  1. I've had an issue where one of the tabs didn't get seated into the plug well and that caused a light to be out... so if you're getting voltage to it make sure it's lining up right... --Spiffy
  2. or a garden weed puller with the little forked tip... but a screwdriver works good, I have a huge one that I use so I don't poke little holes in anything... and GD is right, it's pretty easy... unscrew the 3 or so armrest screws, the door handle plastic, and then pop out the clips around the edges... have the window down and the panel will lift right up... then unplug the connectors to the power window switch before you yank the panel too far from the door... it'll be much easier to work with the switch panel with the entire door panel off... --Spiffy
  3. yes, look up HHO conversions... it's been in the news every time there's a "gas crisis" since the 70's, maybe earlier... if it was a viable and reliable technology all the cars would already be running it... that's the first sign it's a scam... --Spiffy
  4. ditto... I've also never actually seen what's behind the little square... I always thought it was some kind of adjustment, or a way to lower the spare from under the car (like with toyota trucks)... weird that they let you keep the little eyelet tie-down... too bad they're not making them in indiana... america is pricing itself out of nearly every market... --Spiffy
  5. I've heard the thickness of the steel isn't as much as a normal rim... so I wouldn't really trust it... after all, they made it to be light and temporary... --Spiffy
  6. hook in the trunk? the only one I can think of is the one that hold up the spare tire cover that hooks on the top of the rear door sill... I thought they used the hooks under the bumper to secure them during shipment... although I don't know what's behind the small square hole... is it threads for a hook? --Spiffy
  7. odd that they don't have them listed under 1986 Brat GL or 1982 GL... aren't they the same? --Spiffy
  8. omg, that new kit is sexy hawt! time to bust open the piggy bank and beg the better-half for some play money... all that fancy hardware included? so what else is needed for the kit besides a steering shaft extension? I've heard that there is some tweaking to the shifter linkage required... --Spiffy
  9. that rocks! figures that the synchro wasn't the only cool off-road volkswagon... --Spiffy
  10. probably should go in one of the vendor forums... *shrug* good to know they're so nice... I've been trying to get some good subaru parts websites bookmarked at home so I'll have to make sure this one is in there... --Spiffy
  11. wow, that IS super clean! especially for being on the east coast... so... what's wrong with it? (: --Spiffy
  12. that south fork peak picture is awesome... the wife and I almost went out to goat mt yesterday as well... the grandparents were babysitting and we had some time... we decided to use it to relax and enjoy the quiet instead... --Spiffy
  13. as four-fleet-feet posted, the instructions are also here: http://www.cars101.com/subaru/keyless.html#code%20alarm --Spiffy
  14. here it is: http://www.cars101.com/subaru/360.html --Spiffy
  15. those really fill the wheel wells nicely... --Spiffy
  16. SubaruJunkie is right, you just have to tear into it and it'll just flow... your kitchen table will look something like this: that was when I did the hitachi on my '82... --spiffy
  17. ah, up by seattle... too far for me, but plenty of other people in the area... I'm sure you'd pay more than the crusher so I'd think they would hold it for you for a few days... --Spiffy
  18. it's a big state, so a more specific location would be helpful... it's 254 miles between vancouver and bellingham... there's enough people up here I'm sure it'll be easy to find space to store your toy... --Spiffy
  19. replacement? why would you do that? you just got through the break-in period... you can get another 200k out of it easy... (: --Spiffy
  20. if nothing happens when you press the programming button under the dash then either that's not the right button or something is disconnected somewhere... my guess is that it's not the right button since you say you have to press it to start the car... the plastic rings on those are really thin and break easily... my button was tucked under the dash in the rest of the wiring... although I didn't have a fake/alarm button in its place like you do... I would check under the dash on the left side of the column and try to locate another red button... --Spiffy
  21. it was almost as bad as the acting... --Spiffy
  22. +1 on that! you can try to be nice about it for hours, or you can just baby-shake it until you hit the magic spot... but again, when I did it I was putting the engine in, not the tranny, and it was probably a lot easier to manhandle it from the engine compartment than to do it from under the car... I also used one of those cheap plastic alignment tools though... --spiffy
  23. nice 3-eyed 80/81 wagon... somebody should save that from the crusher... --Spiffy
  24. so you can't close the door because the latch is locked closed? usually you can just take a screwdriver and force the mechanism on the outside of the door to open up... but as GD says you may have to pull off the door panel and mess with the internals if something is jammed up in there... --Spiffy
