  1. Yes I believe that is what they are referring to by the mode door motor
  2. I haven't run into this on the 2nd gen legacies, but it may be similar to the issue I link to here http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=91468
  3. Problem & fix can be found here http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=1142

  5. This is the part # for the power steering & alternator belt is 809218370 The water pump is driven off the timing belt The other belt drives the AC compressor, that part # is 73013AA000 I'd agree with Nipper though, just go to the autoparts store. Gates belts are good.
  6. I drove an 08 Outback rental car and wasn't impressed with the power. The auto trans wasn't overly great, but I wasn't expecting leaps and bounds. However I drove my aunt's 08 Legacy SE, and that car seemed to have more power, and the trans seemed a little more responsive. Personally, I think the issue with Subarus' and their AT is the power, or lack of power. With more power, either the flat six or turbo models, you tend not to have hunting issues as much. My ex had an 06 LL Bean Outback with the six, and it drove pretty well, however it was the 5EAT, not the 4EAT. So I don't know. I think the issue is a combination of things.
  7. I'd start at the relays and see if your getting the signal from the stalk telling the relays the high beams should be on. By the way, what model & year?
  8. If you don't have the charcoal canister, or want one, you can put a jumper hose from the vent line coming to the tank to the line going to the canister purge solenoid. This will just allow the vapors to be drawn into the manifold. What the charcoal canister provides that the above solution won't is that the charcoal canister absorbs the vapors while the car sits, acting kind of like a storage tank and then vents them to the manifold when the canister purge solenoid opens. Granted, that's probably over simplified, but the jist of it. Josh
  9. Welcome to the board. I'm going to move your thread to the old gen side as the Loyale is predominently an older generation car. Josh
  10. You should notice if the AC clutch is engaged or not. If the clutch is not engaged, the pulley part will spin and the very front part won't. With the clutch engaged, both parts spin. You can test this by having someone else press the AC button, and watch the AC compressor pulley. Even if you don't know exactly what is what, you'll see something start and stop spinning. If nothing changes when the AC button is depressed, you probably have an electrical issue.
  11. Are you talking about the charcoal canister? On the newer cars they moved them to the rear of the car.
  12. I'm assuming you're talking about the transmission. Proper spelling/grammar helps... As for the splash plate. If you can reach it with a 10mm ratcheting wrench, you may be able to change the plate without removing the engine or disconnecting the trans. You may have to jack the engine up a little to give you some room to work. Josh
  13. Yeah I believe it will work. I'm not sure if the plugs are the same, but you can probably find a harness online to replace the newer stock harness and merge it with one of the adapter harnesses for the 94 Legacy. Or you could maybe find a harness at a junkyard and snip it out.
  14. I've been trying to get manual belts for a long while. The stupid 90-91 tan interior is what foils me every time....
  15. After nearly four months of the car being down, I finally got everything finished up this past weekend. I'm real happy with how everything turned out and the fitment. I'm getting much better flows through the system compared with the old setup. Teaser pic All pics here http://www.main.experiencetherave.com/subaru/images/awicradiator In addition I remounted the Hella Supertones since I had to move them when I installed the air-to-water intercooler. I fabbed up a bracket under the area where the ABS pump goes. Here's the old location http://www.main.experiencetherave.com/subaru/images/hellahorns.jpg New location http://www.main.experiencetherave.com/subaru/images/hellasupertones/ Josh
  16. The main issue is the automatic seat belts. Here's some pics of them in my Legacy http://www.main.experiencetherave.com/subaru/images/legacywrxseats/ The ride height was actually very similar if not the same. The seats are a little wider. If I didn't have the auto belts, they'd be in there.
  17. Here's a picture of the ECU & the connectors under the driver's dash I also have instructions to read codes on my site. They're also in the FAQ sticky at the top of this thread too. www.surrealmirage.com/subaru/engine.html Josh
  18. Just turning and tightening them. It's not too hard. But the real issue is how did they get loose in the first place.....this may point to a bearing issue.
  19. If it's not the cv joint, the bearing caps may be loose allowing play in the transmission.
  20. I have not heard about this, but you may ask over on www.legacygt.com/forums They may know for sure whether this works.
  21. Enjoy Colorado. I think I'd probably rather be there then Houston....but this is where the job is BTW, I was up in PA this past weekend, and yeah there are subarus EVERYWHERE. I was amazed how many of the new Legacies there were. I think between my three uncles/aunts & their kids, they have six subarus .
  22. Is the play in the cv axle joint or in the axle stub?
