Loyale Turbo Nightmare Story
Turbone replied to Pooparu's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Exactly. Calebz also had this problem. If you get boost happy I guarentee your engine is not going to last. And dont try and tell me you will be conservative, it aint going to happen. You cant resist it:burnout: -
I think my rant for the week will be parts jockeys:mad: MORONS:horse: They all come greased:rolleyes:

Help please! no spark from coil?? any ideas?
Turbone replied to ejmartin's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Make sure the wires to it are tight. If they are, then the coil is toast. It happens. -

The EA82T 5spd has 82hp, the AT has 111hp. Thats what the FSM says, I hope its a typo. The reason you install a IC is for when you increase the boost. It helps keep the intake air cool. Your best bet for more HP for these engines is to do something with the intake (IC, cone filter, etc), put a larger exhaust on (3in), increase the size of the turbo (TD04). Then keep your fingers crossed. Some here are putting cams in and/or using a SPFI block for higher comp. Not advisable if a DD. -
'87 GL-10 Turbo! Wow.... Some q's
Turbone replied to MoscowSubaruDude's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have a 86 GL-10 T-Wagon going on 4yrs now, love it. Haul more stuff in it than my Brat. Well, almost. 1. Sounds like the oil supply line or return line might be leaking. Try and tighten, dont want these blowing out. Also check the cv joint down below. If the boot is torn, it could be throwing grease onto the turbo. 2. You need to get the car off the ground in order to check the suspension and other related stuff. Check the axle nut, make sure its tight. 3. Alignment is done by adjusting the tie rod ends. I never try and mess with unless something is really fubared and I need to drive it. Take it to a shop and have it put on the machine to have it done right. 4.Theres a couple of different RX trannies. I think the 85/86 is just a D/R with locking diff, the later ones are full time with D/R and locking diff, and single range also. I'm to lazy right now to be sure tho. 5. Check the speedo cable down at the tranny, it might be loose or dirty. If not, pull on the end of the cable gently. If it starts to come out easily it might be broken. The clicking you hear is the odo sticking. Mine does it when it hits every 10,000mi. 6. EA81 wagon wheels will not fit your car. It will bind on the front brake calipers. -
Ok, lets settle this. Does it look like this one? Or this one?

Hmmm, maybe just as long as someone driving a FT/AWD around with different size tires?

Loyale Turbo Nightmare Story

For $250, I think you did all right:cool: What I should say is, a better inspection might have saved you $250. Now for the parts. Most auto parts store dont have the correct books to get the right parts for Subaru's. If they do have them, the counter person doesnt know how to read them:rolleyes: The dealer should know what parts fit on the car, if they dont, they need a new parts guy. Or find another dealership. When you get into the engine like you did, take a inventory of everything you think needs replaced. Its better to have it all ready to go rather than running all over town trying to find the right parts. Hope it runs all right when you get it together. -
Sounds like Meridian Auto Wrecking:rolleyes: Overpriced on everything:-\

It could be stuff left over from the old engine. Are you sure you routed the PVC lines correctly?

need help with transmission
Turbone replied to olehippy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Most folks in a parts store dont know squat about Subaru's. Its sometimes questionable at the dealership even. Does the tranny make any noise when you put it in gear? I've spun the splines of a hub before and the car went no where. But that was a 5spd, never encountered it in a AT (yet). -
DOH! Dont worry, common mistake for a newb.

HELP plz - '86 GL10 engine runs for only 6 seconds.
Turbone replied to drix's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
There is only one fuel filter, its in the engine bay between the firewall and drivers side shock tower. Big round one, replace this first. If there is no change in the problem, it could be the pickup coil in the disty. -

Are you sure it was the trans that you drained?

Well, thanks for all the positive input. But you guys are killing me! I have to many things to do before the show next month, I just dont think I'm going to have time to do the other 3 wheels. But what ever the RX is wearing for shoes come then, I think you all will like em;)
-
Was thinking of putting them on my 89 RX. Not sure if I have the time to do 3 more before the show next month.
-
Yup, I was thinking of a gold rim. To match the trim on the RX. But I might have other plans/options for wheels:brow:
