Subaru Updated Their JDM Website
PetterFan replied to erik litchy's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI am a fan of the WRX and STi look for the center grill, but I don't think that the new center grill is all that bad. It reminds me of the front nose cone that BMW Williams used at the beginning of the F1 season in 2004. Just my opinion. http://www.amobile.ru/f1/2004/presentations/img/williams1.jpg

495HP Aussie Brumby (Brat)
I have never seen a turbo through the hood. I have seen blowers through the top of hoods, but never a turbo. I really like the engine, but the car looks ricey to me.

I bought myself a newer Subaru
PetterFan replied to syphon's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYou got a great deal on that auto!! How did you or the previous owner get the engine bay so clean? I would really like to find a legacy in that kind of condition for that price.

battery draining - noobi and new car
PetterFan replied to paul-n's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXChech out that alternator. I know that most battery drainage problems are related to alternators. I had the same problem with an ATV of mine.

RallyX school course??
Niki Grist has a really good rally school that has produced a couple of outstanding driver in the JWRC and other forms of Rally. There are a few other good rally schools, but I haven't seen any in the US. They are pretty expensive too.

Weight Stripping
I like the idea of a lightweight flywheel. It will increase hp and torque, but make driving throug a parking lot a pain in the butt. I have also heard of a lightweight battery, but I don't know about those.

STi Convertible?
PetterFan replied to Phizinza's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXGreat work in the photo shop area. The back of the car looks a little empty don't you think. It needs some roll bars like in the A/C 427 Shelby Cobra.

I killed my beast
Next time you decide to jump, put a sand bag or two in the rear. Should prevent a nose-breaking landing.

PetterFan replied to PetterFan's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWhat are the disadvantages to drilled rotars, and why would you recomend neither for a street car? Thanks.- bad turbo! goto your room!
That's the way our flag should be. PEACE MAN!!- Cleaning the Engine compartment, where to start?
PetterFan replied to a post in a topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWhen I clean my engine, I drive the car around to get it nice and hot. I then use an Orange degreaser and a rag I don't care about any more to clean the engine. Afterwords, I use a liquid ArmorAll spray to make the engine shine. It works pretty well for me, and I have never had any problems with this method.- Hood scoops on Outbacks
PetterFan replied to Geoff4130's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI work at a carwash and we wash cars with hood scoops all the time. Some of my co-workers have been known to spray a high pressure washer directly into the scoop, and we have had no complaints about any sort problems related to this.- Brakes on SVX
Would you recomend drilled, slotted, or both for the brake rotars? I would think both, but don't know if there are any disadvantages to either of them. Thanks.- My Petter Solberg
PetterFan replied to subaru lover's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIs the Petter Solberg edition the same as the WR1 edition that was made to celebrate the 2003 drivers title won by Petter. Here are the specs on the WR1. 320 hp 310 ft/lbs torque 0-60: 4.3 0-100: 10.6 Top end: 155 MPH (248 KM/H) It also has a stainless steel mesh grill, a lowered ride height (25mm), and 18-inch 7-spoke rims with Pirelli PZero tires. Other than that (hehe) it is the same as the American STi.- svx?
I agree completely. The 1992 was the "fastest" because it didn't have the top end governer. The later models are almost the exact same car. The only possible advantage to getting a later model SVX would be lower miles.- Subaru handbrakes...
PetterFan replied to Subaru_dude's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI know that the older gen. Legacys have the E brake in the back. Thanks Steve!!- WRX reliability
PetterFan replied to rem14's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI know that Consumer Reports rated both the WRX and the STi very high in reliability. And most Japanses cars are known for their endurance and reliability.- Just got a 99' Legacy 5 speed selling my SVX
PetterFan replied to vollball81's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXHave you had any trouble with the 4EAT tranny or the wheel bearings? I know that both are chronic problems, and with the wheel bearings, if not properly replaced, the housing can be deformed. How many miles? Thanks.- Lifted SVX
I am starting to lean towards lowering the SVX. It is much cheaper, and I think that an SVX would look odd lifted. The SVX really is a sport touring car and it is so heavy, that it would get stuck in the mud pretty easily.- Lifting an SVX
PetterFan replied to PetterFan's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWell, after shopping around, I have found that it is much easier and cheaper to lower an SVX. I think that lowering the SVX would be a much better decision because it is really a sport touring car. I am gonna have to stay on the road for now.- Lifting an SVX
PetterFan replied to PetterFan's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWell, I'm not sure if I want to lift it or lower it. I love to offroad, but the SVX is more of a "sports car". I have never seen a lifted SVX, and am not sure about what I want to do. I am torn between my love for SVX's and offroading. - Brakes on SVX
