The Cheesemobile Lives!!!!
That looks like the file is internal to your computer, you need to post it to a web site, so it can be viewed over the internet. I believe you can put them in the USMB Photo Gallery, but I'm not sure how to since I have my own web site to post pictures on.

i need your opinion
I guess I need to know who name is on the title of the vehicle. Does the car belong to you, or is your dad just letting you drive it. If it belongs to you Dad, that any discussion is a mute point.

EJ18 heads on to an EJ22? Anyone done it?
Dr. RX replied to Matty B's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI don't know why they wouldn't, they are basically the same engine. I know people who have installed EJ22s into a car that had an EJ18 in it, they had to use the EJ18 intake manifold, so I know there is no difference there. Why do you feel that the EJ18 heads will give you high compression? Does it have fewer cc's (in the compustion camber area of the head) then the EJ22 heads? Or is it the pistions that are giving teh EJ18 higher compression?

Vicious LSD 3.9 Rear end/EA82 installation
The 3.70 LSD will be a lot easier to find (all RXs, optional on most turbo power GLs and GL-10s, standard on 89 GL-10) then the 3.90 VLSD, the VLSD was only on one car for one year and only on the sedans, 91 Legacy SS Turbo. I've heard that there are SVXs out there with VLSDs in them, but I've never seen one, doesn't mean that they don't exist, just that I have never seen one..

Vicious LSD 3.9 Rear end/EA82 installation
I had one (3.9 VLSD) in my 86 GL-10 Turbo Sedan, I also installed a D/R out of a N/A so I needed the 3.9. I only drove it on the street, but the person that I got it from, who does some serious off roading, tried it in a car, but didn't like it, so he went to a clutch type LSD. I tend to agree that the VLSD is for road cars, not off roaders.

Legacy Turbo LSD Fluid Q
Dr. RX replied to carfreak85's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe viscous coupler does not use the diff oil for fiction, the coupler has a viscous fluid sealed in it. Use any 75/90W oil, but I understand that synthetic is better, so maybe try Redline Shockproof.

2005 RallyCross final standings from ORG
Heck, maybe if James Rachner had raced more, he'd have been at the top of his class. Only one race, and he got 1st place in that one.

Question for Corky or Tex about rear e brake
True, the calipers are the same, but the disc is larger on the XT6, which is why the backing plate is different, and that is where the caliper bolts to. But to answer your question, yes, it should work on a 5 bolt conversion.

greetings from sunny south africa
Racing background, please elaborate. I live in the USA, Washington State, in a town called Sammamish, just east of Seattle. I high school, there was an exchange student from South Africa, her name was Joan Clote (can't remember if that is the correct spelling), any way, she was my senior prom date.

Well with a nickname like that, I was hoping you were. So, what happened to the first Subie? I detect something not good with your "sniff" comment.

The annual Hatch Patrol Christmas tree run
If I came out with you guys, the DCCD wouldn't get into the car. Besides, I wouldn't want another incident like last year to happen to my car again.

Proof of the Elusive Subaru Diesel!
Western had a grant from Subaru to design a new engine, I have seen the prototypes, the engine which Subaru put into production from this grant work was the EJ SOHC series engine (89-94 series). There has been a close working relationship between Western and Subaru. When Dr. Seals officially retired (he still hangs around the shop) he was working on a V12 engine that one half was N/A and the only turbocharged, the engine would run on the N/A half of the engine until extra power was needed, then the turbo side would cut in. Oh yea, the engine was mostly composite.

The annual Hatch Patrol Christmas tree run
Sorry, won't make it this year, the ride goes into the garage (mine) to get the DCCD installed.

airbag deployment
Dr. RX replied to cowboyFunkie's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSo, I can't believe that you didn't say anything about the windshield. On all Subarus that I have seen with air bags that had deployed, the passenger side air bag usually takes out the windshield too. It takes a special torx with a hole in the center to remove the bolts that hold the air bags in place. Keith, did you read the fix for the air bag problem? They just remove the front tow hooks, both my 95 Legacy wagons still have the tow hooks there.

Centerforce will make us a clutch!
I love CenterForce Clutches, I have one in my WRX, I was wanting to put one in my RX when I had it, but they didn' show an application. Good luck, they are definately worth the cost.

Rear differential failures
Dr. RX replied to Marty's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXCan't really say much about 2000 model year or newer, but the older ones are bullet proof, I have seen people break axles 4wheeling, but I have never heard of any of them breaking. Do you know if they are R80 or R60 (I think those are the correct numbers, maybe R180 and R160)?

Purge Air from Radiator
Dr. RX replied to YFC's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI use an old drag racing trick, air usually gets trapped at the thermostat, on most of the thermostats I have installed in EJ series engines, there is a check flow valve (a wierd looking thing at the top of the thermostat throught a hole). The old drag racing trick is to drill small holes at the top of the thermostat, this allows the air to pass through, what I do is just cut the flow valve off, leaving the hole it goes through. This allows the trapped air to pass through even if the thermostat is closed. Make sure that you install the thermostat with the hole pointing up.

Impreza 2.0 turbo RS
Dr. RX replied to Scoob_i_do's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIn all my reading on the Impreza Turbos, I have never come across one with a RS under the taillights. I do know that the first year, coded 'A', are the least reliable of all the Turbo Imprezas (WRX), they had major teething problems with the first production year. I'm not sure about the 93 models (code 'A'), but in 94 (code 'B') they came out with a type RA, and there is a decal under the JDM driver side taillight that states, "Type RA".

So sedans ARE lighter!
Here is what the 86 FSM says about the weights. RX Sedan USA model 2,520 pounds 3DR 4WD Turbo (pre RX) 2,545 pounds I had one of these 3drs, mine actually had a VIN that worked out to be a RX, they had everything the Sedan RX had in them.
