  1. You might be looking for a new engine. Or at least a major tear-down. Never use crap like that in a Subaru, it gums up the whole works. You need to ask questions before doing something you are not sure about. Thats why we are here, to help. We have a few members in your area, I think one of them is a qualified mechanic (Hondasucks).
  2. If we knew your location, someone close by might be able to stop in and take a look at it. If it was a HG, it would overheat and smoke. You need to pinpoint the leak before digging into the HG's.
  3. I look forward to it all year. I (and friends) work hard getting my cars ready for the Show. Maybe if we pick 2 locations, North and South, and alternate every year things would be easier to organize? Thurston ORV Park for the North. Hood River for the South.
  4. How about replacing both those alternator wires. Dont think it should be that hard to do.
  5. Wont find much in this forum, you need to look in Retrofitting. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=88249&highlight=TD04
  6. It was sometimes called a passing light. Its in the center of the grill and behind a motorized door with the Subaru emblem. Came on 82's. http://www.indysworld.com/80s/general/literature/brochures/1980-colors.jpg
  7. Sounds like the damage has already been done, by whoever installed the plugs before. The only cause for this issue is the plug was cross threaded, like you suspected. You will need to replace the plug anyway after breaking it, so get it out anyway you can. Then you will need a helicoil to repair the threads.

  9. I guess I'm a dying breed, even for old school Subaru's :-\ If you want a reliable EA82T, make sure its a low mileage engine. Then go through it all and replace every rubber part on it. Replace every maintenance item with new parts. Make sure the cooling system is 100%. If you want a fun/fast EA82T, get a rebuilt engine (preferably CCR). Then do some mild mods to it. Cold air intake and IC. Get new exhaust - 2.5 or 3in works. TD04 turbo. High output ignition. DO NOT go over 12lbs of boost. Expect to do bi-monthly maintenance on it, to at least keep on top of things. I had a 86 T-Wagon that my Wife drove. Only did t-belts, coil and normal maintenance and it was a great car. If you have money, time and persistence/patience, it can be a great car. It took me a while to get to that point, but I'm glad I stuck with it. I'm pretty stubborn too
  10. So if you were a shop owner, would you do something like this and allow the car owner to take it out on the road for a extended trip? M45, glad your safely back on the road again. Good luck with your trip.
  11. Thats something you might undertake. I would not, nor would I give advice of that nature to someone else making a long trip.+ M45, glad your getting it done right before leaving. Piece of mind on a 3000mi trip can make a huge difference.
  12. I dont think that would last all the way to the East Coast.
  13. Mainly the part that needs the u-joint replaced. If your pressed for time, take it all in. If your tight on money, tell them to only do the front one. I added 3 locations that might be local to you. Also, in order to run it in fwd, the shaft from the tranny needs to be removed (it has the bad u-joint). How would he plug the tranny to keep all the fluid from draining?
  14. That bottom pic gives me flashbacks (SVX) You need to find a Driveshaft Shop. A place that specifically works on them only, doing shortening/lengthening/balancing etc. These u-joints are staked and need to be pressed out and then replaced with serviceable u-joints. While they have your shaft (watch it) have them take a look to see if its out of balance. This might be why you are having problems. http://www.superpages.com/bp/Albany-CA/United-Drive-Line-Service-L0122740956.htm http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&client=firefox-a&ei=5If2Sf7-MaLYswOFwMirBg&ie=UTF-8&q=driveline+services+san+francisco&fb=1&split=1&gl=us&cid=11389700472915689778&li=lmd&z=14&t=m http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&client=firefox-a&ei=0Yj2SfSMJqb2iwPay6HGBw&ie=UTF-8&q=driveline+services+san+francisco&fb=1&split=1&gl=us&dtab=1&cid=14887908516033780497&li=lmd&z=14&t=m
  15. I have clips and probably a clutch fork. If this keeps going, that car is going to be part mine :-p
  16. Its photogenic, meaning it takes good pics. In person it has lots of dings and rock chips. Hope to get that fixed this year.
  17. You are about 2000mi away :-\ This was a day trip.
  18. Well, I'm not usually one to jump on the band wagon and *************** and complain, BUT......... With barely 4mo left in the season, we have no date. There are people that have jobs and getting approval for vacation in a short time is going to be difficult (if not impossible). Last year WCSS10 was announced in NOV. Its now close to the end of APR
  19. A greater offset would cause the tire to rub on the strut, trailing arms and other inside parts. A smaller offset would cause the tires to rub on the fenders. Wheel width also has a effect.
  20. Its a 4wd! And its got some rare Enkei wheels too. Nice score!
  21. It was good seeing you again Jerry. Thanks again for the BBQ, I wasnt hungry till about 10pm :-p Uneventful trip home, all went well. Hope to see you again soon
  22. Yes, pull out the ashtray and you will see a blue box. I believe thats the controller.
  23. My ADR Sokudo 17x7 have a offset of 48mm. WRX wheels have a offset of 55mm
