  1. pretty sure the struts aren't going to fit, and as yes it's a sacrilege to do such things to the SVX. If you want an offroad car....get something else. The SVX is a high speed cruiser.
  2. http://www.main.experiencetherave.com:8080/subaru/images/injectors/DCP_2477.JPG
  3. Those diagrams should give you an idea of how things are layed out. The pin numbering may be different, but it'll give you an idea on where to look. Just pull the connector off the coolant temp sensor, the ECU will see that as a fault, and turn the fans on. If they don't both turn on, you've got a wiring issue somewhere from the ECU to the fans. First check that the signal is being sent from the ECU to both fan relays. Once you've determined that, and swapped relays between the two fans, to make sure the relays are good.....then you'll need to trace your wiring after the relay.
  4. The rear springs on the 90-91 were tapered. The ride height issues between the 90-91's and the 92-94's are mainly an issue when going to kyb struts. I'm not sure why, but it's usually when people go from the stock struts to kyb, the front raises. But that's a mute point since you picked up the 95's. You should remove the a/s computer. That will disable everything. It's under the seat. Look at figure 67-3 http://www.surrealmirage.com/subaru/files/swap/elect_unit_loc/6-3_electrical_unit_location06.jpg
  5. Remember the 90-91 rear strut top mounts are different from the 92-94 MY's. Same goes for the rear springs.
  6. Also there is a bleed screw on the passenger side of the radiator to get all the air out of the cooling system.
  7. Yeah the model year legacies & imprezas you listed have compatible strut top mounts. As for the outback, if you get the whole strut, spring & top, you should be good to swap it on.
  8. Replace the thermostat with an OEM subaru thermostat. Aftermarket t-stats don't work right in subies. There's several threads if you want to search.
  9. So the spring pin is broken? There's actually two spring pins. A larger one, and smaller one that goes through the center of the larger one.
  10. Hey Dave, Unfortunately, we don't get the twin turbo models in the states. So I'm not sure how much good we'll be. Try clearing the codes, pull the EGI/TCU fuse for 30 min. Drive the car, and then check the codes again, once the light goes on and you have problems. May want to also post over on www.bbs.legacycentral.org
  11. The filter is in the engine bay right next to the driver's side strut tower. Fuel pump is in the tank. The connector to unplug the pump is under the passenger rear seat. There's usually black foam over it. You can unplug this connector, and try and start the car to relieve the pressure, or just leave it sit overnight.
  12. The spring helps center the shifter. The only spring pin I know of connects the joint piece to the rod in the tranny, but I don't see how this has anything to do with the dangling spring?
  13. It's where the centering spring goes. You should be able to see it in the pics.
  14. I've got a very slow leak from the driver's side axle stub of the rear diff. I've looked through the FSM, and have the procedure on changing the seal, but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or tips. I know the LSD stubs are different then the normal stubs, and I think need a puller. So like I said....any suggestions would be helpful. TIA.
  15. Yeah it's traction control system. What exactly it does.....not sure.
  16. Yeah, start with the relay....check out this thread for wiring info. The 92 should be the same as the 91 for wiring. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=34140 More then likely, you need to add refridgerant.....that's the reason it's not staying cool.
  17. Don't worry about it. If it's working.....leave it alone.
  18. The ECU turns the fans on. If you put 12v on pin 1, and pin 2 to ground.....and the fans work, the relay is good. I would verify the wiring going to the relay. You can find wiring diagrams here http://www.main.experiencetherave.com:8080/subaru_manual_scans/1992_FSM_(Engine_%26_Electrical)/
  19. Yup, it's the centering spring. You can see sort of where it goes in these pics http://www.surrealmirage.com/subaru/images/swap/15/default.htm
  20. See, that's the issue......it's hard to say how much oil or even refrigerant to put in. The way shops typically do it, is add refrigerant until the pressures look good, and temps blowing out of the vents is good. It's not really a super scientific way.
  21. Yeah....the other thing you can do is mount the newer electronic VSS supposedly on the older transmissions. You could then feed that signal to the ECU, however you're back to square one with reading your speed on the dash.
  22. In 96 they changed the tranny, so the electronics are different.....connector is different. You can use a newer tranny, you'd just have to match up the wiring and switch connectors. The 92-94 AWD autos had a 3.90 final drive ratio, I don't know what the 95 had. The 90-91 AWD autos had a 4.111 final drive ratio. So if you use one of those, you need to switch out the rear end so that it has the same final drive ratio. So that leaves you pretty much with the 92-94 AWD AT legacy trannies as plug & play, but others could be used with more effort.
  23. red & blue fittings are r134a.....and if you have r134a stickers, then there's a 99.9999% chance you have r134a in there. Buy a can that has oil & refrigerant in it. Oil should be esther oil.
