor in pic 3 is the fast idle solenoid that stops your car fromcrapping out when the AC is turned on.
  7. If your splicing was done right, it shouoldn't be an issue. if you look up under the housing on the disty, you will see a phillips head screw. unscrew that and the whole pigtail pops out, to be replaced by the one with the correct connector. interchangeability at its finest.
  8. I have heard that, but I have had an 87 an 88 and an 89 ECU in the wagon and it has worked fine:confused:
  9. It will run, but I wouldn't qualify it as running fine. In my experience, it runs downright crappy
  10. Disty - yes - 87+ MAF - Probably between MPFINA and MPFIT - not SPFI though ECU - Probably between MPFINA and MPFIT - not SPFI though PS.. still looking for that spare ECU for you.
  11. I'll test one or all for you. MPFI turbo car with no known ECU related issues. PM if interested. I think I have a spare here as well.. If you want, I can find it, test it and send it off to you.
  12. Aftermarket doesn't count? In that case, I have about -$1000 into mine Thats right. You take the settlement from my valet wrecked wagon, subtract just the 'make it go' and the body of the current wagon, and I'm still a grand ahead.. Hmm.. Maybe if I put it to my wife that way, she won;t *************** when I ordrer my new injectors:) PS.. throw in mods and it starts to get a little ugly
  13. Guess not. I have tried this about once a year since I moved here. I figured this time I have a bunch of misc parts, a three car garage and every tool available to fix nearly anything on a soob, that some might be interested. I know there are more people in the DFW area on the board. Oh well. Its not WA, thats for sure. It seems like the last week I was getting my stuff together to move down here, there was a constant stream of Board members in and out of my garage. Picking stuff up, bringing me stuff (cars, parts, you name it). I know a couple people here. Have made a few really good friends with soobs. But the ones that are members here rarely post. And the others are NASIOC people that have never even been to the USMB I was aiming for the 5-6 other people that I know are in the area, but haven't met.
  14. That sounds like the same I got. Big, all metal bugger. Works great. Was ~$140 shipped overnight.
  15. The pic earlier in this thread has PVC going from the TB to the IC. It works, but only as a temporary measure. It doesn't seem to handle the heat well. This is my current setup.
  16. Small difference in blocks. The turbo block has a hole in it for the PCV, whereas the carb and spfi blocks do not. Turbo also has an oil seperator plate that the other don't Overall, little things.
  17. Isn't this what the feedback function is for?
  18. WRX wheels would fit your needs well. I paid $175 for my current set.. That was with good tires, plus a brand new 5th wheel for a spare
  19. Anyone happen to know what the flow rate is on the 280 NA injectors?
  20. Yup, those are controls for the trip computer in the 88+ GL-10. THe display is where the clock goes on other EA82 subarus.
