  1. Its probably lolligagging because the stock turbo doesn't do anything above 13.5 psi very well.. Never heard of one going to 18. Are you still running the stocker?
  2. Seeing how most of the L-series soobs didn't come with a clutch safety switch, I simply bypassed the Neutral safety switch on the autos wiring bundle..
  3. If the fuel pump is coming on, the ECU is doing something.. Is the light on the front of the ECU doing anything at all. I agree that perhaps something has been knocked loose during the tranny swap, but I hesitate to blame the ECU. Just for the heck of it, check your T-belts. (pop the dist cap and crank over.. see if the rotor turns.. that will help determinne the drivers T-belt at least) Maybe something easy like a blown fuse/fusible link?
  4. Styles.. you and tex are making me nervous as hell.. Just about to get my motor together.. Gonna die if it blows up.
  5. Yup.. that pic is of a Rex.. also called the Sherpa, also called the 600, also called the Yunque
  6. could be the o2 sensor I suppose $300 is not bad at all if its running / driving / tagged For the best ownership experience, I would suggest doing some major maintenence right from the get go. Timing belts water pump radiator hoses belts radiator flush/repair/replace reseal cams/crank/oil pump
  7. 10 seconds is about right... If you turn the boost waaaayyy up, your car will last about 10 seconds:)
  8. Mine has a rear sway bar .. and its a factory AT car.. remember?:-p
  9. No real idea what its worth over there.. I paid $100 for my first one. Nice looking wagon though.
  10. I have had 2 88 GL-10 turbos.. one was an auto.. Someone around seattle is still rollin that tranny in a different car I believe My 87 GL-10 turbo was also an auto.. that tranny is probably still working as well.. Last time I heard it was. I didn't want it.. did the 5 speed swap
  11. Tell him to send It my way and I will return it as good as new.. or better depending on what sort of parts I have laying around.
  12. As long as they aren't big beastly bastards, the cracks between the valves are normal and shouldn't be sweated.. Design flaw, but not a detrimental one. PS.. I have one EA82 carb head with 0.. thats right 0 cracks.. I am saving it for the smithsonian as I believe it to be the last one in existance PSS.. shoot me a PM about the legacy heads.
  13. Ok.. I suppose thats possible. The 4 I have in my garage are all the same. All the ones I have pulled from the yard Have been the same as well.
  14. Since the car is an EA82, they BFHing and sawzalling will be subsatantially less that you boys' EA81 cars.
  15. Yup I have used junkyard distributors with pretty good success. Any 87+ SPFI or MPFI Turbo distributor should work. I know you say there are 2 of them, but I have only ever seen one for the optical type used in 87 - 94 SPFI.. Careful though, the wiring pigtail for 88 and up is different from the 87. Don't let that dissuade you however, as the wiring pigtails can be removed and swapped in about 2 minutes. PS its possible the 2nd distributor listed for the 87 is the carb distributor with the vacuum advance..
  16. Cna't remember what size it was, but what I usually do is pop one of the screws out from inside the disty, or theone that holds the wiring pigtail down.. they are the same size as the one that holds the rotor. I then take them to the hardware or autoparts store and get a matching one or 5
  17. No pics? instead of using cardomain, try the USMB gallery.. direct linking and no popups
  18. 85-86 D/R wagons are the only one I KNOW they came on. when cranked all the way up, the struts are about the same length as the later single position 4wd struts. Is it possible someone replaced the front struts on your car and accidentally used the 2wd sedan struts.. or maybe even XT struts, which are even lower.?
  19. Sorry.. don't have any info on the company that makes them. Don't have the box anymore and don't remember who the maker was. They sell them on Ebay.. A search for hoodscoops there found about 30 of the same type about a week ago.
  20. Not sure exactly what you mean by that, but pullung a soob tranny is like pulling a RWD tranny with the exception of having to disconnect the front axles If you are doing the clutch, IMO, its easier to pull the motor than the tranny
  21. So how does that work on the legacy twin Turbo? IIRC, they aren't sequential
  22. Try this. It isn't the FSM, but it has the ER27 timing belt procedure. http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/1c/5d/d5/0900823d801c5dd5.jsp BTW, I have the EA82 FSM PDF. I don't know where it was hosted, but I can find a way to get it to you if you have messenger or something.
  23. The block I am pulling the heads of has a not so great crank, but the pistons should be fine.. Been driving the motor for a long time. Never did anything to make me think otherwise. They can be yours if you can be a little patient.
  24. Gee, good thing he is asking about his 87 and not your 85. There sure as heck is a release on an 87.
